Chapter 248 An Encounter with Dolphins

Fu Wan couldn't possibly sell out her own brother, so she could only make small talk to appease Ye Xiaocui.

"Ah, he might be looking for any more mantis shrimp."

Ye Xiaocui frowned and shook her head. "There are definitely none. I've checked that place. Apart from the small shrimp, we've caught all the bigger ones."

Fu Wan quickly tried to distract her, "Mom, look at this coconut snail, is it okay to cut it like this?"

Ye Xiaocui's attention was successfully drawn, and she stopped paying attention to Fu Ming. "Okay, let's make some noodles for lunch, and then add some mantis shrimp and clams."

"Okay, then I'll have to eat a lot at lunch today. I haven't had these fairy clams in years, I really miss the taste!"

"Good, good, you brought a lot of noodles today too!"

It wasn't just noodles, it even included freshly picked leafy greens from the backyard.

Jiang Chunlan and Ye Xiaocui picked out a few hard-looking stones and piled them up to make a simple stove.

Then they placed the stainless steel pot on top, poured in clean fresh water, and lit dry leaves and twigs with a match.

Fu Wan washed the clams and mantis shrimp that she was going to put into the noodles in the nearby trench. She had to admit, the clams were really beautiful.

In the 1980s, dried noodles were more expensive than wheat flour and rice. Fu Ming went out early this morning and bought two large bundles of dried noodles, which he brought with him.

After the water boiled, Fu Wan prepared to cook the mantis shrimp and clams first. She hadn't taken the clams home to raise them to remove the sand, so she planned to boil a few to check if they were clean inside.

After cooking for a few minutes, the clams all opened up. Fu Wan picked one up with the chopsticks next to her and examined it carefully. There was indeed no sand in it.

As long as there's no sand!

Just then, Fu Ling came running over, drawn by the aroma. Seeing the seashells Fu Wan had picked up, she also felt hungry.

"Mom, is this seashell cooked?"

Fu Wan dropped the fairy shell from her chopsticks into the container, then picked up another one.

"They should be cooked by now. Are you hungry?"

Fu Ling nodded emphatically. Qin Mingzhu walked over with Xiao Huang. After playing all morning, she was also hungry.

"I'll take out a small bowl of shrimp and shellfish for you two first. You can wait for it to cool down a bit before you eat."

The shellfish that were just caught were scalding hot, and the mantis shrimp were even hotter; you could burn your hand when you pulled off their tails.

Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu are both children with very delicate skin. If they are accidentally burned, it will sting painfully.

The shellfish and mantis shrimp were cooked. Fu Wan noticed there was still some sand at the bottom of the pot, so she simply poured out the water, washed the pot, and then added some fresh water to cook the noodles.

The noodles cooked quickly, and Ye Xiaocui took the bowl and started dividing the noodles, while Jiang Chunlan went to call Fu Liang and Boss Fu to eat.

"Brother, it's time to eat!"

Fu Ming heard Fu Wan's call, responded, and went over.

"So, how was it? Did you find anything?"

Fu Ming shook his head and then nodded. Fu Wan was wondering what was going on when he took out a few cat's-eye snails from his pocket.

"I only found a few cat's eye snails."

"Cat's eye snails are good too, maybe next time there will be coconut snails."

Fu Wan comforted him, saying that the cat's eye snails in Fu Ming's hand were quite large. Fu Ming nodded approvingly, then put the cat's eye snails into the bucket, washed his hands, and prepared to turn his grief and anger into appetite.

"Hey, you know what, the noodles taste really good on this island."

Jiang Chunlan sighed, and Fu Liang and Fu Ming, who were next to her, nodded in agreement while holding their bowls of noodles.

This is just like eating instant noodles on a train in later generations—it has a unique flavor!

Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu were also eating their bowls of noodles, while Little Huang tilted its head and watched the group of two-legged creatures eating.

"Is this guy hungry too?"

Fu Ming took a sip of noodle soup and then met Xiao Huang's gaze.

Upon hearing Fu Ming's words, Fu Ling thought for a moment and asked Fu Wan, "Mom, can I give Xiao Huang some noodles?"

Fu Wan always respected her opinion, "Feed her one if you want, but Xiao Huang eats meat, not necessarily noodles."

The next second, she was proven wrong. That weirdo, Little Yellow, actually went over and picked up the noodles that Fu Ling had put on the ground, then ate them with a smacking sound.

It even eats noodles!

Fu Ming was peeling mantis shrimp when he suddenly became interested and tossed the mantis shrimp shells in front of Xiao Huang.

Who knew that Little Yellow glanced up, walked over with its little paws, turned around, and pointed its tail at Fu Ming.

Then, in full view of everyone, Xiao Huang left Fu Ming a pile of poop as a way of repaying him.

Hahahaha!

Fu Wan laughed so hard she almost dropped her bowl. Fu Liang and Jiang Chunlan couldn't help but laugh too, and silently turned away while still holding their bowls.

As for Ye Xiaocui and her husband, they turned away speechlessly, pretending not to have seen anything.

At lunchtime, Fu Ming and Fu Liang washed the stainless steel pots and other items and took them onto the boat, while Fu Wan carried half a bucket of seawater to cool down the stone stove that had just been lit.

After finishing all that, she and Ye Xiaocui took Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu onto the ship. As for Xiao Huang, he was carried onto the ship like an ancestor.

The people on both boats were the same as when they arrived. When Boss Fu saw that everyone had boarded the boat, he shouted to Fu Liang and the others, then started the diesel engine, turned the rudder, and headed towards Yanwo Island.

There was a slight breeze on the sea at this time, and Fu Wan sat in the shade of the deck, enjoying the wind and admiring the scenery on the sea.

"Mom, look, so many big white birds!"

Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu were playing with Xiao Huang when they heard continuous bird calls from the sea. So they leaned over the side of the boat and looked at the seabirds in the distance.

Xiao Huang saw seabirds circling in the distance, flapped its wings a few times, but ultimately failed to take flight.

Fu Wan heard Fu Ling's shout and looked in the direction she was pointing.

Fu Ling only saw seabirds flying around on the sea, but she also saw several dorsal fins appearing on the surface of the sea.

Could it be a baby killer whale?

Before Fu Wan could figure out the origin of the dorsal fin, a figure burst out of the water, drew a beautiful arc in the air, and then plunged back into the sea.

The mist it created, under the sunlight, even produced a fleeting rainbow.

Those are dolphins!

"Mom, there's a big fish!"

Fu Ling also saw the dolphin's figure and jumped and bounced excitedly.

"Swim, let's pull it out!"

"We can't fish this out!" Fu Wan thought, feeling embarrassed. Ye Xiaocui heard the commotion and came out of the cabin.

"Ah Wan, is there a big fish? Should we set a trawl net?"

Fu Wan shook her head, "Mother, it's a dolphin!"

dolphin? !

Boss Fu also saw the dolphins that had just jumped out of the water. No wonder there were so many seabirds over there; the dolphins were probably hunting.

He reduced the horsepower and slowed the boat down, slowly heading towards the area with the most seabirds.

A place with many seabirds means there are many fish on the surface of the sea, and there might even be schools of fish.

"Ah Wan, watch the timing, and when it's about right, lower the trawl net."

"Okay!"

After Fu Wan finished answering Fu Laoda's question, she was about to go with Ye Xiaocui to untangle the trawl net when, unexpectedly, a big commotion occurred on the sea the next second.

There were about a dozen dolphins leaping out of the water and then rushing back into the sea.

The spectacular scene left everyone stunned.
