Chapter 308 Ye Jun's Change

After the meal, Ye Lin and Fu Liang cleared the dishes, while Fu Wan swept up the trash under the table.

Wangcai was searching for bones when it suddenly perked up its ears alertly and then rushed out of the courtyard gate at top speed.

"Woof woof woof!"

"Aww!"

"Wangcai!"

Fu Wan quickly and sternly stopped her, wondering if it was one of the neighbors passing by.

When she quickly walked to the courtyard gate and saw who was standing outside, she was somewhat surprised.

"Ye Jun?"

Ye Jun's face turned pale at this moment, showing that he was quite frightened by Wangcai.

Upon seeing Fu Wan, he forced a smile.

"Ah Wan, I've come to find my brother."

Fu Wan saw the bundle in his hand, which, judging from its appearance, seemed to contain some clothes.

She opened the courtyard gate and then used her foot to block Wangcai, who was trying to rush out.

"Come in, have you had lunch?"

Even though the dishes on the table had been cleaned up, the aroma of food still lingered in the yard.

Ye Jun licked his lips, about to say that he had already eaten, but his stomach started to rumble.

The sound was quite loud, which amused Fu Wan and eased the awkward atmosphere between them.

"Brother Jun, please go inside and sit down. I'll go to the kitchen and get you some food."

There was still quite a bit of pheasant left from lunch, but the spicy stir-fried rabbit was still served, with not a drop of soup left.

Fu Wan was worried that there wasn't enough food for him, so she took out two eggs and asked Fu Ming to stir-fry some eggs with chili peppers.

Fortunately, the pot hasn't been washed yet.

Ye Xiaocui and Boss Fu had just gone to the backyard to get the fishing nets when they heard the noise, and they didn't forget to call out loudly:

"Ah Wan, who's here?"

"It's Brother Ye Jun!"

Fu Wan responded, and Ye Xiaocui, upon hearing that her nephew had arrived, hurriedly went into the main house.

Ye Jun quickly stood up and greeted Ye Xiaocui and Boss Fu.

"Auntie, Uncle!"

"Hey, Jun, what brings you here so late? Have you eaten yet?"

Ye Jun smiled and said, "My dad said this morning that you guys are going out to sea these two days. My brother didn't bring any change of clothes when he went out this morning, so he specially asked me to bring them over as soon as possible."

In fact, what was delivered was not only clothes, but also Ye Lin's food rations.

This was specially brought out by Li Chunhua. Ye Lin is her son, how could she not know the boy's appetite?

She was afraid that if she didn't bring some food, the boy would eat her sister-in-law's family out of house and home!

When Ye Jun took a large bag out of his basket, Ye Xiaocui was puzzled. But when she saw the flour in the bag, her face immediately turned unhappy.

"Why did you bring food? Do you think I'll go hungry?"

White flour is such a rare commodity; it's obvious that Ye Jianguo and his wife were saving it because they couldn't bear to eat it.

Ye Jun quickly explained, "No way, it's just that my brother ate too much, and my mother felt embarrassed!"

Ye Xiaocui immediately picked up the bag and stuffed it into his basket, saying, "Take it back with you. I have rice and flour here, your brother won't go hungry."

As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Lin heard that his younger brother had arrived, so he washed his hands and came out of the kitchen with the food.

The two brothers were very close when they were young, but now that they are both fathers, and because of what happened recently, they have little to say to each other.

"Here you go, Awan asked Aming to specially stir-fry this for you."

The aroma of food wafted over, and Ye Jun, disregarding all decorum, quickly took the large bowl of rice from Ye Lin's hands.

"Let me do it, it's too hot."

Ye Lin placed the food in front of Ye Jun. The food looked very simple: a bowl of mixed grain rice topped with a lot of stewed pheasant and mushrooms, and a plate of freshly stir-fried green peppers and eggs.

Both dishes were perfect with rice, and Ye Jun had no idea how Fu Ming had cooked them. He felt he had never smelled such delicious food in his life.

Ye Xiaocui could tell from the way he was swallowing so hard that he was starving.

"Ah Jun, hurry up and eat. Your aunt doesn't have any fancy dishes, so eat first and then go to the kitchen for more if you're not full."

Since Ye Xiaocui had said so, Ye Lin didn't bother to be polite, so he agreed and picked up his bowl to start eating.

Perhaps it was because the food smelled so good, or perhaps it was because Ye Xiaocui's gaze was still full of affection for him, but as Ye Jun ate, his eyes involuntarily became a little sore.

Now that I think about what I did to my parents and my brother and sister-in-law, I realize I was worse than a pig or a dog!

Fu Wan immediately noticed that something was wrong with Ye Jun and sighed inwardly.

Ye Jun has indeed changed a lot since our last meeting.

She quickly changed the subject, thinking that she couldn't let Ye Jun cry in front of everyone.

"Brother Jun, we're going out to sea to fish tonight, do you want to come with us?"

Going out to sea to fish had always been Ye Jun's dream, so his eyes lit up when he heard Fu Wan mention going out to sea.

Any sadness from just now was immediately forgotten.

But after thinking about it for a moment, he shook his head and refused.

"Forget it, I have to rush back this afternoon."

Fu Wan was surprised that Ye Jun would refuse, after all, he had been so eager to go to sea that he almost forgot about his family.

Ye Jun noticed the confusion on Fu Wan's face and smiled sheepishly.

"Hey, didn't you tell me before that I could rent a piece of land down the mountain to raise some chickens and ducks? I thought it was a feasible method, and since ducklings are cheap, I bought a lot to raise."

As for the chicks, his mother, Li Chunhua, seeing that he was short of money, secretly saved up a few dozen eggs and traded them with an aunt in the same village who knew how to hatch chicks.

Fu Wan was surprised that he actually listened to her suggestion, and she immediately became happy.

"Ah Jun, is raising chickens and ducks profitable for you?"

Although Ye Xiaocui raised some chickens herself, she only raised them for her own consumption and didn't know the price of free-range chickens outside.

When talking about the chickens and ducks he raises, Ye Jun immediately becomes energetic and enthusiastically introduces his chicken farm to everyone.

“Making money is definitely possible. I’ve inquired and found that restaurants in town also buy free-range chickens, and the prices aren’t low. I feed my chickens rice bran and soaked rapeseed cake, which are cheap. Rapeseed cake is the residue left after pressing rapeseed oil. It can be used to feed chickens and ducks and can also be used for composting. As for the location, my dad and I went to the village chief to apply for permission, and they fenced off a small hill not far from where I live, specifically for raising chickens and ducks.”

"However, weasels and other creatures sometimes come to steal chickens, so I have to go and check every night."

In other words, I basically have to spend all my time at this chicken farm.

However, Ye Jun is very happy with his current life, feeling that it is fulfilling and gives him a sense of purpose.

At this point, Ye Jun couldn't help but thank Fu Wan again, "Wan, you're right. I wasn't thinking clearly before. From now on, I will work hard to build my career."

"That's right, Brother Jun. As long as you're willing to work hard, I believe you can definitely make a lot of money."

Ye Jun nodded solemnly, and Ye Lin, seeing his younger brother's expression, patted him on the shoulder to encourage him.

The two brothers had a tacit understanding, so they didn't bring up the past again.

After finishing his meal, Ye Jun wanted to go home without even taking a break.

All he could think about were his chickens and ducks.

Ye Xiaocui was quite pleased to see his ambitious appearance.

I immediately filled his basket with dried goods, all fish and shrimp that I had dried myself. He said that if he took them home, washed them, added some chili peppers, and stir-fried them, they would taste delicious.
