Chapter 814 Fu Wan is Sick

What Ye Xiaocui didn't know was that the reason they were advising her was because they were afraid she would suffer a loss. Fu Ming and Boss Fu had secretly contacted these people beforehand. If they were men, they would give them a warning with a punch. If they were women, they would beat up their husbands.

Although fighting can land you in jail these days, Fu Ming and his group are in the right!

Qin Anning works for the country; not going home is for the greater good, sacrificing her own family. These people are making a fuss, but if the police were really called, they wouldn't dare say a word.

After learning about this, Village Chief Fu gave them a warning, and those gossips finally quieted down. Although no one knows what happened behind their backs, at least Fu Wan and the others didn't hear them gossiping about Qin Anning anymore.

It was all just jealousy at work.

Ever since Fu Wan returned to sea last year, the Fu family's shipping business has been booming.

Originally, everyone relied on the sea for their livelihood, and seafood was basically enough to barely make ends meet.

As a result, over the past year, Fu Wan's seafood has become more and more valuable. In just one year, they have acquired a color TV, a motorcycle tricycle, and even a four-wheeled vehicle that they had never seen before.

If Fu Ming were a bachelor who had been jilted, everyone could probably accept it a little better.

But then, this guy turned around and actually found a city girl with a stable job as his wife.

The key is that she's good-looking and rich.

Who wouldn't be envious?

But being envious shouldn't lead to trouble. After hearing the old village chief say that slandering soldiers would result in being arrested and imprisoned, the villagers no longer dared to make up stories or spread rumors.

In particular, the Fu family is not to be trifled with, and since Fu Dahai and Fu Xiaochuan became boatmen, many people in the village have spontaneously begun to protect Fu Wan's family.

After all, everyone hoped that when the ship needed more people, Fu Wan's family would consider them.

"Mom, there's nothing for me to do, I'll go back and rest first."

Fu Wan rubbed her temples; she hadn't slept well last night, and her head was a little sore.

Upon hearing this, Ye Xiaocui subconsciously glanced at the grandfather clock, just as it struck ten.

Seeing her daughter yawning repeatedly, Ye Xiaocui couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

She said considerately, "Then you go to sleep first, I'll wake you up when lunch is ready."

Fu Wan waved her hand, "No need to call me, you guys eat first. Just leave me some food, I'll eat it myself when I wake up."

"Okay, that works too."

After explaining all this, Fu Wan turned around and went back to her house.

She slept soundly until the sky was completely dark. When Fu Wan was awakened by a chill, it was already dark outside.

She took out her watch from the table and saw that it was already 5 p.m. She had slept for a full seven hours.

But thinking about it, it's normal. I didn't sleep well the past two days at sea, and last night I was worried because Qin Mingzhu had a fever.

After sleeping for seven hours, Fu Wan felt full of energy.

Qin Mingzhu and Fu Ling were not in the new house. Fu Wan washed her face before going downstairs to the old house.

Just as she stepped out, she ran into Qin Anning, who had come looking for her.

"Ah Wan, you're awake? How are you feeling?"

"Ah, that's good."

Fu Wan was a little confused. Looking at the worry on Qin Anning's face, she belatedly realized that she had probably slept for too long, and everyone thought she was sick too.

The two chatted and laughed as they walked toward the old house. As soon as they entered, Bai Qianzhou brought over an enamel mug.

"Ah Wan, drink this."

Fu Wan took it in surprise, "What is this?"

"I just made ginger soup, drink some to sweat it out."

Bai Qianzhou had noticed that Fu Wan had some early symptoms of a cold, but now that she had taken a nap, she seemed to be feeling much better.

"Ginger soup? I'm not sick."

Fu Wan was disgusted; the ginger soup and brown sugar water both smelled awful. Ye Xiaocui, who was standing nearby, became anxious when she saw that Fu Wan wasn't drinking them.

"Hurry up and drink some. Xiaobai has been cooking it for over half an hour, and it's been kept warm in the pot while you were still asleep."

Oh dear, you have no idea, I asked the kids to call you for lunch, but they couldn't wake you up no matter how hard they tried.

We were terrified! If Xiaobai hadn't said you just had a slight chill, I would have had your dad carry you straight to the hospital!

He can't wake up on his own?

Fu Wan scratched her head and thought about it carefully.

It seemed that Fu Ling and the others had come in and called her, but she was too sleepy and felt like she couldn't keep her eyes open. She struggled for a couple of seconds and then fell asleep again.

Could it be that I've really caught a cold?

Thinking of this, Fu Wan looked at Bai Qianzhou. This person wouldn't make ginger soup for her for no reason, would he?

This sight amused Fu Wan.

Bai Qianzhou was puzzled when she saw that the woman was smiling at him instead of drinking.

It was Fu Ling who reacted first.

"Haha, Uncle Xiaobai, your face looks like a big cat's face!"

Qin Mingzhu covered her mouth and chuckled, while Bai Qianzhou subconsciously reached out to wipe it, but the more he wiped, the more it spread.

"Hehe, it probably got scratched when I was tending the fire..."

Before he could finish speaking, Fu Wan casually took the wet towel off the bamboo pole.

The cold, damp towel pressed against Bai Qianzhou's face, but he didn't feel any chill; instead, he could feel the blood rushing wildly through his body.

Besides the sound of my own rapid heartbeat, I couldn't hear anything else.

"How did you manage to get yourself all bruised up like this while just starting a fire..."

Fu Wan muttered to herself, "Only this guy has good facial features; this charcoal smear doesn't affect his looks at all."

Fu Wan was a little puzzled when Bai Qianzhou didn't speak for a while. Upon closer inspection, she realized that her brother had actually turned red.

Seriously? You're that shy?

I didn't see him like this when we were in the same room with the Kuomintang in the US!

"I...I can do it myself!"

Fu Ming and Ye Xiaocui, along with a few others, were secretly watching the show, and even Qin Mingzhu had her eyes wide open with a smile on her face.

Only Fu Ling looked puzzled. "Uncle Xiao Bai has become stupid. He can't even wipe the dust off properly!"

She missed lunch, but dinner was quite good. Fu Wan's stomach was empty, so it wouldn't be appropriate to drink ginger soup right away. She simply put the ginger soup aside and waited until after dinner to drink it.

It started raining around five o'clock, and now, while we're eating, the rain has gotten heavier.

Fu Wan picked up a piece of squid with her chopsticks, glancing outside as she ate.

"This rain will probably last for several days, so we really don't need to go out to sea."

Old Master Fu was peeling shrimp for his granddaughter when he heard this and nodded in agreement.

"Indeed, we don't need to go out to sea. That's perfect. Everyone was exhausted the past few days, so it's good for them to rest."

Fu Wan was surprised by Fu Laoda's insight. She knew that her father had also been reborn, which meant that Fu Laoda was also aware that there would be a fishing ban in the future.

The fishing ban period is generally from May to early September. During this period, fishermen cannot go out to sea and can only make money by selling dried goods or engaging in aquaculture.

"Does that mean we won't be able to go out and earn money for several days?"

Fu Ming was not happy; not being able to go to sea meant he couldn't make money.

Boss Fu rolled his eyes at him. "You can't earn all the money in the world. If you had to spend every day at sea, could you handle it?"

Fu Ming chuckled, "I can't stand it. Anning happens to have a few days off, so I'll take her to the county town to see a movie!"

I heard there's a new movie coming out in theaters recently!

Fu Wan suddenly remembered what Ye Jianguo had said that morning, and turned to ask Qin Anning and Bai Qianzhou.

"How many days off do you two have? I'm planning to go to Qingshan Village in the next couple of days, want to come along and have some fun?"
