Humpback whale?
Fu Wan suddenly realized why so many sardines were fleeing like a tornado; it turned out there was a living devil chasing after them with its mouth wide open!
This whale looked familiar, though, because it was entirely white, and its pectoral fins, which resembled wings, were constantly moving up and down.
So elegant, so incredibly elegant.
Fu Wan suddenly realized, "Oh my, isn't this the white humpback whale they saw on the ship a few months ago!"
How did you end up here!
Fu Wan was astonished. White humpback whales are extremely rare. She had only seen one twice in her past and present lives. Surely there couldn't be another white humpback whale in the sea?
Fu Wan floated on the water, completely mesmerized by what she saw.
She watched quietly as the humpback whale swam closer and closer. As one of the larger intelligent creatures in the sea, the humpback whale in front of her was at least ten meters long.
Fu Wan hadn't been able to see it clearly from a distance on the boat before, but now she realized that the humpback whale's eyes looked like two dark brown glass beads.
In other words, this white humpback whale is not albino at all, but a white variant caused by a genetic mutation.
Thinking about it this way, Fu Wan became even more excited.
Genetic mutations are so rare that no white humpback whales have been found in the world yet. Fu Wan was desperately trying to restrain herself from reaching out to touch the humpback whale, afraid that she would disturb its meal.
Compared to the enormous size of the humpback whale, Fu Wan was undoubtedly tiny. Perhaps in the humpback whale's eyes, the two-legged creature before it wasn't even as big as a fish.

But all that fear vanished when I saw the humpback whale's chin covered with barnacles.

Fu Wan felt heartbroken. The intelligence of a humpback whale is about the same as that of a five-year-old child. With so many barnacles, it must have been parasitizing for quite some time.
"Gurgle gurgle gurgle..."
Just then, a strange sound suddenly rang out. Fu Wan thought she was hallucinating, but after shaking herself, she realized that the sound was still going on.
She looked around and realized that she was only two or three meters away from the water's surface. There were only her and the humpback whale around her, and no other fish nearby.
The sound seemed to be right next to her. Looking at the bubbles coming out of the humpback whale's mouth, Fu Wan suddenly realized that the sound was coming from the humpback whale in front of her.
And you know what? The sound was melodious; if you knew it was a whale's call, you'd think someone was singing.
Seeing that Fu Wan did not move, the humpback whale swam forward a short distance and carefully nudged Fu Wan with its head.
Even so, Fu Wan was still nearly knocked off her feet by the impact. Through the humpback whale's clear eyes, Fu Wan felt that it was asking her for help.
After all, this isn't the first time. Killer whales swim fast and are not susceptible to barnacles, but sperm whales, humpback whales, and the like have suffered greatly from barnacles.
But right now, with the fish in my hands, I don't have a free hand to draw my knife and go and remove the barnacles!
Just as Fu Wan was in a dilemma, a long whistle suddenly came from the water. The humpback whale was so frightened that it hid on the seabed. Fu Wan did not hesitate and, after thinking for a moment, swam towards the surface.
The sound was like a ship's horn; she wondered if it was Boss Fu looking for her.
If it were her own boat, that would be perfect; she could let them take their catch aboard first, and then she could pick barnacles from the humpback whale.
Thinking this, Fu Wan surfaced and looked around. When she saw the "Fully Loaded Return" ship less than a hundred meters away from her, a bright smile appeared on her face.
"Hey! Dad, I'm here!"
Fu Wan waved to the "Fully Loaded Return" ship, carrying things in one hand. The familiar ship's horn responded to her, and Su Ran on the ship jumped up excitedly.
"Wow, Wan, you're amazing! You stayed in the water for so long!"
Fu Wan heard it clearly, and her smile widened.
As the boat drew closer, Fu Wan turned her head and searched for the humpback whale in the water.
The horn noise startled the humpback whale, but it probably didn't go far. Fu Wan wanted to see which direction it went so that she could go find it to collect barnacles after throwing the net onto the boat.
Unfortunately, if the barnacle infestation becomes too severe, it will affect the humpback whale's health, and Fu Wan doesn't want this rare white humpback whale to suffer because of the tiny barnacles.
It is a spirit of the sea, and should live freely and happily in the sea.
Even though Fu Wan makes money from seafood, it doesn't stop her from helping the animals that are the true masters of the sea!
But what she saw surprised her greatly.
She thought the loudspeaker had scared the humpback whale away, but when she looked down, she was surprised to find the enormous white body right next to her.
The white humpback whale was right next to her!
This is so heartwarming!
Fu Wan stretched out her free hand and tentatively placed it on the humpback whale.
Without any resistance, she habitually touched it a couple of times. The texture of a humpback whale's skin is definitely different from that of an orca. Perhaps because of their different swimming habits in the water, orcas have a smoother surface, while humpback whales' skin has many bumps and pits.
"Gurgle gurgle gurgle~"
Fu Wan heard that beautiful melody again, but soon the sound stopped abruptly. Fu Wan looked up and saw that Boss Fu's ship had indeed arrived.
Worried that the humpback whale might be scared, Fu Wan softened her voice and stroked its head to comfort it, "Don't be afraid, little guy. After I give them the net, I'll help you get rid of those nasty barnacles."
She laughed as she spoke, "What little guy? Maybe in your eyes, I'm the little guy. How about this, I'll give you a name."

The response she received was a gurgling sound from the humpback whale, and at the same time, the whale's flippers moved slowly, as if this could better express its affection for Fu Wan.
