Chapter 12: Cherish Carefully

Jiang Cha Cha always pestered her and would ridicule her about past events whenever they met. This was even worse when Gu Tingchen was around, as if she was afraid that others didn't know her past.

She didn't care. She had experienced much more than these over the years. They were just insignificant words and she wouldn't take them to heart at all. She was just afraid that Sanbao would be taught bad habits or feel inferior if she kept hearing those words, which would hurt her emotionally.

"Baby, go to the door and wait for your mother. I will come to find you soon."

Sanbao nodded obediently and walked towards the door. Where Jiang Ranran couldn't see him, he quietly waved his little hand to Gu Tingchen reluctantly as a farewell.

She hasn’t spent enough time with the handsome uncle. It would be great if she could eat the bear biscuits that the handsome uncle bought for her every day.

Gu Tingchen has gentle eyes and brows. He has never had much patience with children, but every time he sees the well-behaved and quiet Sanbao, he likes her very much. He doesn't feel it's troublesome to take care of her, but feels very satisfied instead.

This made him think of the woman five years ago.

Where would she be now? I wondered if she had gotten pregnant back then and given birth to a child as adorable as Sanbao.

Seeing Sanbao go out, Jiang Ranran suddenly turned around and stared at Jiang Chacha with his dark eyes. His aura suddenly changed, completely different from when Sanbao was there. He exuded coldness all over his body, as if he wanted to eat her.

"Do you really think I don't know anything about what happened back then?"

She is not a fool. Ever since she discovered Song Chao's affair, someone with ulterior motives has been setting a trap for her. Jiang Cha Cha's sudden appearance, her inexplicable loss of innocence, the scandal being reported in the newspapers, and being kicked out of the house are not coincidences. Someone wants to ruin her reputation.

It was the first time Jiang Cha Cha saw her like this, and it was quite scary. When she heard her mention what happened that year, she thought she knew everything. Feeling guilty, she subconsciously took a step back.

"You keep calling me a bastard. My child may not have a father, but he has a mother like me. It's not your turn to bully him."

"No matter who the father of the child is, it has nothing to do with you. You don't need to bother guessing."

"The life you are so proud of now is just the most ordinary life I had in the first half of my life. You don't have to show off in front of me."

"I didn't argue with you because of... Mr. Jiang. Don't be ungrateful. If you push me, I'll do anything."

She said "take a step forward" and Jiang Cha Cha took a step back.

Until he bumped into an antique vase as tall as a person and had nowhere to retreat. He looked at Gu Tingchen with panicked eyes, wanting to ask him for help.

Before he could finish his words, his chin was twisted back by two fingers.

Jiang Ranran pinched her chin and whispered into her ear: "You have worked so hard to gain wealth, so cherish it carefully." He was hinting at something.

"If I hear you say something you shouldn't say in front of my child again, I will never let you go."

If she doesn't have a good life, she won't let Jiang Cha Cha have an easy life either.

Seeing Jiang Cha Cha's frightened eyes, it seemed that she was quite frightened, so he gave up.

When she was in the countryside, she often saw women quarreling over trivial matters. She learned some of their ways from them, which was enough to deal with Jiang Cha Cha.

Thinking of those domineering country women, when it comes to quarreling, each one is as good as the other, and they are all masters.

At the beginning, Jiang Ranran was often made to cry by their vulgar and dirty words, but over time, her mental strength became stronger.

Compared to their pointing fingers, Jiang Cha Cha's dirty talk was just kindergarten level.

Gu Tingchen watched the play from beginning to end and enjoyed it very much.

This Jiang Ranran is really not a simple person.

After meeting her a few times, I have some understanding of her. She is not like the woman Jiang Cha Cha described, who was reported in the newspaper for committing adultery with an adulterer, brought disgrace to the family, was kicked out of the house, and was considered immoral. Instead, she is generous, capable, and does things in a disciplined manner.

Gu Tingchen began to become interested in Jiang Ranran.

Jiang Ranran left Gu Tingchen's office and found Sanbao, who was bored at the door, and took her with her to go home after get off work.

As soon as he walked out of the company, Sanbao became unhappy.

"Mom, I'm hungry." After waking up, she only ate bear biscuits, and now her stomach started to growl.

"Little greedy cat."

Jiang Ranran bent down and picked up Sanbao. Although the family was not rich, Jiang Ranran never treated the children badly when it came to food.

Hearing Sanbao shouting that he was hungry, Jiang Ranran inevitably quickened her pace and accidentally bumped into someone walking towards her.

"Why don't you watch where you're walking, you...Ranran?"

The man was originally very angry, but when he saw Jiang Ranran's face, his temper instantly disappeared and he spoke uncertainly.

Jiang Ranran was about to apologize when she heard the man calling out her name and looked at him in confusion.

"You don't remember me? That's so sad. I recognized you instantly."

Jiang Ranran was confused by what the man said and thought he was a liar, so she picked up the child and was about to leave.

The man hurriedly stopped her, put his hands on his head, and made rabbit ears. "I'm Lu Yuan, do you remember?"

A grown man making rabbit ears in the street was really funny and made Sanbao giggle.

Jiang Ranran remembered who he was. When she was little, she always played the game of "Little Bunny" with the older brother next door.

When she grew up, whenever she was unhappy, her older brother would cheer her up even better than the rabbit.

After being kicked out by the Jiang family, they lost contact.

The memories from the past overlapped with the present, "Brother Lu Yuan? I remember now."

"So you haven't forgotten me. This is your child? Let me hug him." Sanbao obediently let Lu Yuan hold him and kept smiling at him.

"Baby, call me uncle." Lu Yuan reached out and pinched Sanbao's cute and smooth little face.

Sanbao blinked his eyes and called out obediently, "Hello, uncle."

My stomach suddenly growled.

"Are you hungry?"

Lu Yuan carried Sanbao and left, "Come on, uncle will take you to a feast."

Jiang Ranran was left alone and disheveled in the wind. Should she leave or not?

Lu Yuan didn't expect to see Jiang Ranran again and was very excited.

Seeing her miserable appearance with her child, he couldn't help but ask where she had been during all these years and why she left without saying goodbye.

Jiang Ranran thought about what happened to her, which was more exciting than the plot of a TV drama. She didn't know how to tell him.

She simply explained that she was not actually the daughter of the Jiang family. After leaving the Jiang family, she took her children to live in the countryside for a few years and only recently moved back to the city.

Seeing that she didn't want to say more, Lu Yuan didn't ask any more questions. Instead, he held Sanbao and took her to his car, and drove them to the place where Lu Yuan said they would have a big meal.
