Chapter 20 Little Lucky Star
Less than ten minutes later, Lin Yangyang and Xiao Guai arrived with Li Minghui, Lin Fusheng and others. The moment they saw the water, they all took out bamboo tubes, filled them with water and gulped it down.
"Cool."
"This spring water is much sweeter than well water."
"Sister Zhao Zhao is amazing, she found the water right away."
"This is all thanks to Xiao Guai. Not long after my uncles and father went into the mountains, she led me and Yangyang here."
"Little Guai is truly our lucky star. We found water as soon as we arrived." Praises poured out like they were free. Little Guai's mustache twitched, his eyes squinted, and he snored loudly, as if he were floating.
Lin Zhaozhao found it amusing, then heard Li Yunzhou say, "Maybe Xiao Guai will be able to find something to eat later."
As soon as the words were spoken, the already smug little dog took a few steps back, twitched its nose slightly, and then dug its paws through the soil, burrowing into the ground like a hunting fox.
"Huh, this... looks like a sweet potato vine." Lin Fusheng picked a small stem and leaves, and when he broke it, a milky white liquid flowed out. The little darling that had been burrowing in the soil also poked its head out, with a small sweet potato in its mouth.
With a gurgling sound, the little sweet potato rolled to Li Minghui's feet. Li Minghui was overjoyed, grabbed the little darling, tossed it into the air like he was playing with a child, and then caught it steadily.
Lin Zhaozhao thought Xiao Guai would object, but to her surprise, it was having a lot of fun, its paws stomping on Li Minghui's face, looking both arrogant and adorable.
After playing around for a while, everyone started digging sweet potatoes. Big ones and small ones were piled up, and once the sweet potatoes were packed, the vines were also removed.
The area in front was crowded with people, so Li Junsheng had no choice but to walk further in. The ground was covered with hemp fibers, and he slipped and fell into thin air.
"Dad, Uncle, Uncle-in-law, guess what I found? A watermelon, a mini watermelon!" Li Junsheng grinned like a fool, picked one, and cracked it open with his fist. The rind was thin, the flesh was bright red, and it tasted sweet and delicious.
Li Junsheng ate a small piece and handed the rest over, saying, "This is the best watermelon I've ever eaten."
"Dad, don't throw away these watermelon seeds. Once we're settled in Shou'an, we'll plant watermelons."
"That's quite a dream," Lin Zhaozhao chuckled, feeling a sense of relief. Once they arrived in Shou'an and settled down, this idea could indeed be realized. She just didn't know if the watermelon seeds would be affected by the change in environment.
The idea is wonderful, but it still needs to be put into practice.
"Yunhai, Yunzhou, go get the watermelons for Junsheng. Also, everyone dig around here and see if there's anything else wild and edible." Li Minghui rubbed his hands excitedly. "Little darling is amazing."
Working together, the group quickly turned over the entire open space, finding it piled high with potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet potato vines, and potato roots.
Li Yunhai squatted down and tossed out a potato about the size of a thumb. "This yellow lump is round and hard to the touch. Can we eat it?"
"What are you still complaining about now?" Li Yunzhou rolled his eyes, threw the sweet potatoes and potatoes in the soil together, and when he dug further, the soil was obviously much drier and harder. Sure enough, he dug up an empty space. "Dad, I've reached the end here."
"Me too."
"It seems that's all there is."
"You brat, you still think it's not enough? This pile is enough to last us for at least half a month."
