Chapter 554 The ship can't be towed anymore!

Ye Xiaocui naturally listened to what her daughter said.

They're such good sisters! Knowing that Ye Xiaocui was going to cook eggs for Fu Wan and the others, Jiang Chunlan also brought over half a basket of eggs.

Seeing Ye Xiaocui go to the backyard to prepare vegetables, Jiang Chunlan followed her.

"Auntie, don't stay home these next few days. Why don't you come over and keep my mother company?"

Fu Liang's family doesn't even keep dogs; the only thing they have is a goose that Jiang Chunlan traded eggs with someone a while ago.

Without much hesitation, Jiang Chunlan agreed, "Okay, I'll pack my things and come over tonight."

With them and the two children together, plus Wangcai and the neighbors looking after them, Fu Wan and the others felt much more at ease.

As luck would have it, Bai Qianzhou brought the remaining radio over early this morning, and after a lot of work, he finally got it installed.

However, he's been busy lately, and after finishing installing the radio, he didn't have time to stay for a meal before driving back to the camp.

After seeing that everything had been loaded onto the ship, Boss Fu looked around the dock and, seeing that everyone had arrived, gave a shout.

"Get on board, we're ready to set sail!"

Village Chief Fu and Grandpa Fu stood at the dock watching them leave. Grandpa Fu hadn't been out for a few days. The last time Grandpa Fu's new boat arrived at the port and they set off firecrackers, he was resting at home because of leg pain.

Hearing that Grandpa Fu was going to the distant sea, Grandpa Fu insisted on coming out to join in the fun, even though he was leaning on his cane.

"You're back safe and sound! Everyone's eagerly waiting to see what your ship has hauled!"

"Yeah, I can't wait!"

"Yes, look at the names of these ships, all of them are sailing back fully loaded. I want to go out to sea with them!"

"You're kidding me. You think you can handle the hardships of sailing out to sea?"

The villagers chattered amongst themselves as Fu Wan and her companions waved goodbye to Ye Xiaocui, Jiang Chunlan, and the others on the dock from the deck.

There were more than a dozen people on the three boats. On Fu Wan's boat, Boss Fu was the captain, and she was with Ye Lin, Fu Shifang, and Fu Qing.

On Fu Ming's ship, the Sailing Ship, Chen Balang was the captain, and Fu Ming, Fu Dahai, and Ye Jianguo were also on board.

On Fu Liang's ship, the Forward, were Fu Liang, Fu Dayong, and Fu Xiaochuan, whom Fu Dayong had introduced.

Fu Liang's boat was a bit smaller than Fu Ming's, so he felt that three people would be enough.

Fu Xiaochuan was also a fellow villager who worked with Fu Dayong and others moving goods at the dock. He was not highly educated and had not finished primary school.

There were many children in the family and not much money. Although he was the eldest, he was five years younger than Fu Liang.

He's not married yet, and he's a silly young man who's always grinning.

It took Fu Laoda more than half an hour to get out of sight of the fishing boats.

The dock has long since disappeared above the sea.

"Dad, where are we headed now? Straight to the deep sea?"

Boss Fu thought for a moment, "You told me the other day that you wanted to go check out bird's nests, how about we go now?"

Fu Wan pondered for a moment, then glanced at the boats following behind and said, "Uncle Chen and his crew both have new crew members on their boats, so I don't really want to take them to Yanwo Island."

Besides Ye Lin, there were also Fu Shi, Fang Min, and Fu Qing on their own boat.

Fang Min and Fu Qing were a little better off, but Fu Wan didn't dare to completely trust Fu Shi either.

Boss Fu sighed, "Then today isn't really a good day to go to the island."

"Why don't you put me down and take a look?"

"No, it's getting dark, I can't let you go to the island alone."

Putting everything else aside, just considering the sea snakes and such on the island, Boss Fu wouldn't feel comfortable letting Fu Wan go to the island alone.

