Chapter 117 117 A Spiritual Journey Through the Void
Jiang Yan led the group on a journey of stops and starts, until they arrived at a small town brimming with spiritual energy. They planned to rest there for a few days before continuing their travels.
Our accommodation was in the liveliest part of the town, with numerous food vendors lining the street as soon as we stepped outside. The closer we got to Qimeng Mountain, the more bustling it became. The food vendors here were also much better at cooking than the ones we'd encountered before. Lately, whenever Coal Ball went out, his mouth just wouldn't stop eating.
He couldn't help but drool when he saw the food on the roadside, his eyes lighting up and his mouth watering.
After dinner, Jiang Yan went out for a stroll with a lump of coal in her arms. When the shopkeepers saw her, they said to her warmly, "Miss, hurry up and buy some food for your spirit pet. Look how hungry he is. My things are not expensive."
Jiang Yan glanced speechlessly at the coal ball in her arms, then covered its mouth with her hand and awkwardly smiled at the shopkeeper, saying, "It just ate, it's not hungry, it's just craving something."
"Woo woo~" Coal Ball whimpered unwillingly. Although it had eaten some food, it was still not full!
Jiang Yan ignored it, covered its mouth tightly, and quickly moved to another place to wander around.
They arrived at a juggling stall, where a spectacular performance left the audience in awe, with continuous applause erupting around them.
A few people stood there watching for a while, and just as they were getting into the exciting part, Jiang Yan felt her little finger being tugged.
She turned her head and saw that the green snake that had been wrapped around her wrist had suddenly transformed into human form, its eyes fixed on her in the night: "I'll take you to a good place."
Jiang Yan was startled, and then he pulled her away from the crowd.
In a flash, he brought her to a decorated boat in the center of town, where fine wine and delicacies were already laid out. The melodious sound of a guqin drifted from behind a screen.
Jiang Yan could see the scenery on the shore as soon as she sat down.
Although not as grand and imposing as her former home, it possesses a rustic charm steeped in the passage of time. Every brick and tile is covered with a layer of green moss. This subtle yet vibrant life force always makes people linger.
Lin Yun poured her a glass of wine, and in an instant, the rich aroma of the wine filled Jiang Yan's nostrils. She couldn't help but take a small sip, and her lips and teeth were instantly filled with its fragrance.
"Good wine."
She can hold her liquor fairly well, but she's no match for Lin Yun.
In the end, Jiang Yan didn't know how much wine she had drunk; all she knew was that the figures in front of her became overlapping and layered.
She propped herself up on her elbows, looking at the scenery and then at him, and said drunkenly, "Lin...Lin Yun, you're so handsome..."
Lin Yun gazed intently at her; her rosy cheeks and delicate features were strangely captivating in the dim light. His composure, maintained all night, crumbled completely at her soft call; his breath hitched, and his eyes deepened.
Just as she was about to fall onto the table, he swiftly reached out and caught her head, then moved with lightning speed to her side and pulled her slender body into his arms...
His feelings were like wildfire, and all he wanted to do was hold the person in his arms. But reason told him that he couldn't take advantage of her vulnerability.
Later, Jiang Yan probably felt uncomfortable, so she adjusted herself and then comfortably rested her head on his lap.
She hadn't noticed when she picked up a strand of his hair and twirled it around her fingertip. Inadvertently, she glanced up and her watery eyes met his burning gaze.
Perhaps because she was drunk, she couldn't help but reach out and touch his face: "How can there be such a handsome little snake in the world?"
Lin Yun looked intently at her and asked, "Do you like it?"
Jiang Yan paused slightly, her hand stroking his cheek. She glanced at him blankly, gave a slight smile, and then tilted her head and fell asleep…
Lin Yun sighed helplessly, "Couldn't you have said a few sweet words to me while you were drunk?"
He sighed softly, "Never mind, this young master is magnanimous and will not hold it against you."
He picked up a greenish-blue scale with his fingertips and gently pressed it against her chest. Instantly, the scale transformed into a warm current that silently seeped into the depths of her heart.
"I will give you my toughest weakness, and you will be safe and sound."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Yun picked the person up and strode out of the boat.
A gentle evening breeze swept by, and he lowered his gaze. The sleeping face of the person in his arms was serene and beautiful, blooming silently under the moonlight. All around was quiet, except for the surging emotions in his heart within the night.
When Lin Yun carried Jiang Yan to the inn, the others had already returned. Ling Yue was the first to discover that Jiang Yan was missing, and he immediately rushed to look for her, but was quickly stopped by Feng Qingyu.
After Feng Qingyu's analysis, everyone quickly calmed down. However, the thought that Lin Yun had abducted the person still stirred up feelings of jealousy.
Seeing Lin Yun carrying the person back, everyone's eyes were like daggers, as if they wanted to shoot him into a sieve...
Lin Yun calmly carried her back to the room, and then shamelessly transformed himself back into his original form, wrapping himself around her ankle.
Feng Qingyu raised his hand, intending to peel her ankle off. Tonight, he and Dongfang Chen were staying in Jiang Yan's room to rest, and he really didn't want to see this shameless stinking snake.
Lin Yun said silently, "Don't move, I'm channeling my qi into her! It's easy to go into qi deviation."
Feng Qingyu chuckled lightly, "What a shameless bastard."
That's enough, go to sleep!
The town was surrounded by abundant spiritual energy, and Jiang Yan stayed there for a few days, successfully leveling up.
This upgrade seemed even easier than the last one; the energy within my body was very stable, as if it were all happening naturally.
After entering the Void Refinement stage, the body seemed to become increasingly light.
Xiao Mei's excited voice echoed in his mind: "Host, I heard that after entering this period, you can travel through the void in your mind! Take me for a tour!"
Jiang Yan smiled, closed her eyes, and sat cross-legged on the bed...
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself passing through the clouds and floating in the boundless heavens.
Xiao Mei had already glimpsed the scene before her through her sea of consciousness: "Wow~ Host! This feels amazing!"
"Is that the Heavenly Court?!"
Jiang Yan turned her head and saw a magnificent palace nestled deep in the clouds, heavily guarded.
People envy the carefree life in heaven, but they don't know that these magnificent palaces are also a kind of prison. These immortals in the heavenly court, who seem to be detached from worldly affairs, have in fact been refined into the most indifferent and ruthless beings.
Xiaomei suggested, "Shall we go take a look?"
"I'm not going."
Jiang Yan turned around and planned to go elsewhere, but she was immediately blocked by an old immortal with a white beard.
"Miss Jiang, please don't be in such a hurry to leave. I have a few words I'd like to say to you."
Jiang Yan frowned and sized him up, then chuckled, "It's been so many years, has the Old Man of the Moon grown so old?"
The Old Man of the Moon frowned slightly: "The fairy is still as outspoken as ever. In these Nine Heavens, only you dare to speak to me like this!"
Jiang Yan raised an eyebrow: "I'm just a first-level flower cultivator now, not some fairy. You are a top-tier elder in the Nine Heavens, who wouldn't show you respect?"
"Are you teasing me like this because you resent me for finding you so many Daoist partners?"
Jiang Yan raised an eyebrow and said indifferently, "I wouldn't dare. I'm too grateful to even ask. In this Heavenly Court, which is accustomed to ruling the fate of mortals, we only need to do our duty. How dare we complain? What do you say, Old Man of the Moon?"
“Fairy You Tan, you…” The Old Man of the Moon sighed and said, “I won’t talk to you about those things, let’s talk about something else.”
