Chapter 17 only mentions widowhood, not divorce.

Why does Miss An think that way?

Mo Jingchen couldn't understand where An Yiruo's nameless anger came from; it was all rather inexplicable.

"Isn't that right? Mr. Mo has already met my mother and won her favor, but I am still a nobody in Mr. Mo's family. They don't even know I exist."

An Yiruo then continued, her tone somewhat desolate, "The one who said he wanted to get married was Mr. Mo, and the one who wants to get a divorce now... is also Mr. Mo, right?"

For some reason, Mo Jingchen felt a pang of pain in his heart when he heard An Yiruo say that, but more than that, he felt heartache.

Seeing An Yiruo sitting so thin and weak in the passenger seat, her small body uttering such pitiful words, I couldn't bear to see her suffer such injustice.

In the past thirty years, Mo Jingchen had never felt this way, and he didn't know what kind of feeling it was.

“Miss An, you’re really wronging me. Miss An probably doesn’t understand the Mo family’s rules. In the Mo family, there is only widowhood, not divorce.”

An Yiruo looked at Mo Jingchen in surprise, not expecting him to say such a thing.

"The Mohist family rules?"

"Yes, this is the Mo family motto, and it has always been so since ancient times. Mo family men are all devoted to one another."

Sitting in the passenger seat, An Yiruo listened to Mo Jingchen's words with mixed feelings. She didn't say anything and turned her head to look out the window.

Mo Jingchen didn't continue the previous topic and started the car to leave.

After starting the car, An Yiru rolled down the window. The wind blew against her face, making her hair a little messy, just like her mood at that moment.

An Yiruo's gaze was not focused on any particular point at this moment, but rather she was staring blankly at the scenery outside.

The thoughts in An Yiruo's mind are what she should be clearing up right now.

Mo Jingchen said that the Mo family motto is that there is no divorce, only widowhood, but he had previously said that he would divorce if they were incompatible...

What was his mindset when he married me back then?

She couldn't understand why a big shot like Mo Jingchen would casually marry a woman he had a one-night stand with, even though he had explained to her that he... couldn't get close to other women, and that she was the only exception.

But... isn't this a bit too dramatic?

An Yiruo's thoughts were still wandering in the sky when she heard Mo Jingchen's voice beside her: "Miss An, we've arrived. What are you daydreaming about?"

"It's nothing," An Yiruo said, just as she was about to open the door and get out of the car, she realized that Mo Jingchen had parked in a place that wasn't downstairs from her mother's house.

"Mr. Mo, what is this?" An Yiruo asked with some confusion.

“Miss An was just complaining to me about not having met my parents and feeling that she was at a disadvantage. I think what Miss An said makes sense. There’s no time like the present, let’s do it today.”

"Huh? But I didn't prepare anything." An Yiruo was a little confused. Was she really going to meet the parents?

"You don't need to prepare anything. To them, your presence is the best gift."

After Mo Jingchen finished speaking, he took An Yiruo's hand and entered a styling shop.

"Mr. Mo." The shop assistant recognized Mo Jingchen and immediately went up to greet him when he came in.

Where is your boss?

"The boss is inside, Mr. Mo, please wait a moment while I go and inform him."

"Miss An, the owner of this styling shop is my childhood friend, and his skills are quite good."

As Mo Jingchen was introducing An Yiruo, a person came down the stairs from inside. The person was dressed fashionably, creating a stark contrast with Mo Jingchen's attire.

"Mo, you haven't come over in so long. Have you forgotten about me?"

"Ahem, be serious." After saying that, Mo Jingchen introduced An Yiruo: "This is my childhood friend, Lu Ze, who is also the second young master of the Lu Group."

"Hello, Mr. Lu," An Yiruo greeted him politely.

"Hey, Mo. Where did you find such a well-behaved little white rabbit? So cute." After saying that, Lu Ze pretended to cover his mouth and said to Mo Jingchen, "Mo, are you cured? Now you can have women close to you. This girl looks like she just graduated from college. You didn't trick her, did you?"

Lu Ze spoke quite loudly, and since he was right next to Mo Jingchen, he heard him clearly.

It was a little awkward; I wondered how Mo Jingchen would introduce himself.

"Lu Ze, are you itching for a beating?"

"Mo Jingchen, is this all you know how to do? You're bullying me because I can't beat you. I've been unilaterally suppressed by you since I was a child," Lu Ze said, pursing his lips.

"Not convinced? Let's have a go and see if your skills have improved." With that, Mo Jingchen reached out and unbuttoned his suit jacket.

"No, no, no, stop. Even if I, Lu Ze, train for another ten years, I'm still no match for you, Mo Jingchen. Besides, we can't leave this pretty girl standing here alone. At least introduce her to me."

Lu Ze hurriedly tried to change the subject, afraid that Mo Jingchen might pull him onto the dueling platform if he got upset.

Mo Jingchen hadn't originally planned to compete with him today, and he was quite satisfied with the deterrent effect he had achieved.

"Her name is An Yiruo, and she is your sister-in-law."

"Sister-in-law, sister-in-law... Oh my god, Mo Jingchen, when did you get married? Do Li Ye and Young Master Si know about this?"

“Li Ye knows. Young Master Si… I suspect he knows too.”

"Mo Jingchen, am I the first person to have met your wife?" Lu Ze asked excitedly.

Mo Jingchen nodded in response.

"Mo Jingchen, you're something else. At your age, you still managed to marry such a young and beautiful sister-in-law. Seriously, tsk tsk tsk, an old cow eating young grass."

"Lu Ze!" Mo Jingchen's tone was clearly unpleasant.

"Okay, okay, I'll shut up. But Mo Jingchen, you didn't just come here to show off that you have a wife, did you?" Lu Ze raised an eyebrow at Mo Jingchen and said.

"Of course not, I'm not that bored. I'm going to give her a makeover and then take her back to the old house."

"Tsk tsk tsk, Mo Jingchen. I have to say something about you. You've already taken advantage of her and you still haven't met her parents. What a scumbag!" Lu Ze said, shaking his head.

"Sister-in-law, do you think what I said is right?" Lu Ze then turned his gaze to An Yiruo.
