Chapter 21 Encountering the Sea Turtle Again

Fu Wan and Fu Liang had agreed to go out to sea in the afternoon and then head to the dock in the early morning so that the fish would be fresher and they could sell them for more money.

Fu Liang didn't have any ideas. He used to go to sea with his father, but now he listens to Fu Wan.

The next morning, Fu Wan went to the village store and bought a few fish traps. She had noticed them on the edge of the deserted island last time; there were several trenches with seaweed growing there.

If we put some fish traps in, we might be able to catch some fish.

It certainly won't catch as much as with a fishing net; it's just for fun, like opening a blind box.

Ye Xiaocui was busy making pancakes and preparing dry food at home. With the sound of the waves so loud all night, she could at least eat something if she couldn't sleep.

The temperature was still quite high during the day, and Fu Wan suddenly had a brilliant idea while tidying up the fishing nets.

If you bring ice to the boat, fish that die at sea can be kept fresh by putting them in the ice.

Without further ado, Fu Wan carried two buckets and went to find Uncle Fu. At this time, ordinary households certainly didn't have refrigerators, and even the ice in the convenience store's refrigerator had been bought up by Uncle Fu.

However, Fu San's family has a cellar, and he previously bought a second-hand freezer in town specifically to store unsold fish and ice.

When Fu Wan came to ask for ice, Fu San immediately took two large buckets from the freezer without saying a word.

"Wrap the ice in a blanket or cotton-padded coat so it melts slower."

Fu Wan nodded; she understood that logic. After all, that's how the popsicle vendors used to wrap them.

It's a pity there aren't modern food storage containers, otherwise the fish would be even fresher.

The two agreed to meet at the dock early the next morning to settle the goods. Fu San rubbed his hands together, wondering what kind of surprise his niece would bring him the next morning.

Time flew by and it was already afternoon. With the sun about to set, Fu Wan and Fu Liang started the diesel engine and set off with a roar.

Following the direction Fu Wan pointed, Fu Liang steered the boat towards the deserted island from last time.

"Wan, how many minutes can you hold your breath underwater?"

Fu Liang noticed that Fu Wan was wearing strange clothes and immediately recognized that they were whale skin.

"This outfit is quite unique."

Fu Wan smiled sheepishly, "I'll go down first, Brother Liang, you wait on the boat for my message to cast the net."

Fu Liang nodded, and then watched as Fu Wan quietly entered the water, and then swam into the depths of the sea like a fish.

"Amazing!"

Fu Liang muttered to himself, "We all grew up by the sea, and we even practiced diving together."

I just don't know when this girl, A-Wan, secretly became so skilled.

However, now was not the time to think about that. Fu Liang stopped the boat where it was and then stared intently at the sea, waiting for Fu Wan's instructions.

Actually, he didn't quite understand. Back when Uncle Fu was around, they would simply cast the net, sail away, and then haul it in a few hours later.

Fu Wan, however, went directly into the sea to find schools of fish and then cast her net, which was truly unique.

Fu Wan went into the sea but didn't see any fish. After swimming for a while, she only saw a few sardines the size of her fingers.

Strange, where did all the fish go today?

Fu Wan swam for a while longer and saw several enormous creatures chasing each other and having a great time in the distance.

Okay, no wonder there were no fish, turns out there was a killer whale wandering around Ocean Street!

I'm afraid these guys have either eaten all the fish here or scared them away.

Fu Wan finally surfaced. Fu Liang was about to shout with joy when he saw her finally emerge, but then he saw Fu Wan make a hand gesture.

Then, the orcas, seemingly carrying something on their heads, burst out of the water and started tossing things back and forth between them.

"Orca!" Fu Liang exclaimed in shock, then put down the fishing net in his hand.

He's been at sea for several years now, so he knows that with killer whales around, there probably won't be many fish around.

Fu Wan climbed onto the boat and stood at the bow to examine it closely.

"Are they playing with a sea turtle?"

Fu Wan stared for a long time before noticing that the unfortunate creature being tossed around was actually a sea turtle. For some reason, she suddenly remembered the sea turtle she had rescued a few nights ago.

I wonder if that guy is still alive.

The orcas were having more and more fun and getting closer and closer.

One of the orcas slapped its tail hard against the sea turtle, which then flew directly towards the bow of Fu Wan's boat.

"thump!"

The sea turtle landed almost in the water near the bow of the ship, and Fu Wan was horrified to see the orca starting to chase after them.

Good heavens, those street thugs must weigh several tons combined. If they all swam over, this boat would definitely capsize.

"Sea turtle, hurry up and go!" Fu Wan urged, as they needed to quickly go into the sea to attract the killer whale.

The sea turtle stared intently at Fu Wan with its peanut-sized eyes.

It actually looks somewhat familiar.

Oh my god, no way, could it be the same one she rescued a few days ago?

As the orca drew closer, Fu Liang hurriedly grabbed the rocking rod.

"I'll go start the boat! I'll go start the boat!"

"Brother, you drive to the deserted island, I'll lure them there!"

Without waiting for Fu Liang's attempt to stop her, she jumped into the water with a "plop".

Fu Wan whistled at the orca, then swam in the opposite direction from the boat.

After swimming for two minutes, she felt something was wrong, as if she had forgotten something. When she turned her head, she saw a sea turtle frantically paddling its four legs toward her.

Even in the seawater, she could see the deep resentment in the sea turtle's small eyes.

Sorry, I forgot about you.

Fu Wan held the sea turtle in her hand, about to say something when the seawater rippled, when the orca was already in front of her.

Before, when she saw killer whales at sea, she only knew they were big, but now that she's face to face with them, Fu Wan realizes that they are not only big, but also quite cheeky.

Several orcas surrounded her, and one of the smaller ones even rubbed against her clothes and made a "mmm" sound.

Fu Wan sensed that they meant no harm and gently touched the baby orca's head with trembling hands.

"Uh-huh"

The baby orca rubbed against her and then opened its mouth towards her. Fu Wan thought it was going to bite her and was startled.

Then, noticing that the baby orca kept its mouth open, Fu Wan realized that there was a tattered net stuck to its teeth.

No wonder this guy kept opening its mouth at her; it probably knew she could help it.

"I'll put the sea turtle down, please don't bully it. Then I'll untie this fishing net for you."

Fu Wan placed the sea turtle on the killer whale, and the sea turtle was so frightened that it didn't dare to stick its head out.

Fu Wan took out the small knife tied to her leg and then cut the fishing net off the baby orca's mouth, cleaning it thoroughly.

"Uh-huh!"

The fishing net was untied, and the baby killer whale excitedly cried out several times.

"Stop following me! I have to go fishing. I'm going to catch manta rays today!"

With a combination of words and gestures, Fu Wan finally managed to swim back while holding the sea turtle.

After swimming for half a minute, she turned around and saw that the orca had not caught up, so she felt relieved and continued forward before carrying the sea turtle onto the boat.
