Chapter 864 Snow Crab

"Wan, Wan, did you bring your camera? Quickly take a picture of me!"

After a great deal of effort to haul the fish ashore, Fu Ming excitedly called out to Fu Wan.

Although he had caught another fish, he wasn't sure if it was worth anything until it was pulled out of the water.

Now that the Bluefin Golden Spear was right in front of him, Fu Ming couldn't help but be excited and want to record this moment!

Fu Wan did bring a camera. Since she was going out to sea, she was afraid of encountering something, so she thought she should bring a camera so she could record anything that might happen.

Since Fu Ming made this request, Fu Wan granted his wish.

"I brought a lot of film with me. This is a rare opportunity, so hurry up if you want to take a picture with the fish. We'll have to bleed them later!"

Upon hearing about this good news, Fu Liang and Ye Lin were the first to come over.

Fu Ming didn't mind and took this memorable photo with his good friend.

It was sunset, and the orange-red sunset dyed the water and the clouds in the sky red.

With this natural backdrop, plus the nearly 100-pound bluefin tuna, Fu Wan hardly needed to find any angles to take several good photos.

Not only Fu Ming and Fu Liang, but also Fu Qing and Fu Erlv each took a picture. Even Fang Min, who wasn't used to taking pictures, was dragged along by Fu Qing for one.

After taking the photos, it was time to haul in the nets. Fu Ming and Fu Liang were busy bleeding the bluefin tuna, while Fu Xiaochuan, Fu Erlv, and Li Jun started the net-hauling machine.

Taking advantage of the break, Fu Wan ran to the kitchen and saw that the mixed grain rice from lunch had all been eaten. She simply cooked a pot of white rice instead. Although the mixed grain rice was filling, it was still a bit hard to swallow.

There wasn't much food left from lunch, but Fu Laoda had already cleaned the conch he brought back earlier. Fu Wan planned to stir-fry it with some scallions later for a crisp and refreshing taste.

You can't just eat seafood at sea. Luckily, Ye Xiaocui prepared a lot of potatoes, onions, and white radishes for them. She thought it would be nice to stir-fry some vegetarian onions and stew some rabbit meat with radishes for dinner.

With some time before dinner, Fu Wan circled back onto the deck, only to find the net bag untied, revealing a mountain of fish once more.

"Oh my god, what is this?!"

Fu Erlu exclaimed in surprise as several strange-looking large crabs landed at his feet, but he had never seen crabs that looked like this before.

"This must be a snow crab!"

At first glance, Fu Wan thought it was an emperor crab, wondering where the emperor crab came from. But when she got closer, she realized it was a snow crab.

Snow crab, also known as snow crab, is a large crab that lives in the deep sea.

Because the meat on the crab legs resembles pine needles when soaked in water for sashimi, it is called snow crab.

There are two varieties of snow crabs: red-eyed and gray-eyed. Generally, red-eyed snow crabs are larger, weighing between two and five pounds.

The grey-eyed snow crab is smaller, weighing about one to two pounds.

Fu Wan had seen many snow crabs that looked a bit like king crabs in supermarkets in her previous life. They were generally cheaper than king crabs, but tasted much better.

Snow crab meat is incredibly tender, and it's especially delicious when it's caught in winter.

Although she didn't know why so many snow crabs had been caught in the net, Fu Wan picked up a few snow crabs and examined their sexes.

There were both males and females; it looks like we'll have to let a lot of crabs go.

She picked up a female snow crab and instructed everyone, "When you're picking out crabs, check if they're male or female. Keep the males, and if the females are alive, throw them all back into the sea."

"Ah, why is that?"

Fu Xiaochuan was puzzled. Why would they throw away the seafood they had finally managed to get online?

Moreover, although female crabs are not as big as male crabs, they are still quite large. Generally speaking, female crabs also have roe, making them even tastier!

Fu Wan shook her head upon hearing this, "Snow crabs, blue crabs, and swimming crabs are all different."

Female snow crabs are basically breeding and laying eggs all year round. These crabs don't have much meat, so catching them is a waste.

"Why not release them all? Then there will be a continuous stream of crabs."

After Fu Wan finished speaking, Fu Dahai nodded in agreement.

"Yes, I've seen this crab before. The old captain on the ship said the same thing."

After saying that, he couldn't help but feel a bit more admiration for Fu Wan. Fu Wan was so young, yet she knew so much!

After hearing this, everyone realized that the female crabs had no meat, so they all started picking them out and putting them all back into the sea.

The net was mostly filled with snow crabs, and there were also quite a few palm-sized sole fillets. To Fu Wan's surprise, there were also quite a few whelks under the snow crabs.

She had seen this on Bird's Nest Island before; it tasted good and was reasonably priced.

Considering there would be plenty of food that evening, she didn't take the whelks, but instead grabbed a few male snow crabs and called Fang Min and Fu Qing to head to the kitchen.

"Hurry up and pick what you want, dinner will be served in an hour!"

Since they are mostly snow crabs, the sorting process is quick.

Fu Wan ran to the kitchen to prepare dinner for everyone. She had originally planned to steam two fish that she caught at noon, but unexpectedly she also encountered snow crabs, so she decided to let everyone try them.

Snow crab is actually very easy to prepare; it can be eaten as sashimi or steamed.

Fu Wan is not afraid of trouble, so she caught six of them, three steamed and three sashimi.

It's called sashimi, but actually only the crab legs are sashimi; the crab body is steamed.

After all, there isn't much meat on the crab body; the meat in the crab legs is much tastier.

The snow crab sashimi was a bit unusual. Fu Wan used scissors to cut off the crab legs, then cut open the two claws and peeled out the crab meat.

Fresh crab meat is translucent. When Fu Wan was cleaning the crab, she asked Fang Min to prepare a bowl of ice water for her. After cleaning the crab leg meat, she put it directly into the ice water to soak.

Steaming snow crab is much simpler. Just lift the crab shell, remove the gills and other inedible parts, and put the meat inside directly into the pot to steam.

After steaming, sprinkle some scallions on top and drizzle with hot oil. The aroma is simply irresistible.

To Fu Wan's surprise, there was still a lot of crab roe in the bellies of these male crabs. After thinking for a moment, she simply scooped it out with a spoon and prepared to make a steamed egg with crab roe.

Fortunately, the pot in the kitchen was quite large; otherwise, with only a few crabs, it would have been too much to steam in one pot.

An hour passed in the blink of an eye. Not only were the fish almost all sorted out, but the food was also ready.

Fu Wan asked Fang Min to serve everyone a meal, while she packed a portion and sent it to the cockpit.

Right now, it was still Boss Fu who was steering the boat. When he saw the fragrant food, Boss Fu's eyes lit up.

The ship had been sailing for two days, and Xu Jiafu no longer needed to keep a close eye on things, so Fu Wan simply invited him to eat with her in the kitchen.

At the same time, she didn't forget to remind Boss Fu.

"Dad, it's been a whole day and night. We need to go back to where we set the squid traps and collect them."

"Okay, I know. Is your Uncle Chen up? He said he's going to use lights to catch squid tonight. Tell everyone to finish dinner and wait for his instructions!"
