Chapter 275 Moon Shell

The full moon was exceptionally bright; you didn't even need a flashlight to ride your bicycle along the path.

Fu Liang and Fu Ming rode ahead on one bicycle, while Fu Wan and Qin Anning followed behind on another bicycle.

Qin Anning sat on the back of the bicycle. Because it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, there were very few people on the beach.

So the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was particularly loud at this time, and with the sea breeze blowing, Qin Anning felt that this was the most pleasant time she had experienced in recent years.

"Ah Wan, this must be the place you're talking about!"

"Yes! Ride a little further ahead!"

Fu Ming shouted from the front, and Fu Wan responded.

In fact, Fu Ming and Fu Wan had been here before, but that was in their previous life. This was their first time here since their rebirth.

Fu Wan pressed the brakes on the bicycle, and after the speed decreased, she stopped the bicycle and let Qin Anning get off.

"Anning, we've arrived!"

"Okay!"

Qin Anning snapped out of her reverie and quickly got off the back of the bicycle.

She then realized that they had arrived at the foot of a mountain, with an endless sea on the side and many black reefs of varying sizes at the foot of the mountain.

Fu Wan took the small shovel and fire tongs out of the basket and handed Qin Anning a pair of gloves.

These are new gloves that Ye Xiaocui made for Fu Wan; she herself hasn't worn them yet.

Qin Anning took the gloves, puzzled. "Do I really need to wear gloves?"

Fu Wan nodded, then hesitated, worried that the other woman might not see. "Yes, we need to. There might be crabs or sea snails near the rocks. These things are very sharp and could easily hurt your hands."

So that's how it is.

Qin Anning smiled, her eyes crinkling, "Thank you, Awan."

She imitated Fu Wan and put on the gloves.

Fu Ming and Fu Liang unloaded the buckets they were carrying from the car. "Awan, let's begin!"

They can't wait any longer!

"Big brother, get a bucket for Anning. We can share one bucket."

She has two more burlap sacks and a bucket; if she can fill them all, the harvest will be truly remarkable.

Fu Ming agreed and handed the bucket in his hand to Qin Anning, who took it and smiled at him.

Fu Ming suddenly didn't know where to look, and his ears turned bright red, but fortunately, no one noticed because it was late at night.

Because they had to walk on the mudflats, all of them wore rubber shoes.

Fu Wan led Qin Anning along the mudflats. Because the tide had come in that afternoon, the mud and sand on the mudflats felt soft and spongy underfoot.

Qin Anning found everything fascinating, so Fu Wan handed her the flashlight while she scanned the ground with her eyes.

The first skill in beachcombing is having a keen eye; who knows what seafood might be waiting to be discovered on this seemingly ordinary mudflat?

Sure enough, Fu Wan immediately discovered the traces of the seafood.

"Hey, something's not right with this sand!"

Fu Wan muttered something to herself and squatted down to look at the sand at her feet.

There were several small holes in the mud and sand at her feet, and the holes looked about the size of a pig's snout. Qin Anning saw Fu Wan squat down and curiously came closer.

This small hole is clearly a trace of a shellfish hiding, but I don't know what kind of shellfish it is.

Forget it, let's just start digging!

Fu Wan has always been a woman of action, and Qin Anning watched as she picked up a small shovel and began shoveling sand in front of her without saying a word.

In just two or three minutes, Fu Wan magically produced a plump, white seashell for her.

Fu Wan picked up the seashell and washed it in the seawater beside her.

"Hey, it's a moon shell!"

"Wan, you're amazing! Is this the same as what we had for lunch?"

Fu Wan shook her head and explained to her, "We ate fairy shellfish for lunch, which has purple on its back. Look at this one, it's all white, that's a moon shellfish."

But the taste is pretty good too!

Moon clam is actually a common white clam found on the beach. It is called moon clam by the locals because its body is pure white and resembles a silvery-white full moon.

These shellfish are not only beautiful to look at, but although they don't taste as delicious as fairy clams, they are much cheaper and more cost-effective.

This thing requires more skill to make; if the heat isn't controlled properly, it'll be like eating rubber—you can chew it for ages without breaking it down. (Image of a moon shell from the internet, please delete if infringing copyright) Qin Anning looked at the moon shell in her hand, liking it more and more.

So beautiful! So amazing!

Who knows, you can actually dig up seashells in this sand.

"Ah Wan, please teach me how to find this!"

"Look at this water hole. This hole is bigger, and there are seashells inside. Then take a shovel and shovel the sand horizontally. That way you can find the seafood hidden underneath."

Fu Wan gestured to Qin Anning, and Qin Anning, being a researcher, was quick-witted. In just a few minutes, she imitated Fu Wan and dug out a large, round moon shell.

It's no exaggeration to say it's the size of a fist.

"Wow, this thing is practically the king of clams!"

It's not just the size of a chicken egg, it's probably as big as a goose egg.

"Anning, you're amazing!"

Fu Wan couldn't help but marvel. Although moon shells are common, she had never seen one this big before.

Hearing her praise, Qin Anning's confidence soared to its peak.

"Then I'll dig another one up for you to see!"

"Oh my, what is this?!"

A dark shadow emerged from the mud and sand. Fu Wan quickly used a shovel to pin it down, then reached out and pulled the thing out from under the shovel. Only then could the two of them see what it really looked like.

"Look, it's a three-eyed crab!"

The three-eyed crab is actually a type of swimming crab, scientifically known as *Portunus rubrum*. It gets its name from the three prominent purplish-red spots on its back that resemble three eyes side-by-side. This crab has tender, flavorful meat and is one of the most popular crabs among fishermen. These crabs generally live in shallow waters about ten meters deep. The one they caught was probably washed ashore with the tide and hid in the mud and sand.

She was startled and ran out because of the noise Qin Anning made while digging for the Moon Shell.

Although the meat of the three-eyed crabs in October is not as good as that in August, the size is still quite good.

Fu Wan threw the three-eyed crab into the bucket, and the crab immediately raised its two large pincers, looking like it was not to be trifled with.

This sight amused Qin Anning. "Catching the sea is really great, it's a lot of fun!"

She now finally understood why Mingzhu was able to thrive here; the seaside truly offered many pleasures.

Not to mention Mingzhu, she doesn't even want to go back to work!

Knowing that there were crabs in the mud and sand, Fu Wan got excited.

However, after searching several places, they only managed to catch two or three three-eyed crabs, each about the size of a fist. There were actually two more, about the size of eggs, which Fu Wan let go, telling her to let them grow up before coming back.

As they searched for seafood, the two gradually got closer and closer to the sea. They could even feel the moisture in the air as the waves crashed onto the beach with the sea breeze.

Fu Wan held the fire tongs and waited for the seawater to recede. She thought that when the waves receded, there might be seafood.

Sure enough, as soon as the tide receded, a small octopus appeared before her eyes.

Fu Wan reacted swiftly, grabbing the octopus with a pair of tongs.

Startled, the octopus sprayed out black ink that stained Fu Wan's shoes, which frightened Qin Anning, who was about to approach, causing her to retreat repeatedly.

Fu Wan couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Just then, Fu Ming's shouts came from not far away.

"Awan, come quick! There are lots of seashells here!"