"How about this, we'll go to the deep sea first, and if we pass by on our way back, let Brother Ye Lin take the boat and we'll go to the island to take a look."

Upon hearing this, Boss Fu immediately agreed, "Alright, let's go to the deep sea first."

Once she confirmed that she was going to the deep sea, Fu Wan turned on the radio.

She picked up the walkie-talkie and called out to Fu Ming and Fu Liang behind her, "Brother Liang, Brother Ming, we're going out to sea for the deep sea now."

"Okay, Wan, this thing is actually pretty useful!"

Fu Ming's voice came through the radio, while Chen Balang, who was holding the helm, looked on with great curiosity.

Goodness gracious! Don't let Fu Laoda's dilapidated appearance fool you, he has some high-tech stuff on board!

However, Chen Balang has some suggestions regarding going to the open sea.

“Old... Fu Wan, is your father here? If we’re going to the deep sea, I know a place there. There should be ribbonfish there at night these days. Do you want to go check it out?”

Fu Wan looked at Boss Fu, and Boss Fu nodded to her.

"Okay, Uncle Chen, you drive in front, and we'll follow behind."

Fu Liang and the others listened to the sounds from the radio and remained silent for a long time, which was unusual.

"Stop standing there, hurry up and chase after them!"

Seeing Fu Ming and his group's ship speed up and sail away, Fu Xiaochuan couldn't help but feel anxious.

Fu Dayong hurriedly turned the rudder and chased after Fu Ming and the others.

The place Chen Balang was referring to was located several hundred nautical miles north of Yanwo Island.

Chen Balang had only been there once a few years ago by chance. On that occasion, they harvested several thousand kilograms of ribbonfish, which made the boat owner a fortune.

Without saying a word, Boss Fu accepted him onto the ship and even gave him twice the salary he had before. Chen Balang thought about it all night before figuring out what he could give in return.

That means taking Boss Fu and the others to catch ribbonfish!

They sailed for nearly two hours, covering several hundred nautical miles, and around 7 p.m., Fu Wan and her boat finally arrived at the place Chen Balang had mentioned.

“Our ship isn’t suitable for radar netting, Lao Chen, you operate the radar netting, and I’ll go with A Liang and the others to trawle.”

"Okay, then I'll throw the anchor out."

The radio kept ringing back and forth, and Fu Liang only understood that Boss Fu told him to drag the net.

"Dayong, stop the boat first, Xiaochuan and I will go set up the trawl net."

Fu Dayong naturally had no objection; he was more interested in the radar network that Chen Balang had mentioned.

Fu Wan and the others did the same. After pushing the trawl net into the sea, she and Fang Min simply stood on the dock and watched Chen Balang use the radar net.

"That's amazing!"

Fu Qing clapped her hands and cheered. She was wrapped up tightly by Fang Min. Since it was her first time at sea, everything seemed strange and wonderful to her.

However, they didn't have much time to watch Chen Balang operate the net. The trawl net couldn't be left in one place; it had to be towed over a long distance by boat. So, not long after, Boss Fu steered the boat to the other side again.

Because of the wireless positioning, Fu Liang didn't go in the same direction as Boss Fu. However, he was timid and didn't dare to go too far. He only dredged the net not far from Chen Balang.

Seeing that she had nothing to do and it was still early, Fu Wan simply took the bucket and went with Fang Min to the side to prepare bait for the extended fishing later.

The meal consisted of a mix of shrimp, fish chunks, and octopus pieces, along with pig liver that Fu Ming had specially ordered from Fu Dazhuang today. Because it had been sitting out all morning, the smell was so fishy that Fu Qing's eyebrows furrowed in dismay.

After preparing the bait, the group released the extended line. After finishing these tasks, Fu Wan glanced at the time and found that less than two hours had passed.

However, at that moment, Fu Laoda's shout came from ahead.

"Ah Lin, Ah Wan, go haul in the net! The boat can't move it anymore!"
