Chapter 28 Wang Zhaodi, I've come to settle accounts with you!

Old Man Fu was the best swimmer in Fu Family Village. He had spent most of his life at sea and was very experienced, so he always caught more fish than others when he went out to sea.

Not many families in the village own boats; most fishermen rent them. Fu Wan's family, however, bought their boat entirely because Fu's father earned money from fishing.

Although it's just an ordinary second-hand boat, it runs on diesel fuel, doesn't require hand cranking, and doesn't need to be rented, making it arguably the most expensive fixed asset in the house besides the house.

Otherwise, Wang Zhaodi wouldn't have set her sights on this, would she?

Shen Lingling was terrified by Shen Dongsheng, who had just taken out a knife. When she saw her mother, she burst into tears.

Fu Wan quickly comforted her, and didn't forget to have Dr. Bai examine Fu Ming's leg injury.

Fortunately, thanks to the application of medicine, new flesh has grown back in Fu Ming's leg where the fishbone had pierced it, and he should be able to recover soon.

Bai Qianzhou went back to get his first-aid kit, carefully examined Fu Ming's wound healing, changed his dressing again, and then surprisingly said goodbye to them.

"Dr. Bai, are you going back to town already?"

Bai Qianzhou nodded. "I'm not going back to the town. I'm doing research at the county central hospital and will stay there for six months. Come to the county hospital for a follow-up examination in a week."

Fu Ming nodded hurriedly, while Ye Xiaocui pulled him along, "Dr. Bai, my family doesn't know how to thank you enough. Why don't you stay for a meal?"

The Fu family owes a debt of gratitude not only for Fu Ming's wound but also for the pebble he threw at the last second.

"No need. I've already said before, the stingray bones are the payment."

Bai Qianzhou replied in a serious tone, but what he was thinking about was the delicious and visually appealing meal he had enjoyed at the Fu family's house.

But food is scarce in rural areas, so he can't keep coming here to freeload, can he?

Fu Wan glanced at his Adam's apple as he swallowed and found it amusing. Although this Dr. Bai was a proper city dweller, he was still a young man who valued food and drink.

"Dr. Bai, please come to my house for dinner tonight. It's on our behalf as a family to thank you. We'll also invite the village chief. We won't make you feel uncomfortable."

Since things had come to this point, Bai Qianzhou couldn't refuse any longer and could only nod in agreement, then secretly thought that he should leave some money for the meal later.

Shen Lingling was still only a five-year-old child. After being comforted by Fu Wan, she forgot her sadness and fear. As soon as she saw Fu Wan holding a big basin, she ran over to her again.

"Mom, what are you doing with that basin?"

Fu Wan poured the seawater into the basin and quickly put Fugui in.

Wow, a giant sea turtle!

Fugui had just been handed over to a villager by Fu Wan, and it was so frightened that it kept its little eyes closed and didn't dare to open them for a long time.

Why are there so many two-legged creatures? I'm scared, I want to go back to the sea!

Fu Wan felt extremely guilty. Fu Gui took a long time to recover in the seawater, clearly still shaken.

It was all in a moment of panic. Heaven knows how flustered Fu Wan was when she saw Shen Dongsheng holding a knife.

"Ring ring, this is Fugui, Mom's friend. You can talk to it, but don't touch its wounds."

Shen Lingling then noticed the wounds on the sea turtle's body and hissed in distress.

"Mommy, does it hurt?"

"It must hurt, so we can't hurt it."

Shen Lingling nodded as if she understood, and then Fu Wan took a small silver pomfret, chopped it into small pieces, and had Shen Lingling feed it to Fu Gui.

Fugui was quite carefree. After resting in the familiar seawater for a while, he smelled the aroma of fish and ate it piece by piece with great relish.

The turtle would eat a piece of food that Chen Lingling fed it, and the turtle and the person got along very harmoniously.

Fu Wan was relieved. Now she still had one thing to deal with, which was Wang Zhaodi.

Although Wang Zhaodi's family and Old Man Fu were biological brothers, they were half-brothers. After Fu Wan's grandmother starved to death during a famine to save food for her son, her grandfather immediately remarried.

In less than a year, she gave birth to Fu Lao Er. After having a stepmother, she also had a stepfather. Fu Wan's father could only work as a helper on the boat with the kind-hearted people in the village to earn a living.

Therefore, the relationship between the two families can be described as one of mutual respect and non-interference.

Originally, Fu Wan's grandfather didn't expect Fu Wan's father to support him in his old age. However, after Fu Lao Er got married, his wife, Wang Zhaodi, thought that since they were brothers, why should the two of them be the ones to support him in his old age? So, they had a fight.

Of course, in the end, the village chief gave Fu Lao Er a severe scolding, and then, whether by coincidence or because he had something on his mind, Fu Lao Er's father got drunk one night half a month later, went to the beach, and drowned.

A fisherman who made his living by the sea died in the sea, and the villagers were talking about it. Some even said it was retribution for Fu Lao Er's family, since they hadn't cared about the life or death of Fu Wan's father, Fu Lao Da.

After Fu Lao Er's father died, the two families completely severed ties after the funeral. Only Wang Zhaodi still treated Fu Wan's family with disdain.

Fu Wan usually tolerated it, but today Wang Zhaodi really crossed her line.

"Mother, I'm going to Wang Zhaodi's house."

Fu Wan didn't even want to call her aunt, and although Ye Xiaocui was usually quiet, she wasn't someone to be bullied.

"Go ahead, but don't make a big fuss. Just teach her a lesson."

Fu Wan nodded, but Ye Xiaocui was still worried that Fu Wan wouldn't be able to go alone. "I'll go and call your Aunt Jiang and Aunt Wang, and have them accompany me to seek justice!"

After saying that, she threw down the fish she was cleaning, washed her hands, and went out.

Fu Wan told Shen Lingling to go play with Fu Ming, while she locked the door and went straight to Wang Zhaodi's house.

Wang Zhaodi is currently being scolded at home.

"Look at you! Bringing a stranger into someone else's house in broad daylight, with a knife in hand! How could you be so stupid? Couldn't you have just given them directions instead of letting them catch you!"

The one who was cursing was Wang Zhaodi's mother-in-law, Fu Lao Er's biological mother, Old Lady Wang.

Wang Zhaodi was Old Lady Wang's distant niece. If it weren't for the fact that they were not related by blood and that she was easy to manipulate, Old Lady Wang would never have allowed this fool to marry her son.

Fu Lao Er hadn't returned from his sea voyage yet, and Wang Zhaodi was huddled in the courtyard, her heart filled with dissatisfaction.

Her mother-in-law just likes to make a mountain out of a molehill. It's not like she was the one holding the knife, so what business is it of hers?

She's just a spectator at best!

Fu Wan heard Old Lady Wang cursing from a great distance outside the door. She sneered inwardly, thinking that the most troublesome person in the Fu family was probably this old woman.

Making such a loud noise, isn't it just an attempt to distance herself from the family? Ha, she's dreaming!

Fu Wan stepped forward without any politeness and kicked open the courtyard gate that wasn't properly closed.

"Wang Zhaodi! I'm here to settle accounts with you!"
