The next day at noon,
Lu Qingzhou stepped into the clinic again, his expression cold and stern, clutching a thin tablet computer tightly in his hand.
Chen Xiaoxi and Old Man Chen immediately surrounded them, while Xu Yang stood a few steps away with a gloomy face, his eyes fixed on the tablet in Lu Qingzhou's hand.
He was naturally there too, and now was the perfect time for him to make his presence felt in front of Chen Xiaoxi and her father. He couldn't possibly let such an opportunity slip by.
Lu Qingzhou glanced at Xu Yang, then smiled coldly.
For some reason, Xu Yang felt a little flustered.
He took a deep breath and quickly calmed himself down.
She quietly looked at Lu Qingzhou, wondering what he was up to.
Lu Qingzhou shifted his gaze to Chen Xiaoxi and her father, and seeing their nervousness, he smiled slightly: "Uncle Chen, Xiaoxi, you don't need to be so nervous. The results are in, take a look."
Lu Qingzhou's voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet room.
He swiped his finger across the screen, opening a report document labeled with complex graphs and data.
"Qingyao used the most sophisticated instruments to repeatedly test and compare the samples, and the conclusion was clear: the internal components and molecular structure of the medicinal materials that were sampled and found to have problems were significantly different from the medicinal materials of the same batch number registered in the 'Taihe' formal procurement system."
Chen Xiaoxi gasped, "This...this means...?"
It means,
Lu Qingzhou's gaze was sharp as a knife, slowly sweeping over Xu Yang's face, which instantly stiffened.
"Someone switched the goods. After the genuine goods were put into storage, they were replaced with inferior counterfeit goods."
"Bang!"
Old Chen slammed his fist on the table and roared, "Damn it! Who did this?!"
Lu Qingzhou did not answer directly, but tapped the screen again with her fingertip.
This time,
What was opened was a processed surveillance video clip.
The footage shows the important medicinal herb warehouse in the backyard of the clinic, around 1 a.m. A figure dressed in a clinic staff uniform, wearing a hat and mask, sneaks up on the side door of the warehouse.
His movements were exceptionally skillful; he quickly pried open the door lock with some kind of tool (although the surveillance angle was tricky and failed to capture a clear picture of the door opening action, his posture as he approached the lock and the subsequent easy entry were enough to illustrate the point).
A moment later,
The man carried out a heavy sack and quickly disappeared into a blind spot of the surveillance camera.
"Mu Shaohua has reviewed all relevant surveillance footage, especially during non-working hours."
Lu Qingzhou's voice was icy, "This person is unusually familiar with the clinic's environment, the warehouse location, and even the methods used to avoid the main surveillance cameras."
He paused the video and zoomed in on a part of the figure.
Although his face was heavily obscured, a distinctive, crescent-shaped old scar was faintly visible on the inside of his wrist as he raised his hand to wipe away sweat, even in the blurry image.
Xu Yang watched the video and felt a jolt of fear, beginning to panic.
Fortunately, the person in the video was fully armed, which relieved me a little!
Chen Xiaoxi frowned. "This person is completely covered up, so you can't see their face at all."
Lu Qingzhou smiled faintly and glanced at Xu Yang, "If I remember correctly, Brother Xu Yang also has a scar like this on his hand."
The last time he fought with Xu Yang in Chen Xiaoxi's office, he accidentally caught a glimpse of this bastard's hand with a scar like this!
The air seemed to freeze.
All eyes, filled with shock, anger, and disbelief, were fixed on one person—Xu Yang!
Xu Yang's face drained of all color in an instant, turning ashen white, and his body, which had just relaxed, began to tremble uncontrollably.
He instinctively hid his right hand behind his back.
Xu Yang,
Chen Xiaoxi's gaze was filled with disbelief, and her voice, which had been strained to break out, trembled violently.
"You're showing your wrist?"
"No...it wasn't me! This surveillance footage is fake! Lu Qingzhou! You framed me!"
Xu Yang jumped up like a venomous snake whose tail had been stepped on. His eyes were bloodshot, and he hysterically pointed at Lu Qingzhou and roared. His voice was so sharp that it changed tone, and the veins on his forehead bulged.
He backed away step by step, his back hitting the cold medicine cabinet with a dull thud.
He never expected that Lu Qingzhou would discover this flaw.
"Forgery?"
Lu Qingzhou took a step forward, and the powerful pressure made Xu Yang's breath catch in his throat.
"Then how do you explain that this morning, when my men questioned Old Zhang, he finally admitted that you threatened him with the high-interest loan his son owed, causing him to have diarrhea that night and leave his post for half an hour?"
And how do you explain the discovery, in a hidden compartment of the filing cabinet under your bed in your office, of remnants of the same type of burlap sack used to store substandard medicinal herbs, along with secret transaction records for purchasing these counterfeit drugs?
With each word he spoke, Xu Yang's face grew paler.
The evidence is irrefutable!
Despair overwhelmed Xu Yang like a cold tide.
His last line of defense completely collapsed, and he slid down to the floor, leaning against the medicine cabinet.
He clutched his hair tightly with both hands, letting out a beast-like, painful, and desperate howl: "Why? Why did you have to find out! All I wanted was that prescription! I've waited three years! A full three years!"
He suddenly raised his head, his face contorted in a grimace, tears streaming down his face, and glared at Old Man Chen, who was also swaying precariously and ashen-faced.
"You old geezer! I've followed you for three years, working hard without complaint, why won't you give it to me? You'd rather it rot in your hands than give me a chance to live?!"
This naked roar, filled with greed and betrayal, was like a poisoned dagger, stabbing deep into Old Chen's heart.
