Chapter 60

After Chen Feng left, Mu Nanhe and Yang Qingyan took a walk in the yard.

Mu Nanhe stopped, looked at Yang Qingyan and said, "Qingyan, I can leave now. I won't go back to the army for the time being. Let's go to An County to investigate what happened back then. It's time to settle the accounts of so many years."

Yang Qingyan responded without hesitation: "Okay, I'll call my parents and see if they have time to go."

So Yang Qingyan immediately called Xia's parents and briefly explained the situation. On the other end of the phone, Xia's parents were very supportive and said they would go together. "We will take the train from Beijing and meet at Anxian Railway Station." Xia's father said.

After hanging up the phone, Yang Qingyan excitedly told Mu Nanhe: "My parents said they would go with us. They are coming from Beijing by train. Let's buy train tickets too."

The next morning, Mu Nanhe and Yang Qingyan arrived at the train station with their luggage. The waiting room was crowded with people, and the two sat in the waiting area, quietly waiting for the train.

"Nanhe, do you think we can successfully find out the truth of that year when we go to An County this time?" Yang Qingyan asked softly.

Mu Nanhe held Yang Qingyan's hand and said firmly: "It will definitely work. So many years have passed, it's time for the truth to come out."

After the train arrived at the station, the two boarded the train with the crowd. In the carriage, they found seats and sat down, watching the scenery gradually receding from the window.

At the same time, at the Beijing Railway Station, Xia's father and mother also arrived at the waiting hall early. Xia's mother pulled the suitcase, while Xia's father checked the train information on the side.

"I hope we can get those things clear when we go to An County this time," said Xia's mother.

"Let it go. With the children here, there will be no problem." Father Xia responded.

After boarding the train, Xia's father and mother found seats and sat down. Along the way, Xia's mother looked out the window, her thoughts drifting back to the past. "I don't know if those people back then are still safe now."

"We'll find clues eventually." Father Xia comforted.

After several hours of driving, the train that Mu Nanhe and Yang Qingyan were on arrived at Anxian Railway Station first. They stood outside the station and waited for Xia's father and mother.

Soon, Mr. and Mrs. Xia's train also arrived at the station. When the two families met, they both smiled.

"Mom and Dad, thank you for your hard work along the way." Yang Qingyan went forward and hugged Xia's mother.

"It's not hard. It's worth it to be able to solve the mystery of that year with you guys." Mother Xia responded with a smile.

After meeting at Anxian Railway Station, they went to a guesthouse near the hospital. After arranging accommodation and taking a short rest, they rushed to Anxian People's Hospital to investigate what happened that year.

The hospital was crowded with people and filled with the smell of disinfectant. Mu Nanhe, Yang Qingyan, Xia's father and mother came to the file room and told the staff why they were there, hoping to check the records of Xia's mother's birth.

The middle-aged female staff member looked embarrassed and frowned as she said, "These files are very old. It will take some time to search them. Some of the information may not be complete."

Mu Nanhe said sincerely: "Bai Zhi, I'm sorry to bother you. This is extremely important to us. Please do your best to help find it."

The staff nodded and turned to search through the pile of file cabinets. After nearly an hour, they finally found the maternity records from that year.

However, when they further inquired about the nurse who took care of Xia's mother, they learned that the nurse had resigned long ago and there was no way to contact her. This news made everyone disappointed.

"Is this clue gone?" Yang Qingyan said anxiously.

Father Xia hurriedly comforted him: "Don't be discouraged, take a closer look at the data, maybe there will be other discoveries."

At this moment, Mu Nanhe's eyes were fixed on a line of records in the file: "Wait, it says here that Zhu Li and her mother were in the same ward and gave birth together."

This discovery instantly cheered everyone up. Xia's mother recalled: "I do remember that there were only two of us in the ward at that time. But later on, there were so many things that I didn't think about her much."

Yang Qingyan thought for a moment and said, "Since they were in the same ward, something special might have happened there that year, which might be related to what we want to investigate."

Therefore, everyone decided to follow the clue of Zhu's mother and return to Mucun of the Victory Team to inquire about the situation.

The next morning, the sun shone through the windows of the guesthouse, shining on the faces of Mu Nanhe, Yang Qingyan, and Xia's father and mother. After a simple breakfast, they took the carefully prepared gifts and set off for Mu Village.

Along the way, the scenery outside the car window kept changing, fields, mountains, and villages flashed by one by one. Mu Nanhe's eyes were always looking out the window, and his thoughts had already drifted back to his childhood. Those hard days and the warmth given by his second uncle and second aunt were playing in his mind like a movie.

After a long drive, they finally arrived at Mu Village. The village still retained its simplicity and tranquility, but compared to what they remembered, it had more traces of time.

Mu Nanhe did not lead everyone to Zhu Li's house, but went straight to his second uncle's house. Along the way, his pace unconsciously quickened, his eyes full of expectation.

When they arrived at his second uncle's house, Mu Nanhe took a deep breath, raised his hand and knocked on the door.

With a creaky sound, the door opened and a white-haired old man appeared in front of him. It was Mu Nanhe's second uncle.

"Second Uncle!" Mu Nanhe shouted excitedly.

The second uncle was stunned for a moment, then his eyes became moist, and he grabbed Mu Nanhe's hand: "Nanhe, it's really you! You're finally back!"

Everyone walked into the house, and Yang Qingyan and Xia's father and mother put the gifts aside. The second uncle looked at the gifts and said quickly, "You're here, why bring anything? It's too expensive."
