Chapter 293 Lionfish

"If I can see the lobster whiskers, then there must be lobsters." Fu Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief; today's trip wasn't in vain!

At this moment, the little green dragon in the coral reef cave was unaware of the approaching danger. In her excitement, Fu Wan didn't even take any tools. She simply reached into the cave with both hands and pulled out a little green dragon along the lobster's whiskers.

But when she finally caught the little green dragon, she was somewhat dissatisfied.

The reason is simple: this little green dragon is just too small!

She gestured a couple of times, and the little green dragon she had finally found had a tail that was less than half the width of her palm.

It truly lives up to its name as a "small" Azure Dragon!

Fu Wan shook her head helplessly, and finally let go of it.

You should know that the only part of the baby dragon that you can eat is its tail. If it's too small, it's easy for it to become top-heavy and there's not much meat on its tail. It's better to let it grow a bit bigger before trying to catch it.

The little green dragon was still struggling when the binding force suddenly disappeared. Once it realized what was happening, it immediately fled far away at the fastest speed a shrimp could go, stirring up a lot of mud and sand that made the seawater quite turbid.

Since the lobster she had just caught wasn't big enough, Fu Wan had no choice but to continue searching in the caves under the coral reef.

There are definitely lobsters here, but you'll have to look carefully.

Fu Wan wondered if the noise from catching the lobster had disturbed the other lobsters in the lobster hole. She even lifted up the nearby coral reefs, but still couldn't find a single lobster.

It looks like we'll have to find another place.

She turned nimbly like a fish, and just as she was about to head towards the coral reef next to her, a beautiful lionfish slowly swam past her not far away.

Lionfish, also known as scorpionfish, is one of the edible sea fish in the local area. These fish are small to medium-sized, with a body length of about 25 to 40 centimeters. The lionfish in front of Fu Wan was obviously not very old; she estimated that it was no more than 30 centimeters long.

However, she couldn't help but admire its beauty. The lionfish was indeed beautiful, with yellow skin, red and brown stripes, and its pectoral fins spread out like a peacock's tail. (Image of a lionfish from the internet, please delete if infringing.) Beautiful creatures in the biological world often harbor danger, and the lionfish is no exception. From a young age, Fu Wan had been taught by her elder brother to stay away from this kind of fish, knowing that its venomous spines were no joke.

If you are stung by a poisonous stinger, you may experience headaches, dizziness, and swelling at the site of the injury, or even death in severe cases.

Since her rebirth, Fu Wan had never seen a lionfish. Now that she saw this fish, she was afraid of disturbing the little cutie, so she simply stopped swimming away and waited for the lionfish to swim away.

However, the lionfish clearly had no intention of leaving. It slowly swam to the edge of the coral reef and then stopped there!

At this moment, its pectoral fins spread out, and its bright color almost blended into the coral reef next to it. If Fu Wan hadn't just seen it swim over and stop there, she wouldn't have been able to see where the lionfish was.

This lionfish is clearly waiting on the reef for fish, preparing to ambush some scoundrel!

Sure enough, the next second, a small sea fish emerged from the coral reef and greedily ate the seaweed growing on it.

Just as it got a little closer, the lionfish swiftly attacked, and in the blink of an eye, the small sea fish was swallowed by the lionfish.

What a spectacular hunting scene at sea!

The same principle applies to marine and terrestrial ecosystems: the survival of the fittest.

Thinking this, Fu Wan was about to leave after watching the lionfish's fierce hunting process when suddenly, her vision blurred and a long creature leaped out of the mud and then bit the lionfish next to her, startling Fu Wan so much that she instinctively retreated several meters away.

Even from a distance, she could still see what was happening. The lionfish clearly hadn't expected something to be hiding in the mud. After struggling for a while, it was dragged into the mud by that thing and eventually went silent.

Good heavens, those long strips are clearly what the locals call devil worms!

The devil worm, also known as the barnacle worm, is scientifically named *Bobbita worm*. This creature has segmented bodies, somewhat resembling a terrestrial centipede.

However, the Bobbit worm is much more ferocious than a centipede. Its colors are also incredibly vibrant, with dark brown and golden-red hues creating a rainbow-like effect. (Image of Bobbit worm from the internet, please delete if infringing. A little scary, though.) This type of sea worm generally lives in waters 10 to 40 meters deep, preferring to hide in the mud and sand to hunt passing fish. It is extremely aggressive and has a remarkably fast reaction speed.

Seeing that there was no more movement from the other side, Fu Wan patted her frightened heart and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

When she touched her forehead, she realized that she was in the sea and there was no such thing as sweat.

Fu Wan couldn't help but laugh at herself, and then quickly turned around and swam in the opposite direction of the Bobbit worm.

Having been to the sea so many times, this was the first time she had encountered a Bobbit worm. You have to understand, these things have incredible pulling power; they're so ferocious they could even drag a shark into the sand.

It seems that the seabed at night is not only lively, but also fraught with danger.

Thinking of this, Fu Wan didn't dare to be careless. She turned around and took off the harpoon from her back. In case she encountered someone who was aggressive, at least she would have a weapon.

After swimming for another ten minutes or so, the number of fish around them had noticeably increased. Fu Wan resisted the urge to spear the fish, then stopped in a coral reef and began searching for the little green dragon.

While searching for her, she silently prayed, "May Goddess Mazu bless me so that I can successfully catch the little green dragon. Yes, it has to be a big little green dragon."

She has to catch the smaller ones and then let them go, which is such a waste of time!

Perhaps the Goddess Mazu truly heard Fu Wan's heartfelt words. Just as she lifted up a piece of coral reef, four or five little green dragons were hiding inside, and she caught them red-handed!

Hey, she finally found it!

Fu Wan flipped over the coral reef and then quickly scooped the net she had prepared over the target.

Fortunately, the little green dragons didn't react in time, and with her holding a net in one hand and catching the shrimp trying to escape in the other, she managed to capture all five little green dragons.

These baby dragons are all of good weight; each one is twice the size of the one that was just released.

After the little green dragon fell into the net, it began to struggle with a creaking sound. She simply pulled the knot on the opening of the net, and the opening of the net was immediately locked.

She then made sure to restore the coral reefs to their original state, knowing that these coral reefs, like the plants on land, are living things.

If Fu Wan doesn't restore the coral reef to its original state, it will eventually die because there's no sediment at the bottom, and it will become just an ordinary rock on the seabed.

This is common knowledge for people living by the sea; when they go beachcombing, they remember to flip the rocks they've turned over back over.

Fu Wan was overjoyed to have caught five little green dragons in one go.

Tonight's outing wasn't as smooth as usual; I even watched an underwater horror movie. But thankfully, these five little green dragons weigh at least ten kilograms each, so the mission is more than half complete.

Just as Fu Wan was dragging her net to the next coral reef, she suddenly noticed a large rock next to her that looked really strange!
