Jiang Wanyan arrived at the office door. When the assistant saw her coming, he immediately stood up and asked, "Do you want to come in?"
Jiang Wanyan gestured and shook her head and said, "Don't go in yet. Don't tell him."
The assistant didn't understand why she came but didn't want him to tell Xi Chenzhu, but he didn't ask any more questions. Instead, he asked, "Would you like to sit down?"
Jiang Wanyan shook her head, signaling him not to bother with her, and said, "I want to think about some things first before going in."
Seeing that Jiang Wanyan insisted on not going in and didn't want to sit down, the assistant didn't say anything. After all, it was Jiang Wanyan's decision, and he just had to do his job well. The assistant respected Jiang Wanyan's decision and didn't say much. He sat down and continued his work.
Jiang Wanyan paced back and forth at the door. After a while, she took a deep breath, pushed the door open and walked into the office.
She originally expected to see Xi Chenzhu sitting at his desk working, but the room was empty and she was stunned.
I looked back at the assistant at the door. The assistant didn't say anything, but just sat quietly working.
Jiang Wanyan hesitated for a moment and finally decided to go in and take a look.
She continued to walk inside and entered the lounge. She saw Xi Chenzhu lying on the bed and sleeping. She was a little surprised that a workaholic like Xi Chenzhu would actually rest during working hours.
Jiang Wanyan walked gently to the bedside, afraid of waking Xi Chenzhu up. Xi Chenzhu sleeping here meant that he was really tired, and Jiang Wanyan didn't want to wake him up.
Xi Chenzhu was sleeping so soundly that he didn't notice Jiang Wanyan coming in at all.
Jiang Wanyan sat beside the bed, looking at Xi Chenzhu's peaceful sleeping face.
His face no longer had the usual indifference and seriousness, and became much gentler. Jiang Wanyan was a little surprised. He had never seen Xi Chenzhu like this before. It seemed like he was a completely different person.
He looked like someone who was easy to get along with, not at all like his usual cold and unapproachable self.
Jiang Wanyan looked at his face and pursed her lips slightly. Xi Chenzhu was still good-looking. Unlike those young handsome guys in the entertainment industry, he had the unique charm of a mature man.
Jiang Wanyan watched quietly for a while. She didn't intend to wake him up. She took a deep breath, turned around gently, walked to a chair beside her and sat down, quietly watching Xi Chenzhu sleep.
There was no light on in the lounge, and the curtains were completely drawn, making it pitch black, as if it were night.
After about two hours, Xi Chenzhu finally woke up.
He sat on the bed, looking a little lost and confused. He didn't notice Jiang Wanyan here. He put on his clothes and then stood by the window in a daze, as if he was thinking about something important.
It took him a while to wake up completely. He turned his head and saw Jiang Wanyan sitting in the room. He widened his eyes in disbelief, thinking he was dreaming, and rubbed his eyes hard.
Jiang Wanyan looked at Xi Chenzhu's surprised expression and said softly, "I've been here for a long time."
Jiang Wanyan looked at him with some amusement. He looked a little slow as he had just woken up.
Xi Chenzhu said, "Why are you here? You can just wake me up when you come. You don't have to wait for me to wake up."
He was willing to make time for Jiang Wanyan, and he would respond to her at any time as long as Jiang Wanyan needed him.
Jiang Wanyan shook her head and said, "I'm not in a hurry, I just want to see you."
Xi Chenzhu nodded and waited for Jiang Wanyan to continue. He knew that Jiang Wanyan couldn't have come to see him just for the sake of it. She must have something to say to him.
Jiang Wanyan said she wanted to see him, but she didn't know what to say. She hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to speak her mind frankly: "I came to see you because I really have something to tell you."
Xi Chenzhu looked at Jiang Wanyan, waiting for her to continue. Jiang Wanyan whispered, "If you really like me, we can try to be together."
Jiang Wanyan felt a little embarrassed after she finished speaking. She felt that what she said seemed a bit narcissistic. What did he mean by "he really liked her"?
She wasn't sure if Xi Chenzhu really liked her, but she said it anyway. She was about to explain when Xi Chenzhu said, "Okay."
Jiang Wanyan was stunned for a moment. Xi Chenzhu looked at Jiang Wanyan with a smile in his eyes. He nodded and said, "Let's start from the beginning. I will pursue you."
Xi Chenzhu's eyes were deep. Jiang Wanyan was burned by his gaze and quickly lowered her head. Her heartbeat accelerated uncontrollably. She was a little flattered by Xi Chenzhu's answer.
Jiang Wanyan shook her head and said, "I should pursue you."
Xi Chenzhu said with a smile: "Why should I ask you to chase me?"
Jiang Wanyan whispered, "Because, because I liked you first?"
She spoke uncertainly, feeling uneasy.
Xi Chenzhu said, "How do you know you liked her first? What if I liked her first?"
When Jiang Wanyan heard him say that, she felt like she had heard something funny and shook her head, saying, "Impossible."
Xi Chenzhu didn't argue with her and said, "Let me do it. I want to try what it feels like to chase someone."
Jiang Wanyan always felt that she was the one who fell in love with Xi Chenzhu first. When she heard Xi Chenzhu say that, she had no choice but to nod.
No matter what, it doesn’t matter who falls in love with whom first. As long as they like each other, it’s enough, it’s just a matter of how much.
Xi Chenzhu looked at Jiang Wanyan and asked, "Would you like to have dinner together tonight? I'll cook for you."
They hadn't had a proper home-cooked meal together in a long time, eating out or having one person leave food for the other.
Jiang Wanyan nodded and said, "Okay."
Then she asked, "Didn't you sleep well last night? I saw you were sleeping."
Xi Chenzhu looked at her, smiled, and said, "What do you think?"
Jiang Wanyan said confusedly, "I don't know."
Xi Chenzhu said helplessly: "You should know."
Jiang Wanyan hesitated and asked, "Is it because of me that you can't sleep?"
Xi Chenzhu said: "Yes, it's because of you that I can't sleep."
Jiang Wanyan felt a little embarrassed by his gaze. He felt like a sinner. He asked Xi Chenzhu, "Doesn't that make me a sinner?"
Xi Chenzhu looked into his eyes and said, "No, I like you. It's my fault that I can't sleep."
Jiang Wanyan blushed at those words. What did they mean by he liked her, so he deserved to not be able to sleep? These words were too ambiguous and a little hard for Jiang Wanyan to accept.
Xi Chenzhu didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said. He lowered his head and looked at Jiang Wanyan seriously, his eyes full of tenderness, as if he was looking at someone he had been secretly in love with for many years.
Jiang Wanyan felt as if she had been seen through by him when he looked at her like this. She said uncomfortably, "Don't look at me like that."
Xi Chenzhu asked, "Then how should I look at you?"
Jiang Wanyan replied, "Just be the same as usual. Just look at me the way you usually look at me. There's no need to deliberately change."
However, Xi Chenzhu asked back, "Isn't this how I usually look at you?"
