Chapter 2: Testing

It’s a pity that most of the villagers don’t believe it and are unwilling to leave the village where their ancestors have lived for generations.

Most people thought that the second son of the Li family was exaggerating, including the two elders of the Su family.

Li Rui, the second son of the Li family, hurriedly left the village with only his own family members and a few other families.

When they left the village that day, many people whispered behind their backs that the second son of the Li family and his companions would regret it sooner or later, and that he was timid and so on.

But they never expected that three days after they left, refugees rushed into Lijia Village in the middle of the night, and the village became a purgatory that night.

The Su family was a family of other surnames, living at the end of the village. When they heard the noise, they immediately fled to the mountain. Originally, the whole family could have escaped, but when they ran to the mountainside, the eldest uncle said that he had left a box of silver and books in the house, and asked her and her younger sister-in-law to go and get them.

She and Su Baozhu were reluctant, but under the orders of Mrs. Su and Mr. Su, they had to return to the house. Her mother was worried about her and followed her.

They returned home carefully all the way, but they did not find the books and silver that their uncle had mentioned. When they were about to return, they were discovered by the refugees. The result can be imagined.

When Su Yin thought of this, he couldn't help but sneer in his heart.

There was no silver or books in the house. It was obvious that they wanted to send them to death.

After hearing Su's mother's question, I knew that she still couldn't accept rebirth, or couldn't understand what rebirth was.

Su Yin thought for a moment and said, "Mom, if you want to know if our dream is true, it's very simple. We'll know when Li Rui's family comes back. If it's just like what we dreamed about and they said those words, then what we experienced was not a dream, but reality."

"If Li Ruijia had not returned, and had not said those words, then what we dreamed about might just be a dream."

Mother Su nodded to this statement and said, "Let's wait and see."

"Mom, I want to go to town tomorrow and buy some things."

Troubled times are coming, and we must be prepared.

"Well, you might as well go and ask around."

After comforting their mother, they both went back to their rooms.

An hour later, it was dawn. At this time in the past, Su Yin would cook, prepare pig food, clean the yard, fetch water, and chop firewood with her mother and sister-in-law. As for the first and second wives of the Su family, they didn't need anything, they just waited to get up and eat the ready-made food.

Her biological clock told her to wake up early, but she didn't get up. She still lay in bed, thinking about how to deal with the next situation.

It is a foregone conclusion that refugees will rush into the village.

Troubled times are coming, and how to keep yourself alive and the people you care about alive is your top priority.

"Daya, where have you been? The sun is shining on your butt, but you are still lying in bed. I have never seen a girl as lazy as you."

The strong voice of Old Mrs. Su was heard from the yard, followed by the voice of my mother.

"Mom, the child is sick."

"What's wrong with her? Don't think I don't know. This is not a disease, it's just laziness. I really raised her for nothing."

"The child is really ill and can't even get up. I'd like to ask a doctor to take a look at her."

As soon as the doctor was mentioned, it was like stepping on Mrs. Su's tail, and her voice suddenly rose, "What are you looking at!"

"There is no money at home. Just lie down and take a good sleep. Old Third, you don't know how expensive firewood and rice are if you don't run the household. Don't give me those unnecessary things. The children in our Su family are not so delicate that they need to see a doctor when they are sick."

"I want to hire a doctor and be born into the family of an official lady in my next life. There is no such thing here."

The last sentence was shouted at the dilapidated woodshed where Su Yin was.

After this interruption, Old Lady Su no longer held Su Yin back from working. After all, in front of money, she, Su Yin, was nothing.

After all the Su family members went to work in the fields and there was no one in the courtyard, Su's mother secretly pushed open the wooden door.

"Daya, they are all gone."

She took out a handkerchief from her pocket, which contained a piece of broken silver and several dozen copper coins.

"Take these with you."

"Um."

Su Yin took it over. These things were the few pocket money of her mother. Her mother kept it secret and didn't tell anyone. If Old Lady Su knew about it, she would have taken it away with various excuses.

"Mom, if grandma and the others come to see me, tell them that I went to Doctor Li to ask for medicine." Su Yin thought of something, "Where is my aunt now?"

"She said she was feeling unwell and was lying in the house. Your grandma didn't let her get out of bed."

"Mom." Su Yin waved, and Su's mother leaned over and whispered a few words in her ear.

There was confusion in Su's mother's eyes, but she still nodded.

"I remember that. Be careful on the road, too."

"Um."

Su Yin left the yard and ran towards the direction of the county town. Halfway there, she squatted down and glanced at the big tree behind her. There was a figure flashing behind the tree.

Su Yin stood up calmly, pretended to know nothing, and continued walking forward.

When you reach no-man's land, stop.

"Come out."

Su Yin looked at the looming figure in the grass under the ridge of the field and said, "I've seen you."

The person in the bushes slowly stood up and looked at Su Yin.

"Auntie, why are you following me?"

The younger girl, Su Baozhu, is one year older than Su Yin. She is the daughter of old lady Su. Logically, the youngest child is more likely to be spoiled by her parents, but the Su couple both favor boys over girls and do not feel sorry for this daughter at all.

When I was a child, I grew up drinking Su's mother's milk. It can be said that Su's mother raised me with great difficulty.

Su Baozhu and Su Yin had a good relationship before they were six years old. At that time, they had a falling out because of fighting over a meat pie.

As for the meat pie, Da Huang from next door got there first. Not only did the two of them not get to eat a bite of the meat pie, but they were also beaten by Old Lady Su when they got home. From that time on, their relationship became ordinary.

Su Baozhu patted the grass debris on her body and said, "I didn't follow you."

"After leaving the village, you followed me all the way. If you didn't follow me, why would you hide?" Su Yin looked at her leisurely.

Before leaving, she asked her mother to go to Su Baozhu's door and told her that she was going out, just to test her and see if she would take any action.

After this simple test, Su Baozhu really took the bait.

Su Baozhu did not respond directly, but tried to change the subject, "Well, I just want to ask you, why did you go out so late last night?"

He hesitated in answering questions, as if he was using "unimportant" things to avoid "important questions".

The method that seemed to be avoiding the main issue but actually concealing the real purpose made Su Yin more optimistic about her.

"Why did you go out, little aunt?"

Su Yin kicked the ball back easily.
