Chapter 632 God's Backyard

The crane lifted such a large fish that people on a nearby boat saw it and exclaimed in surprise.

John suddenly became smug, standing next to the tuna like a guardian deity; if he had a fishhook, he could practically play Aquaman.

"Fu, you're amazing! I've never seen such a big bluefin tuna! My God, I really can't imagine how much money this fish could make!"

It would be a lie to say he wasn't envious, but despite his envy, John had no desire to possess it whatsoever.

Originally, if Fu Wan hadn't cut his fishing line in time, he would have been dragged into the water by that humpback whale.

Fu Wan was also very happy. She only regretted that she was not in China and could not share her achievements with Boss Fu and Ye Xiaocui.

"Alright, John, put the fish down first, I need to bleed it."

"Oh, okay, look at my damn memory, I almost forgot."

Upon hearing this, John hurriedly operated the crane to lower the tuna, while Fu Wan went to the tool pile and found two sharp long knives.

John also knew how to bleed the tuna. With one cut, the bright red tuna flesh was revealed, making him swallow hard.

Such plump tuna, it looks so rich in oil.

While bleeding the tuna, John explained the regulations for tuna fishing in Florida to Fu Wan.

Although Florida doesn't have many regulations for fish, there are special regulations for tuna because Americans love it.

Fish in Florida tend to be large, and tuna are no exception.

The standard for measurement is that any fish whose length from the lower jaw to the forked part of the tail exceeds one meter must be released back into the sea.

Upon hearing this, Fu Wan recalled that in Los Angeles, the rule was that the fish must be at least 80 centimeters long.

It seems that Florida's regulations are indeed a bit stricter; otherwise, the yellowfin tuna that Jack and his crew caught in Los Angeles might not even be allowed to be brought ashore in Florida.

After bleeding him, to put his mind at ease, John went to rummage through the toolbox and finally found a measuring tape.

He pulled it open and measured it. Good heavens, this tuna was a full 9.2 feet, which is 2.8 meters in Chinese units of measurement.

There wasn't enough cold storage on the ship to hold such a large tuna. Fortunately, the return trip was only a half-hour journey, so John and Fu Wan took all the ice out of the fish box and sprinkled it on the tuna to keep it fresh.

On the way back, they encountered many fishing boats, and the people on board seemed even more excited than Fu Wan.

"Hey buddy, did you catch this fish?! God, this is amazing!"

"Thank God, this tuna is beautiful! What kind of fishing rods are you using?"

One exclamation after another followed. Fu Wan listened from the side, only half understanding, but she responded with many smiles.

"So foreigners were supposed to be aloof, but they're not that aloof at all!" Fu Wan shook her head. John stood by the boat, his mouth practically stretched to his ears in a wide grin.

"Hey guys, see this beautiful tuna? My friend caught it!"

"Fishing rod? Haha, it's the fishing rod I bought!"

The man had lost all his frustration from being drenched by the humpback whale; instead, he was now completely exhilarated.

The gazes of those around her were too intense, so Fu Wan quickly walked towards Bai Qianzhou, leaving John alone to gloat.

Bai Qianzhou was focused on the direction of the journey ahead when he heard Fu Wan approaching and turned to look.

"Why did you come here? The machines are quite loud here."

Fu Wan joked, "No matter how loud it is, it's not as loud as John's voice."

That's true. Bai Qianzhou wholeheartedly agreed, after all, he could hear John's excited voice even while he was sailing the boat.

Fu Wan found a clean place to sit down. It was rare for the two of them to be so close. Bai Qianzhou suddenly felt that the sound of the engine was not as loud as his own heartbeat.

This damn tension.

"Ahem, what are you planning to do with that, that tuna?"

"Hmm, let me think... I should sell it to the person Mr. William introduced."

In a moment of panic, Bai Qianzhou tried to find a topic to talk about, but after Fu Wan gave a casual reply, he couldn't help but feel annoyed at his own clumsiness with words.

What? Old William already mentioned this before. If we don't sell it to him, who else can we sell it to?

Fu Wan noticed his nervousness and chuckled lightly in amusement.

"What's wrong? You're nervous with me sitting here?"

"No...no, I'm not nervous at all."

Bai Qianzhou subconsciously retorted that he was almost thirty years old and usually very calm and composed. It must be because the ship was rocking too much that he felt uncomfortable.

However, things would pass after a while, and Bai Qianzhou quickly adjusted his state and started chatting and laughing with Fu Wan.

Strangely enough, Fu Wan used to keep everyone at arm's length, but she always had an inexplicable feeling towards Bai Qianzhou.

In the past, when Bai Qianzhou got too close to her, she would want to back away. But now, perhaps out of habit, she subconsciously consults with Bai Qianzhou no matter where she goes.

As the ship drew closer to the dock, John ran over from the deck.

"Fu, Bai, how much do you want to sell this tuna? Do you want me to help you contact a fishmonger?"

Although Fu Wan preferred the person recommended by old William, it didn't stop her from asking about the price of tuna in Florida.

"John, do you know how much this fish can sell for?"

"Of course, for such a large fish, we can entrust it to an auction company."

John became animated as he spoke, “But a fish of this size would probably be bought by the most expensive restaurant in Florida.”

They have plenty of money; they certainly wouldn't miss out on such a large tuna.

"The biggest restaurant? What's it called?"

"God's back garden".

God's back garden... This name seems familiar. Fu Wan tried hard to remember, and Bai Qianzhou gave her a hint.

"The business card William gave you last time."

Fu Wan suddenly realized why it looked so familiar. When she saw the business card, she wondered why the restaurant's name was so unconventional.

"Oh, you know about God's back garden? You just mentioned Los Angeles. The news a few days ago said that tuna were caught in Los Angeles too."

Good heavens, could it be you guys too?

John became more and more excited as he spoke. "Why didn't you say so earlier? If I had known that Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou were the Chinese people who went fishing in Los Angeles a few days ago, I would have definitely taken them tuna fishing on the first day!"

We also need to bring along TV reporters!

Fu Wan didn't care about his excitement; she still didn't know how much to sell such a large tuna for.

"John, you still haven't told us how much we can sell these fish for?"

John pondered for a moment, "Oh, let me think... aside from the taxes paid to the state government, I think you should be able to get at least four thousand dollars!"

Hearing that she would have to pay taxes, Fu Wan felt a pang of heartache. But since the tuna was from this area, there was nothing she could do about it.

What she finds distressing is that the taxes are paid to the United States, not China.
