Robert skillfully played the fish; this fish felt different from the three-knife fish and snapper he had caught before, and the pull was very strong.
Robert suppressed his excitement and struggled with the fish for about half an hour before finally pulling it out of the water, almost exhausting all his strength.
"It's Gt!"
"A bullhead tuna, no wonder it's so strong!"
Fu Wan peered out and saw a trevally weighing over ten kilograms being pulled out of the water. Upon seeing this, Fu Ming quickly extended his hook over.
The fish was really tired from being tethered; it didn't struggle much after being hooked, and Fu Ming simply tossed it onto the deck.
"What a pity, the bullhead tuna is big, but the taste is not good!"
Fu Ming sighed, then felt a little proud. So far, the most valuable and delicious fish that everyone caught should be his big three-knife fish.
"I got a fish too!"
"Me too, there's movement here too!"
The fishing rods in Fu Wan and Ye Lin's hands made noise one after another. Fu Ming had already put away his fishing rod after Xiao Huang and the seabird got into a fight. Now, seeing this, he quickly grabbed a hook in one hand and a landing net in the other, ready to help catch the sea fish.
It's good for two people to catch fish, but if they stand too close together, it's a problem.
"Brother Ye Lin, hurry up and move to the stern, or we'll be doomed if our fishing lines get tangled!"
As Fu Wan spoke, she tried her best to control the fishing rod in her hand. The fish she had caught was quite strong and was escaping haphazardly.
He swerved left and right with brute force, giving her no chance to reel in the fishing line.
"Okay, I'll sneak over there right now!"
Ye Lin was aware of Fu Wan's worries. Fu Ming glanced at the two fishing rods that were bent into crescent moons and keenly sensed that these two fish must be quite extraordinary.
"Jack, Tom, if you haven't caught any fish yet, put your fishing rods away first, or it'll become a mess later."
Robert had just pulled up a fish when he saw this, so he simply stopped baiting and stood next to Fu Wan to cheer her on.
"Wan, keep it up! God bless you and may you catch a bluefin tuna!"
Fu Wan didn't have time to speak, but she knew that her weapon was definitely not a golden spear.
Because tuna swim their entire lives and swim very fast, Fu Wan knew the feel of handling a tuna well after playing with it several times. Although this fish was quite strong, it was far slower than a tuna.
Without Fu Ming having to call out, Fu Jinshui and Fu Daniu had already packed up their fishing rods.
They didn't come away empty-handed. One of them caught two three-knife seabream and one yellowfin seabream, while the other pulled up a red seabream weighing nearly two pounds and a bigeye seabream weighing about one pound.
Neither of them were cheap, and the two of them were quite satisfied. Right now, they were busy watching Fu Wan and Ye Lin walk the fish.
"I should be up here soon, someone come quick!"
"I'm here!"
Jack clapped excitedly; he had been waiting for a long time with his net.
"Oh my God, I think I see that fish!"
Jack carefully examined the surface of the sea. Upon hearing this, Fu Ming leaned over to take a look and indeed saw a fish faintly visible underwater.
"It doesn't seem to be a golden gun."
Fu Jinshui squinted, trying to make out the fish's general shape, and Fu Ming nodded in agreement.
“It’s definitely not a golden tuna. It looks more like that…” He tried to recall, “Peppered snapper, yes, it looks a bit like peppered snapper.”
"But this is way too big! Aren't pepper snapper usually five or six pounds?"
Fu Daniu was puzzled, and at this moment Fu Wan took over the conversation.
"No, some pepper snapper can weigh over ten kilograms. It depends on the species. Maybe what Brother Alin pulled up was a big pepper snapper."
Her voice was a little breathless. Fu Ming turned his head and saw that Fu Wan was resting to the side, while the fishing rod had long been handed to Robert and was still being used.
Fu Ming was filled with regret. Oh dear, he was just watching the show and Robert took over the job of reeling in the fish. He was thinking that if he pulled up a golden tuna, he could brag about it to others later!
But it's okay, maybe Robert won't be able to pull it up later and we'll have to find someone else.
Just as Fu Ming was making his plans, another commotion came from Ye Lin's direction.
As the sea fish surfaced, Fu Daniu and Fu Jinshui were thrilled, while Jack remained unusually calm, steadily extending his net and scooping up the fish that had been pulled from the water.
"It's up! It's up!"
"Hey, you guys have a really sharp eye! It really is a pepper snapper!"
It's not just a pepper snapper, but a pepper snapper with a tail that weighs at least ten pounds.
Fortunately, Jack was strong and the net was sturdy. He managed to scoop a ten-pound peppered snapper onto the deck using the net.
Fu Wan was so tired that she didn't want to move, so when she was catching fish, she didn't walk to the stern of the boat, which was a few meters away.
Anyway, the fish will always be pulled up eventually. Even if I don't go over there myself, it's the same as watching them come up later.
And here I am, with the fish right in front of me.
"This fish looks good, quickly put it in the live water tank!"
Since they hadn't been injured by the fishhook, Fu Wan naturally urged them to raise the fish.
Live fish are always more valuable than dead fish, so Fu Ming quickly picked up the pepper snapper and put it into the live water tank with a splash. Looking at the fresh appearance of the pepper snapper, Ye Lin's face was full of smiles.
"Ah Wan, is this fish valuable?"
"It's valuable. It's this big; it's worth at least tens of yuan!"
"It's valuable, it's valuable!"
Ye Lin was even happier to hear this. Fu Wan wasn't lying to him. The flower-tailed pepper snapper was indeed valuable. This fish was also known as Ban Jiaji, and locally it was called "fake Bao Gong".
Unlike other peppered snapper with their monotonous colors, this fish has very vibrant colors. Although its head and belly are a pale grayish-white, it has three distinct diagonal stripes along its sides.
These three diagonal bands are clearly defined, with a yellowish-brown base color and covered with very obvious black round spots that resemble black peppercorns.
At the same time, the dorsal and caudal fins of the flower-tailed pepper snapper are also very brightly colored, being a grayish-yellow that is different from the color of its body.
The combination of these colors makes the flower-tailed pepper snapper very eye-catching and beautiful in the sea.
Of course, besides being beautiful, the Hana-o pepper sea bream is also delicious. Its flesh is very thick and meaty, and if aged and served as sashimi, it's incredibly chewy and refreshing.
Most importantly, this type of fish can only be caught by hook and line; trawls are rarely used, making it a rare fish found at the dock.
"Wan, Wan, help, help!"
Robert shouted for help, and Fu Wan, upon hearing this, snapped out of her daze and hurried over.
She was faster than Fu Ming. He had been curious about this fish for a long time. Seeing that he had already reeled in quite a bit of the fishing line and that more than half an hour had passed, he had to go and finish the last leg!
"Ah Wan, let me do it!"
"Alright, alright, you can do it then!"
Fu Wan was happy to have some free time. She leaned against the side of the boat and looked out to sea. The fish had indeed been stuck for a long time, and it should be pulled up soon.
Just as she was thinking this, suddenly her vision blurred and a white shadow flickered in the water.
Fu Wan steadied herself and immediately recognized the type of fish.
Moonfish! It's been so long since I've caught a moonfish!
