"Why the fight?"
Su Yin sat down next to Su Baozhu and reached out to check her scalp.
Su Baozhu muttered quietly, "I didn't know what was going on at the time, I just wanted to teach her a lesson. Maybe I just didn't like her."
“You, you!”
Su Yin also disliked Da Zhuang's mother, and sometimes she wanted to rush up and beat her up, especially when she saw her torturing Daya.
But if the other party didn't do anything to you, you shouldn't attack him for no reason.
She glanced at Su Baozhu and somewhat understood her actions.
"Did you vent your anger?"
Su Baozhu smiled at her and said, "I feel much better now."
"Don't be impulsive next time. It will be difficult to deal with if you get hurt."
"No."
In the mountain temple, women and men were busy making containers.
The injured man didn't do anything, but the others who could do it were working, even Su's mother was helping.
At three quarters past the hour of Xu, the head of the village asked everyone to rest.
We have to travel tomorrow, so we need to get enough rest.
Su Baozhu had already prepared a sleeping place. It was actually very simple. She just found a place in the temple and spread a straw mat. The straw mat was quite big, just enough for Su Yin, Su's mother and Su Baozhu to lie down.
Not far from them were my aunt, Xiao Taohua, and Xiao Yanggui, three people in total. Further to the side were my second aunt's family and my eldest aunt and her family.
The two older cousins also followed closely on my aunt's side.
"There are many mosquitoes at night, so add more mugwort to fumigate."
Su's mother felt sorry for her daughter. Other people would only get one or two bites, but her daughter would get at least several times more than others. She had to spend the night in the woods and suffer a lot.
Old Mrs. Zhang was dissatisfied. "Why put so much? It's going to suffocate people."
My aunt couldn't help but say, "We are afraid of mosquitoes, so we need to put more. Mother-in-law, you are not afraid of mosquitoes, why don't you move to the side to avoid being fumigate."
As soon as she opened her mouth, Old Mrs. Zhang suddenly dared not speak.
My second aunt took some mugwort out, and today it was my second uncle's turn to guard the first half of the night.
This night was dreamless and peaceful.
Before dawn in the morning, Su Yin heard a rustling sound in the mountain temple. She opened her eyes and saw many people getting up under the moonlight.
"Nizi, hurry up and collect more dew before it gets light."
"Get up quickly."
People of all ages in the temple got up one after another, taking the containers they had made last night to collect dew.
Dew must be collected before the sun rises, otherwise it will quickly disappear once the sun comes out.
Su's mother got up too.
"Mom, where are you going?"
"I'll collect some for them."
Su Yin originally wanted to sleep for a while, but after thinking about it, she got up as well.
One more person means more strength and can collect more dew.
Whether we can find water today is still unknown.
"I'll go too."
"No, you should sleep a little longer."
"fine."
Su Baozhu also stood up.
When we walked outside, the men of Xinghua Village had already taken their tools and went out to collect dew. The only person who was resting was Master Wan San.
The man was leaning against the tree trunk, snoring soundly in his sleep.
Su Yin didn't bother him.
There were quite a few people near the mountain temple. Su Yin and the other two walked a little further inside and each found a bush to collect dew.
"There's not much dew here."
"Yeah. There wasn't much dew on many of the trees."
Not only Su Yin noticed it, but everyone else noticed it.
The dew on the bushes evaporated before the sun rose.
Su Yin didn't collect much, and the situation was similar for others.
The three men gave the collected dew to Aunt Wang's family. Aunt Wang thanked them repeatedly and almost knelt down to kowtow.
Due to the lack of water, except for a few families who cooked with fire, the rest of the families still had to eat dry food.
Master Wan San ate the porridge in the bowl with some disgust.
Being used to eating delicacies from land and sea, he could accept having a meal of porridge with side dishes occasionally, but having porridge for two meals in a row, each meal worse than the last, made him feel very uncomfortable.
"Why not put some meat in it?" Master Wan muttered.
"It's good to have something to eat. Look at the others."
Uncle Wan San looked up and noticed that many children were staring at the porridge in their bowls. They didn't say anything and just drank the porridge in silence.
After everyone had packed up, the group set off on their journey.
After walking for about an hour, the boundary marker of Nanping County appeared in front of them.
"We've finally arrived in Nanping County."
"I heard that Nanping County is more prosperous than our Lingxi County and has a larger population."
"Yes, yes. I've heard about it from the merchants, too."
"I wonder what the situation is like in Nanping County. Will it be better than ours?"
Arriving at a new place, everyone's mood became good.
But as they walked, they gradually realized that something was wrong.
Su Yin paid attention to the surrounding environment. There were many fertile fields not far away, with grains planted in them, but all the grains had dried up and died. The fields were cracked, with criss-crossing gullies forming.
Yang Dashan squatted down and touched a handful of shriveled wheat ears, feeling very distressed.
These ears of rice cannot bear fruit.
The further they went, the drier the crops became.
"The situation in Nanping County is even worse than that in Lingxi County." Someone exclaimed in surprise.
"Maybe it's only serious in this area, and it will get better later."
Everyone hopes so, but most know that the hope is slim.
Master Wan San didn't seem surprised at all.
"Fat Master, how much do you know about the situation in Nanping County?"
"Very bad."
These three words are enough to explain it all.
