Chapter 104 Preparing to Go to the Hospital

"Is that Jingchen?" Mother An asked worriedly as she watched her daughter go to open the door but not return for a long time.

"Mom, it's not Jingchen, it's takeout. Jingchen ordered some dishes, we'll eat together tonight," An Yiruo said, carrying two large bags full of takeout towards the restaurant.

"This child, wasting money again. Takeout is so expensive, and it's not healthy either. Mom will just cook whatever you want to eat," Mother scolded because she had experienced poverty. Although Mo Jingchen was not short of money, she didn't want to waste it.

"Mom, it's okay to have this once in a while. Besides, Jingchen is worried about how hard you work cooking and about your health," An Yiruo said, putting all the dishes into plates and arranging them neatly.

"Why hasn't Jingchen arrived yet!" Mother An didn't intend to argue with her, so she changed the subject.

"I'll give him a call and ask."

An Yiruo walked to the side and dialed Mo Jingchen's number: "Hey, where are you? Why aren't you here yet?"

"We're downstairs."

"Okay, come on up. Your takeout just arrived."

"Okay, I've arrived. Open the door."

"So fast!" An Yiruo hung up the phone and ran to open the door.

Mo Jingchen changed into slippers and walked into the house with An Yiruo in his arms: "Mom," Mo Jingchen greeted An's mother.

"Jingchen's here, come sit down and eat. You must be tired after a long day at work," Mother An said, inviting the two of them to the dining room.

"Mom, please try the food here and see if it suits your taste," Mo Jingchen said to his mother after sitting down.

"Judging from its appearance, I know this dish must taste amazing," Mother An said with a smile.

After saying that, he picked up another bite of food and put it in his mouth. Just as he had imagined, the taste was indeed good.

Seeing that An's mother was pleased, Mo Jingchen felt relieved and then served An Yiruo some more food.

Looking at her daughter and son-in-law, An's mother felt the greatest joy for any parent to have such filial children. She smiled and said to Mo Jingchen, "What do you want to eat next time? Mom will cook it for you. Don't order takeout, it's too expensive!"

“It’s not expensive. As long as Mom likes it, that’s fine,” Mo Jingchen said again.

The three of them enjoyed their dinner together in a pleasant and harmonious atmosphere. After dinner, An Yiruo planned to go to the kitchen to wash the fruit, but Mo Jingchen stopped her, saying, "I'll wash it. You go sit on the sofa with Mom for a while."

“I can wash it,” An Yiruo said, not leaving immediately, her hand still holding the bag of fruit.

“I’ll do it. Your wound hasn’t healed yet, so you can’t lift heavy things.” Mo Jingchen naturally took the bag from An Yiruo’s hand and carried it to the kitchen.

With nothing weighing her in her hands, An Yiruo could only turn around and walk towards the living room: "Mom, was the food good tonight?"

After speaking, An Yiruo sat down next to her mother, leaning against her like she did when she was a child.

"It's delicious. An'an, is there anything you want to say to Mom?" An'an's mother knew her daughter well. In the past, whenever An Yi Ruo wanted to say something to her, she would first say something casually to attract her attention.

"There's something I need to tell Mom. It would be great if we could go to the hospital for a check-up. Shouldn't we start planning on that?"

“Okay, An’an, you can make the arrangements,” An’an’s mother said. She knew that An Yi Ruo’s lifelong wish was to cure her illness. If she refused now, she would hurt her daughter’s feelings.

"Then let's meet the day after tomorrow. I'll pick you up early the day after tomorrow!" An Yiruo was worried that her mother would change her mind, so she set the date for the day after tomorrow. Why not tomorrow? It was because An Yiruo was worried that Mo Jingchen would need to make an appointment with the doctor, and that the doctor might not be available tomorrow!

"Okay, the day after tomorrow!"

Hearing that her mother was willing to go for the checkup, she felt a small sense of relief! At this moment, Mo Jingchen came out of the kitchen carrying fruit.

"Mom, An'an, have some fruit." Mo Jingchen placed the fruit plate on the coffee table in the living room and found a seat for himself.

“Jingchen, you can’t keep spoiling her like this, or she’ll develop a bad temper!” Mother An said to Mo Jingchen with a smile.

"mom!"

“It’s alright. If I spoil her, she’ll become even more dependent on me.” Mo Jingchen looked at An Yiruo with a meaningful smile.

The time spent together always seemed too short. The three of them sat around eating fruit, chatting, and watching TV, and it was already quite late. "An'an, Jingchen, it's getting late. You two should head home early. Drive carefully."

"See you the day after tomorrow, Mom," An Yiruo said reluctantly to her mother.

"Hurry up and call me when you get home," Mother said, standing at the door to see them off, while also worrying about their safety on the way home.

"Mom, don't worry. Go back quickly, it's getting cold," Mo Jingchen said, then took An Yiruo's hand and entered the elevator.

"I've talked to my mom, and she agreed to go to the hospital with me for a check-up the day after tomorrow," An Yiruo said, holding hands with Mo Jingchen in the elevator, talking about her mother.

"Okay, I'll go with you the day after tomorrow."

"Won't this interfere with your work?" An Yiruo raised her head and looked at Mo Jingchen at a 45-degree angle.

"The company won't go bankrupt even if I'm gone for a day. Mrs. Mo, there's no need to worry too much."

"I'm not worried, I... I just..." An Yiruo thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a reasonable reason, so she just let it be.

Mo Jingchen smiled and said nothing, but his eyes were full of doting affection for An Yiruo.

The day after tomorrow, early in the morning, An Yiruo and Mo Jingchen got up early. An Yiruo asked her boss for leave, and Mo Jingchen, as the president, naturally did not need to clock in or sit in the office.

After breakfast, the two set off for An's mother's residence. An Yiruo hadn't slept a wink last night due to nervousness, so much so that this morning, she had large dark circles under her eyes and had to use concealer to cover them up.

"An'an, don't be nervous. Don't worry, I'm here for you." Mo Jingchen held An Yiruo's hand, giving her strength and warmth.

"Mmm," An Yiruo nodded, but her nervousness was still palpable. She didn't know why, but even though she was taking her mother to the hospital, she felt more nervous than if she were going to the hospital herself!

"Mom, we're here!" An Yiruo shouted into the house as she unlocked the door.

At this moment, An's mother had finished packing and was waiting for An Yiruo and her companion.

"Mom, are you all packed? If you're all packed, we'll head out right away," An Yiruo asked her mother.

"It's all packed, let's go," said Mother An.

"Mom, don't be nervous, it's okay, I'm here," An Yiruo kept reassuring her mother on the way.

"I think you're the one who's nervous," Mother An said with a smile, looking at her daughter helplessly.

"Mom! I'm just worried about your health! Why are you making fun of me!"

“Okay, okay, it’s Mom’s fault. But An’an, a person’s fate is predetermined. All we can do is try our best and leave the rest to fate. If the tests still don’t cure my illness, I will accept it calmly. It’s nothing,” An’an’s mother comforted her daughter, telling her to relax.
