"Ah, what's going on?"
The aunts instantly became interested again and gathered together to discuss.
Ning Xi and Qin Yan looked at each other, and Ning Xi said, "Um, Aunt Wu, let's go upstairs first."
"Ah? Oh, okay, okay, you guys go." Aunt Wu came back to her senses and waved her hand quickly.
After they left, I hurriedly started chatting with my old neighbors.
Ning Xi and Qin Yan went upstairs together and arrived at Ning Lan's door. They vaguely heard voices talking inside.
The two looked at each other again, and Ning Xi took out the key, but when she used it, she found that the lock had been changed.
She was slightly stunned, and her happy mood immediately sank back to normal.
Then he knocked on the door.
Perhaps because they had disturbed the conversation inside, the room suddenly became quiet. After a few seconds, Ning Lan's voice could be heard, "Who?"
"Aunt, it's Qin Yan and me." Ning Xi said.
It was quiet inside again, and then footsteps were heard approaching the door.
The door lock clicked.
Ning Lan opened the door.
After not seeing her for a few days, she seemed to have aged several years. Her eye sockets were sunken on her thin face, and there were deep crow's feet and nasolabial folds at the corners of her eyes and on both sides of her nose. The black hair on her head had turned one-third whiter.
Ning Xi was stunned and sad when she saw it.
Ning Lan was standing in the room. Seeing them coming, she showed no joy at all. She even frowned and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Ning Xi came back to her senses. She was not surprised by her reaction, but she did feel a little disappointed.
"Aunt, I came to see you."
"No need, I'm fine." Ning Lan just glanced at her and then looked away from her.
Ever since her daughter told her that Ning Xi married a super rich man, she became even more resentful towards her niece.
