He secretly thought to himself, "What a coincidence that I ran into Old Man Chen here."
Lu Qingzhou unconsciously tightened her grip on the flower stem, and subconsciously turned her back.
For a moment, the air in the entire flower shop seemed to freeze.
Lu Qingzhou's eyes flickered uncertainly. He looked at the flowers in his hand for a moment, then at Old Man Chen. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't know how to start.
Old Chen's face froze. He opened his mouth, then stammered out, "You... what are you doing here?"
Lu Qingzhou swallowed hard, grinned, and said in a stiff tone, "I...I came to buy flowers, and you...you too, hahaha."
Old Chen coughed awkwardly twice, his eyes darting around, and said, "Yes, the ones in my office were wilting, so I just bought a few to replace them. Are you buying them as gifts?"
'Put it in the office? You're just making things up.'
Lu Qingzhou didn't believe it at all, but her face showed a look of sudden realization: "Oh, no, no, I'm buying it to take home and use as a vase."
Feeling guilty, he instinctively lied.
Old Chen felt a little annoyed as he watched Lu Qingzhou brag to him with such a serious expression. This kid wasn't being honest. He wondered if it was a good thing or a bad thing that his precious daughter had married him.
After the brief conversation ended, the two of them stood there awkwardly, attracting strange looks from the surrounding customers.
Lu Qingzhou felt extremely uncomfortable, as if her feet were nailed to the ground, unable to move despite wanting to walk.
Old Chen stood there awkwardly, and the two exchanged a glance and chuckled to each other.
At this moment, the florist arrived carrying two bouquets of flowers, one of roses and the other of carnations.
"Gentlemen, this is what you need to spend."
The florist seemed to sense the awkward atmosphere between the two and said with a smile, "Gentlemen, our flowers are all very nice. They're suitable for anyone."
Lu Qingzhou and Old Man Chen, however, paid no attention to what the boss was saying and remained standing there like wooden statues, creating an indescribably strange atmosphere.
"Sir, these are the roses you ordered. It's obvious you bought them as a gift for your girlfriend, haha."
Lu Qingzhou didn't accept the flowers, and said awkwardly, "No, I bought these to put in a vase at home."
Then, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace, she looked at Old Man Chen and said, "Uncle Chen, you choose first, I... I'll take another look." With that, she went inside the shop.
