After dinner, the group sat around the coffee table.
Lu Qingzhou sat alone on the balcony because he wanted to smoke.
Zhang Ruoshui looked tenderly at Momo and Zhouzhou sitting on her lap and asked softly, "Zhouzhou, Momo, what do you do at school?"
When the two little girls heard their grandmother ask about school, they immediately became interested and started chattering away to tell Zhang Ruoshui about it. Their lively conversation made Zhang Ruoshui laugh out loud.
Zhang Ruoshui smiled and continued, "Do your teachers just play with you all day? Do they teach you anything else?"
Su Qingyao chimed in from the side, "They're only in the first grade. All they do all day is play. The teacher probably doesn't teach them anything else."
However, the two little girls immediately objected and quickly retorted, "Our teacher teaches us to read, sing, and even learn idioms!"
Now that you say that,
The group immediately became interested. "The teacher even teaches you idioms? That's amazing!"
Zhouzhou and Momo nodded emphatically after being praised by everyone.
He said confidently, "Yes, I've taught quite a few."
"So what idioms did you learn?"
Zhouzhou and Momo exchanged a glance, their little brows furrowing slightly. After thinking seriously for a moment, Momo immediately said in a clear voice, "The teacher taught 'forced confession'."
"Wow, you actually taught me an idiom! You guys are so amazing to remember it. My darlings are wonderful."
Mu Shaohua praised him repeatedly from the side.
The two little girls, however, had their big, watery eyes wide open.
Looking at Zhang Ruoshui with an innocent expression, she asked, "Grandma, what does this idiom mean?"
Zhang Ruoshui smiled, but she was a little troubled: how should she explain this to her two beloved granddaughters?
Her gaze swept over everyone before settling on Lu Qingzhou, who was smoking on the balcony, and an idea suddenly came to her.
She coughed lightly and said to the two little girls, "Watch how Grandma explains the meaning of this idiom to you."
As she spoke, Zhang Ruoshui stood up, took out a hundred yuan from her pocket, walked to Lu Qingzhou's side, and threw the money into his hand.
Lu Qingzhou looked at the hundred yuan in his hand with a puzzled expression, then smiled and teased, "Oh, Mom's preparing to give me pocket money, huh?"
However, before he could even finish speaking and feel happy,
Zhang Ruoshui suddenly grabbed Lu Qingzhou's ear, her face hardening as she demanded, "Did you take my hundred yuan?"
Lu Qingzhou looked completely bewildered and hurriedly explained, "Didn't you just give this to me?"
The people sitting on the sofa stared in disbelief; they had truly learned something new.
Mu Shaohua and Su Qingyao chuckled softly, while Leng Yue laughed heartily without any restraint. "Aunt Zhang's educational methods are indeed quite good."
Zhang Ruoshui lightly slapped him a few times, persisting, "I said you took it, so you took it."
Lu Qingzhou jumped up, but saw several people sitting next to the coffee table looking at him with smiles on their faces, completely confused about the situation.
"Tell me, did you take this or not!"
Seeing his mother about to deliver another slap, Lu Qingzhou finally admitted, with a look of utter despair, that he had taken the money, under his mother's stern gaze.
"Yes, yes, yes, I took this money from you."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Ruoshui immediately released Lu Qingzhou, took the hundred yuan from his hand, and put it in her pocket.
Smiling, she walked over to Zhouzhou and Momo and patiently said, "My little darlings, do you see? This is called 'forced confession'. Do you understand?"
The two little girls nodded vigorously.
Zhouzhou whispered to Momo, "Daddy's so pitiful."
Momo nodded in agreement, looking at her with sympathy: "Yes, so pitiful..."
Seeing Lu Qingzhou's bewildered expression, Leng Yue laughed so hard she almost cried.
Then, smiling at Zhouzhou and Momo, she said, "My darlings, did your teacher teach you any other idioms?"
The two little girls looked at her blankly and asked, "What other idioms did you teach us?"
Leng Yue smiled and said half-jokingly, "For example, 'born without...'"
Before she could finish speaking, Su Qingyao reached out and gently poked Leng Yue's forehead, saying irritably, "You... don't talk nonsense, you'll corrupt the child..."
Leng Yue pouted in dissatisfaction.
Lu Qingzhou then understood what was going on, and secretly rejoiced that Zhouzhou and Momo were still in kindergarten and didn't know much.
If someone asks what murder to cover up, destroying evidence, dismemberment, or a living hell means, then you're in big trouble.
But he still looked at Zhang Ruoshui with some dissatisfaction and muttered, "Mom, is this how you teach your granddaughter? You don't care about my feelings at all."
Zhang Ruoshui remained calm and said seriously, "You are my son, and I have already considered your feelings."
Lu Qingzhou was speechless for a moment. After a pause, she said impatiently, "Alright, didn't you have something to tell us? Hurry up and say it."
Looking at Lu Qingzhou's expression, as if she had suffered a great injustice, Zhang Ruoshui couldn't help but smile slightly, her eyes brimming with laughter.
That's the look that only a mother has when she sees her child throwing a tantrum.
But she also put away her joking mood, her expression turned serious, and she began to talk about serious matters.
"I called you all here today because there's something I want to be honest with you about."
As soon as she said that, everyone perked up and their eyes all turned to her.
Zhang Ruoshui's gaze slowly swept over them, her tone somewhat wistful: "As everyone knows, our Lu family was brought back to its original state after the turmoil five years ago."
