Jin Huashi parked his car in front of the restaurant where they had eaten earlier. Florida was quiet in the middle of the night. The three of them put their things in the trunk and then drove to the house that Jin Huashi had rented.
Jin Huashi's rented place was quite a distance from that sea area. Because of his profession and background, most people didn't know about his house. In the basement there, there were several wooden boxes that he had made by hand.
"This is a house I rent to store my things. Usually, no one comes here."
Jin Huashi parked the car at the entrance and then beckoned Fu Wan and the other person to go into the cellar.
This was Fu Wan's first time entering such a place. There were many things piled up in the Jinhua Ten cellar. She looked around and even saw a wooden gun on a shelf in the corner that was the same as the one Bai Qianzhou was holding.
"Our previous weapons were also prepared by Brother Jin."
Seeing her gaze lingering there, Bai Qianzhou explained in a low voice. He had contacted Jin Huashi before coming to Los Angeles, but Florida is quite a distance from Los Angeles, so Jin Huashi could only have a friend send Bai Qianzhou and his group some self-defense equipment.
This kind of thing is very common in the United States, but fortunately the two of them didn't need it.
While looking around, Jin Huashi pulled out several half-meter-long boxes from the miscellaneous items piled up in the corner.
"I made these things in my spare time, and I never thought they would come in handy today."
When he was young, there was a servant in his family who was an exceptional carpenter, so he learned some skills from her.
Sometimes when he encounters something he can't figure out, he'll take a few pieces of wood and make some handicrafts while thinking about it. That's how these layered wooden boxes came about.
The logs in the wooden box weren't anything precious; Fu Wan could still feel the prickly burrs when she touched them.
But that didn't matter. Jin Huashi turned the wooden box over and rummaged around inside. He pulled out the wooden board at the bottom of the box, and then a square empty space was displayed in front of Fu Wan.
Oh my god!
"This... Brother Jin, did you make this yourself?"
Fu Wan exclaimed in amazement, "My God, there aren't many carpenters with this kind of skill these days!"
Jin Huashi nodded smugly, "How was it? Not bad, right? I learned a little bit, but luckily it came in handy."
"This is more than just good, this is absolutely amazing!"
Fu Wan gave him a thumbs up, and Bai Qianzhou was also amazed. He took the wooden board and covered it up. Once the board was closed, the gaps disappeared, and ordinary people couldn't even tell.
No wonder he said he could use wooden crates to transport gold coins; they really can.
"It's getting late, let's hurry up and put the gold coins in. Tomorrow morning I'll buy some diving equipment and then contact a ship from Fujian Province to send them away."
Jin Huashi pulled out six wooden boxes of roughly the same size, and Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou hurriedly began to sort the gold coins.
These gold coins had to be packed in cloth bags and then stuffed into the empty spaces of a wooden box. To prevent the gold coins from making a clanging sound when moving them, the gold coins had to be packed so tightly that there were no gaps.
Jin Huashi was most adept at this kind of trick of hiding things. He made these wooden boxes in the hopes that his intelligence could be safely sent out at times.
The three of them worked for another half hour before finally managing to stuff nearly forty pounds of gold coins into six wooden boxes.
After hiding the gold coins, Jin Huashi locked the wooden boxes in the cellar, and then sent Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou back to the hotel.
Before parting, he didn't forget to remind Fu Wan and the other woman: "I will send the plane tickets and the things you need over tomorrow morning. There are no direct flights from Florida to Beijing, so I will buy you tickets to Los Angeles this afternoon. You can then transfer in Los Angeles to return to Beijing."
"Alright, then I'll trouble you, Brother Jin."
"It's okay, we all have the same goal."
Jin Huashi, Fu Wan, and Bai Qianzhou waved goodbye, then drove off into the night.
After working late into the night, it was nearly 3 a.m. when Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou quietly entered the hotel.
The hotel receptionist was asleep, so Fu Wan tiptoed toward the stairs with her things. Little did she know, she was almost scared out of her wits by an alligator lying on the edge of the stairs.
My God, I really don't understand why there are so many crocodiles here.
Fortunately, Crocodile Tommy only glanced at Fu Wan and the other person with his eyes open. Seeing this, Bai Qianzhou whispered to Fu Wan, "You go first, I'll go behind."
The imperial seal was in Fu Wan's pocket, while Bai Qianzhou was carrying a broken piece of porcelain.
The two arrived at the room without any major incident. Upon seeing the soft, large bed, Fu Wan instantly felt drowsy and wished she could lie down and sleep immediately.
However, sleeping was out of the question. After working underwater for so long, she needed to go to the bathroom to wash up first.
After washing up, Bai Qianzhou knocked on Fu Wan's door again. He had forgotten the big lobster on Jin Hua Shi Che. Bai Qianzhou thought that he had been tired for so long that night, so he brought over the leftover bread from breakfast.
The two wolfed down their food, both exhausted, and barely exchanged a few words.
That night was so exciting that Fu Wan didn't dream for the first time ever. When she woke up rubbing her temples, it was already broad daylight outside.
Fu Wan took out her watch and looked at it. Good heavens, it was almost ten o'clock.
She hurriedly got up and dressed. Jin Huashi had made an appointment with them last night for the morning, and the morning was almost over. Jin Huashi couldn't wait any longer.
After washing up, Fu Wan went to knock on Bai Qianzhou's door across the hall. The door opened quickly, but the person who opened it was someone Fu Wan didn't expect.
"John?"
"Haha, good morning, Ms. Fu! I didn't expect we'd meet again so soon!"
Upon seeing Fu Wan, John was naturally excited and happy. Bai Qianzhou impatiently pulled him aside, then gently said to Fu Wan, "Come in quickly, the things have all been delivered."
Upon hearing this, Fu Wan hurriedly went inside. As soon as she entered, she saw that the table was covered with shaman masks and a pile of messy yellow talismans.
"this……"
She looked around but didn't see Jin Huashi.
"Brother Jin doesn't want to show his face during the day, so he had John deliver the things. As for the things there, he told us not to worry, he'll handle it."
So that's how it is. Although Fu Wan didn't know Jin Huashi's mission in the United States, she still admired him.
She also believed he could handle the transportation of the gold coins.
Thinking this, Fu Wan picked up a mask from the table and put it on her face. Bai Qianzhou quickly stopped her and then shook his head in disapproval.
"Ah Wan, you can't touch these things carelessly."
Shamanism is more popular in the north, but metaphysics has a long history in China.
These things are a matter of belief; they exist if you believe in them, and they don't if you don't. Bai Qianzhou originally didn't believe in these things, but so much has happened over the years that he felt it was best not to touch such unknown things.
Fu Wan was amused by his serious expression. "It's okay, don't be afraid. This thing doesn't make you perform any rituals just by wearing it."
