Chapter 25 Kid, you're still too young
When she woke up again, it was already dark. Her hands and feet were bound and her mouth was gagged. Looking at the bright moonlight leaking in through the cracks in the window, Li Yunyun thought of her family and her future misery, and tears streamed down her face.
She didn't take her grandmother's description of the famine seriously. Even if she had experienced it firsthand, under the protection of her family, she thought that famine was just like that. It wasn't until she experienced it alone that Li Yunyun suddenly realized that the most terrifying thing on the road to famine was not the natural disaster, but the man-made disaster that followed.
Alone, Lin Zhaozhao had fewer concerns and went straight into the space.
After entering the space, Lin Zhaozhao first took a shower in the wooden house. She came out feeling refreshed, and Meimei was already waiting at the door. Meimei bit her trouser leg and then made a drooling gesture.
Lin Zhaozhao quickly understood what it meant; it was craving snail rice noodles.
"You've become addicted to eating just one sheep?" Lin Zhaozhao gave it a push, and the little guy trotted back, lay down on the ground, and bleated. The sheep was already pretty, and who could resist its cuteness?
Without saying a word, Lin Zhaozhao started cooking the snail rice noodles. She had also ordered spicy chicken noodles, milk, and cheese earlier, and she started cooking those as well.
While the snail rice noodles were still simmering, the milk and turkey noodles were already cooked.
Afraid of stomach pain from spicy food, Lin Zhaozhao only used one-third of the sauce packet. After tasting it, she found it suited her taste perfectly.
Seeing her eat, Meimei's mouth watered, so Lin Zhaozhao picked up a piece of food for it with her chopsticks. But after taking a bite, its face clearly showed its dissatisfaction, and it raised its front hoof to point at the sauce packet placed to the side.
So they thought it wasn't spicy enough.
"Are you sure you want to add all of it? This is not like snail rice noodles." After receiving a satisfactory answer, Lin Zhaozhao mixed all the remaining sauce packets into the bowl.
The turkey noodles, stained red with sauce, exuded a rich aroma. Meimei took a delicious bite, her face beaming with satisfaction. As the noodles dried out, they transformed into the familiar recipe.
Four sheep hooves left afterimages as they ran through the air before finally jumping into the fishpond. Seeing their silly way of chasing and nibbling at the fish, Lin Zhaozhao couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Kid, you're still too young.
As night fell, the sky was filled with stars. Guided by the grapevines, Lin Yangyang hurried forward in the darkness. Hot sweat dripped into her eyes, stinging them. Lin Yangyang roughly wiped her face. The grapevines suddenly stopped, and the curved vines pointed to the wooden house ahead.
Lin Yangyang adjusted her breathing, composed herself, and silently walked towards the dilapidated house. The broken window was completely exposed, and the shadow cast by it startled Li Yunyun, who was pretending to be asleep. The moment she saw Lin Yangyang, her breathing became disordered.
Lin Yangyang pressed her lips to Li Yunyun's, climbed through the window into the room, and helped Li Yunyun untie the ropes.
Her hands and feet were numb from being tied up. Only when that piercing numbness came over her did Li Yunyun feel the reality of being rescued.
"Yangyang, sob sob sob." Li Yunyun sobbed uncontrollably, and Lin Yangyang roughly covered her mouth, "It's not too late to cry after you escape first."
"See that window? I just pried it open. You go first."
"Hmm." Li Yunyun didn't falter. After her hands and feet recovered, she climbed out by stepping on Lin Yangyang's shoulders. Just when it seemed that the two of them were about to successfully escape, fate intervened. Someone opened the door to the inner room and saw Lin Yangyang, who was trying to escape.
At a shout, three refugees surrounded the area from both sides.
