"Will you tell me a story?"
"good."
An Yiruo found a comfortable spot in Mo Jingchen's arms and listened to the story he was telling.
As she listened, An Yiruo felt sleepy and fell asleep after yawning.
Listening to the even breathing of the person in his arms, Mo Jingchen carefully pulled his arm out, covered her with the blanket, and went back to his study to continue his work.
"Sorry everyone. My wife is a bit clingy. I need to coax her."
Mo Jingchen's words didn't sound like he was embarrassed at all; on the contrary, they made him seem like he was showing off.
"It's alright, it's alright. Mr. Mo and his wife have such a good relationship," one of the executives said with a smile.
"Hmm, the relationship is good. Where were we?"
The meeting lasted until the early hours of the morning. When Mo Jingchen returned to his bedroom, he saw An Yiru sleeping soundly like a little pig.
After placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, he contentedly held his beloved wife as they fell asleep.
March arrived in the blink of an eye, and it was time for An Yiruo's prenatal checkup.
Early in the morning, accompanied by Mo Jingchen, we arrived at the familiar VIP ward.
"Mr. Mo, I'm here to draw blood for Madam." The nurse carefully walked towards An Yiruo with a bunch of blood collection containers.
After collecting several bottles of blood, Mo Jingchen frowned: "Do we need to collect this much blood?"
"Yes, there are many preliminary tests, so we need to collect a relatively large number of blood samples," the nurse explained.
"It's okay," An Yiruo said, turning around and patting Mo Jingchen's arm that was draped over her shoulder.
Although Mo Jingchen was displeased, he understood that these checks were mandatory and didn't say anything more.
Watching the nurse take the blood sample away, Mo Jingchen produced a piece of bread from somewhere: "Eat some first? You've lost so much blood and haven't had breakfast, you'll feel terrible later."
"When did you buy this? What else is in your pocket? Let me see?" An Yiru asked curiously, and went to look through the backpack that Mo Jingchen was carrying.
"Wow, honey, is that backpack of yours a treasure chest?!"
After looking through it, An Yiruo found bread, fruit, milk, a thermos, and some snacks inside.
"I was worried you'd be hungry, and I was also worried you wouldn't like what I prepared. That's why I prepared a few extra dishes," Mo Jingchen said somewhat apologetically as he took the backpack from An Yiruo.
"So thoughtful. So considerate."
“I saw online that this is the standard for a good dad.”
"You still watch these things? I never would have guessed."
"Of course, I also read the guidelines and principles for being a good father," Mo Jingchen said with pride.
“The doctor said that the pregnant woman’s mood is the most important thing! When I’m happy, my body and mind are naturally happy. When my body and mind are happy, the baby will naturally be healthy! Don’t you agree?” An Yiruo raised her head slightly and looked at Mo Jingchen with a smile.
"The words may be rough, but the principle is sound, and there's nothing wrong with what you're saying. However, you should still take a look at the dietary guidelines and related precautions, and learn more about them to avoid making any mistakes that you might regret later."
"Okay, so what did you learn?"
"You should take folic acid during the first three months of pregnancy, maintain a balanced diet, and avoid picky eating. You also need to pay attention to your diet, as pregnant women cannot take medications arbitrarily. Have regular prenatal checkups and engage in moderate exercise."
"It seems I've really learned a lot!" Mo Jingchen said, though it was just a casual question.
"I've signed you up for prenatal yoga. Classes will officially begin after the wedding!"
"Can I refuse?" Since becoming pregnant, An Yiruo has become lazy, preferring to lie down rather than sit, and sitting rather than standing.
"No, proper exercise is necessary to minimize suffering during childbirth! You can't just do whatever you want!"
"The wedding is over, and it's too hot outside. I don't want to go to class," An Yiruo said, making excuses for herself in hopes of changing Mo Jingchen's mind and preventing her from going to class.
“I knew you would say that, so I hired a teacher to come to my home and give lessons.”
"Mo Jingchen, you're so boring!"
Knowing that her yoga class was a done deal and she couldn't avoid it, An Yiruo felt a little tired.
"Your husband is boring too!"
The two were arguing, and the doctor and nurses nearby couldn't help but lower their heads and cover their mouths to laugh, trying their best not to make a sound.
"See? People are laughing at you," An Yiruo said sarcastically, glancing at Mo Jingchen.
"I'm making fun of you too! We're in the same boat, we're even."
"Madam, there's another check-up today. An ultrasound."
"good."
An Yiruo lay in bed, looking at the screen in front of her.
The tiny figure on the screen was clearly visible, quietly nestled inside her belly.
Listening to her strong heartbeat, An Yiruo finally understood what it felt like to nurture a life. One body, two heartbeats.
“Honey, listen to the baby’s heartbeat, isn’t it amazing?” An Yiruo turned her head to look at Mo Jingchen beside her.
He was still wearing his gold-rimmed glasses, his eyes fixed on the screen, as if he too was marveling at the miracle of new life.
"It's amazing, our baby is so beautiful," Mo Jingchen said proudly, his eyes glued to the screen.
"He's so young, how can you tell he's good-looking?" An Yiruo looked at the man who was about to become a father with disdain.
"Of course, neither of us is bad-looking. If he isn't good-looking, then it must be a genetic mutation!"
"Don't speak too soon, what if you're proven wrong!"
"Being slapped in the face...that's impossible. I know my own strength."
The doctor performing the ultrasound on An Yiruo looked at the two adults in front of her, their childish behavior, and found it amusing.
"Mr. Mo, Madam, the baby is healthy and there are no problems," the doctor who performed the ultrasound concluded after the examination.
At the same time, the results of the blood sample came back.
"Mr. Mo, your wife is slightly anemic, but otherwise she is normal."
"Anemia? Do you need medication?" Mo Jingchen asked the doctor with a tense expression and a slight frown.
"At present, it is not necessary. Go home and eat more red meat and iron-rich foods. Come back to the hospital for a check-up after a while."
"Your wife's blood count is near the borderline, indicating mild anemia, which can be temporarily addressed with dietary supplements. However, if dietary supplements are ineffective, oral iron supplements will be necessary to improve the condition," the doctor explained to Mo Jingchen, outlining the methods and precautions for iron supplementation.
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
"Mr. Mo, you're too kind. Also, it's important that your wife continues to take folic acid and supplement with calcium every day. This will help prevent sleep problems, leg cramps, or joint pain caused by calcium deficiency in the later stages of pregnancy."
