Chapter 69 Moving

Mother An closed the menu and looked at Mo Jingchen.

“Okay, then I’ll take charge of ordering.” Mo Jingchen called over the waiter and ordered several of the restaurant’s signature dishes, as well as a few newly introduced dishes.

"Okay, everyone, please wait a moment," the waiter said before leaving the private room.

After dinner, they returned to where An's mother lived. An Yiruo helped pack the things she didn't usually use into boxes. She categorized the items, and the packing work was naturally left to Mo Jingchen.

"An'an, Jingchen, take a break and have some water. There's no rush," An'an's mother said, placing fruit and water on the table and gesturing for them to come and rest.

“Mom, the sooner I finish packing, the sooner you can move in. That way we can live closer together!” An Yiruo said, sitting down and eating a piece of watermelon.

"Good child, Mom was worried you were working too hard," An's mother said, handing An Yiru a tissue to wipe the watermelon juice from the corner of her mouth.

"It's not hard. Compared to what my mother suffered before, this is already very easy," An Yiruo said, shaking her head as she ate watermelon.

After finishing the watermelon, An Yiruo wanted to continue working, but her mother refused.

"Alright, listen to me, let's stop here for today and continue another day. After all, moving isn't something that can be done in a day. You all have to go to work tomorrow, so go home and get some rest!"

"Mom~"

"Okay, listen to me, go back now. Be careful on your way back, and call me when you get home."

An Yiruo and Mo Jingchen were thus "forced to leave the house".

The two people looked at each other as they left their apartment building, smiled helplessly, and took a car back to Xinghai Bay.

"Chen, I was thinking that if I tidied up more today, my mom would have an easier time. But she kicked me out and wouldn't let me tidy up," An Yiruo said, sitting in the passenger seat and looking out the window.

"An'an, Mom is just worried that you're working too hard. I'm concerned that you'll get tired from work."

“But I want to help her share the burden. She has always sheltered me from the wind and rain since I was a child, and now I want to do something for her too.” An Yiruo turned to look at Mo Jingchen as she spoke.

With the car window open, the wind tousled An Yiruo's long, flowing hair. The streetlights shone through the glass onto An Yiruo's face. Mo Jingchen, who was waiting at the traffic light, looked at An Yiruo and felt a sense of poignant beauty.

"Mom understands. Tomorrow I'll have Uncle Wang go over and find a few people to pack all the luggage. We'll move over first thing the day after tomorrow," Mo Jingchen said softly, gently smoothing An Yiruo's hair behind her ear.

"Thank you, Chen."

“We’re husband and wife, no need to be so polite. It’s still early, let’s go over there and see if there’s anything we need, and we can get it all.”

Okay. I'll do as you say.

Seeing the countdown red light ahead, and the moment the traffic light changed, Mo Jingchen stepped on the gas and drove towards the new home where his mother was about to move.

Upon arriving at Xin'an Garden Community (the name of the community where An's mother was about to move), An Yiruo felt very satisfied with the impressive entrance and the warm-sounding name of the community.

Once downstairs, Mo Jingchen and his assistant Zhou obtained the house's unlock code and then took An Yiruo upstairs in the elevator.

The building is on the 22nd floor, and there are three households on each floor. Mo Jingchen's house is at the end of the right corridor.

After entering the password and stepping into the room, An Yiruo found it surprisingly clean and tidy, contrary to her expectations of a dusty room.

“This…”, An Yiruo pointed to the living room and then looked at Mo Jingchen.

"This place is cleaned regularly, so it looks fairly clean and tidy. An'an, take a look and see what we need, we'll go buy it in a bit."

An Yiruo looked through all the rooms—the bedroom, the kitchen, and the bathroom. After she finished, she sat down at the table and made a list of everything she needed: "That's about it."

“Then let’s go out and buy it.” Mo Jingchen took the list that An Yiruo had made, glanced at it, put it in his pocket, and pulled An Yiruo’s hand to leave.

"There should be a supermarket nearby, let's go check it out."

Instead of driving, the two chose to walk around looking for a supermarket. They walked hand in hand under the moonlight, looking like a young couple deeply in love.

"Chen, the supermarket is up ahead!"

An Yiruo bought some kitchenware, pots and pans, rice, flour and cooking oil, as well as some household items. When the two of them came out of the supermarket again, it was really difficult for them to carry all these things back with just the two of them.

"I'll go ask if I can borrow a shopping cart from the supermarket," An Yiruo said before walking back into the supermarket.

After repeatedly assuring the shop assistant that the cart would be returned, they finally agreed to let An Yiruo take it.

With the trolley, things became much more convenient. After going upstairs, An Yiru tidied up her belongings while Mo Jingchen went to return the trolley.

The two of them found a renewed warmth and everyday life in their interactions. In the past, Mo Jingchen wouldn't have needed to worry about such trivial matters; a single phone call from Uncle Wang would have taken care of everything.

Looking at the supermarket shopping cart he was pushing, Mo Jingchen felt as if he had returned to his time studying abroad. Well, it was good to experience life again.

When the two returned to Xinghai Bay, it was already very late. Exhausted, they washed up and fell asleep immediately, sleeping soundly through the night!

These past few days, after getting off work, An Yiruo went back to her mother's place to help with the move and then tidy up the house. Her petite figure could be seen everywhere.

On the weekend, An Yiruo went there very early. However, Mo Jingchen didn't come with her today because he had a very important meeting that he couldn't cancel or leave.

"Mom, not bad, right?" An Yiruo showed her mother the results of her work, hoping to get praise.

“An’an has grown up and is now quite capable of doing housework.”

"Hehe. Let's go downstairs for a walk in a bit and get familiar with the surroundings. The facilities here are great and can meet all our daily needs," An Yiruo said to her mother.

"Okay, after we're done shopping, we'll have lunch outside."

"Okay, what would Mom like to eat?"

“Today, An’an is in charge. An’an can eat whatever she wants without worrying about me. Today, Mom will listen to you.” An’an’s mother knew that when they usually ate out, An Yi Ruo would always consider her and choose the food she liked. Today, she wanted to eat according to An’an’s taste.

"Then let's go down and take a look before deciding."

After the mother and daughter finished getting ready, they went downstairs. They walked around the neighborhood, and finally An Yiruo's gaze fell on the signboard of a mala tang (spicy hot pot) restaurant.
