Chapter 396: Testing

When she heard the voice, Tonghua felt a chill in her heart. She turned around mechanically and saw a smiling face. But only Tonghua knew what a dirty heart was hidden under this smile.

Tonghua immediately looked at him warily and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Jason, however, still had a relaxed expression on his face. He said, "I just heard that Andy and you had some arguments, so I came to take a look."

Fairy Tale: "The matter has been resolved. Thank you for your concern."

Tonghua's expression was very cold, indicating that he was not very welcome, but Jason seemed not to notice and continued to ask enthusiastically: "I wonder what you two plan to do in the next period of time?"

Tonghua said without changing his expression, "We plan to go to the mountain later to check out the specific situation of the landslide. Maybe the car can pass through."

Jason sneered: "It seems that Miss Tong really wants to leave here as soon as possible!"

"Of course, who wouldn't want to leave this dangerous place as soon as possible?"

After saying that, Tong Hua wanted to pull Tang Shiyao away, but Jason asked again, "I wonder what the first thing Miss Tong wants to do when she returns home after leaving?"

Tonghua couldn't tell whether Jason's question was a casual one or a suspicion, so she could only pretend to be calm and said, "Of course I want to take a nice hot bath when I get home. After all, it's not convenient to take a bath living in the mountains."

Hearing this, Jason's eyes quickly flashed with a gleam of light, and then he quickly laughed: "So that's how it is. Since you guys still have things to do, Miss Tong, I won't bother you anymore."

After saying that, Jason left with a sense of satisfaction.

When Tong Hua and Tang Shiyao returned to the car and set off towards the mountain, Tang Shiyao asked, "Tong Tong, were you planning to say something to me just now?"

Fairy Tale warned her: "Just remember that Jason has bad intentions. Be careful when you meet him."

"good."

When Tonghua and Tang Shiyao drove up the mountain, the further they went up the mountain, the worse the situation seemed.

When they first came here, although the journey was a bit bumpy and the road was uneven, the surrounding trees and grass were very lush and the scenery was very nice. But now the situation is very different from before.

Trees that were growing wildly and were as tall as tens of meters were broken by the mudslides coming from the mountains. Some were even uprooted, not to mention the short flowers and plants. They mixed together with the rain, soil, and mud from the mountains to form a powerful torrent.

Wherever they go, they turn everything into mud several meters high. Once someone accidentally enters, their entire body will be trapped in it, and in the end no trace will be left. It is like a man-eating trap.

The further up the mountain the fairy tales drove, the more frightened they became when they saw these things.

I'm afraid Max's chances of survival are slim!

Tonghua drove while carefully observing Tang Shiyao's expression. Finally, she couldn't help but ask, "Do you want to continue going up?"

Tang Shiyao put one hand to her mouth, looking straight ahead with a serious expression. It was obvious that she also felt that Max might really have been in trouble.

Originally, they heard Jason say that Max had gone up the mountain before them. In the end, they were worried that something had happened to Max, so they went up the mountain to take a look. However, they only saw the eruption of mudslides, but did not see Max in person. Because of this, Tang Shiyao always held a glimmer of hope that Max might still be alive.

This time they went up the mountain not only to see if the road up the mountain was completely flooded, but also to take the opportunity to find Max's whereabouts.

But seeing how serious the mudslide was now, Tang Shiyao's heart began to waver.

Maybe Max is really dead?

Tang Shiyao felt sad at the thought that something like this might have happened. Although she had known Max for less than a month, she still regarded him as her friend. As for the death of her friend, Tang Shiyao felt that she could not accept this fact yet.

Tonghua could feel Tang Shiyao's feelings. Although she didn't have much contact with Max, she felt very sorry for the passing of such a life.

Although Tang Shiyao didn't say whether they wanted to continue up the mountain to look for Max's whereabouts, Tonghua still drove the car up the mountain. They only stopped the car when the road conditions were too bad and the car couldn't pass. Now most of the road up the mountain had been covered by mudslides, and they could only go up the mountain by manpower.

Tonghua: "Shiyao, let's go down and take a look."

After they got out of the car, they walked one after another, carefully avoiding the rocks, puddles and mud piles that were easy to sink into on the road.

They had once rested for a night not far from here, but now there was no trace of what they had been before.

As they walked, they sighed at the power of nature and the impermanence of life. Although they had long given up hope, Tang Shiyao still felt a little disappointed when they still couldn't find any trace of Max after searching for a while.

When there was no road ahead and even a single person couldn't pass, Tonghua persuaded Tang Shiyao: "Shiyao, let's go back."

Tang Shiyao gritted her teeth and said, "But I'm still not willing to give up!"

As she spoke, she picked up her phone again and called Max.

“Beep—beep—beep—”

During the long phone call, Tang Shiyao held on to the last bit of hope, hoping that the call would be connected, but a minute passed and the phone was still filled with that cold "beep" sound. Finally, Tang Shiyao completely lost hope and hung up the phone without even looking at it.
