Chapter 3 Procurement

Su Baozhu was stunned, obviously she didn't expect that she didn't fall for it. There was a flash of annoyance in her eyes, as if she was puzzled as to why that silly 'Su Yin' had become so difficult to deal with.

Noticing that Su Baozhu was nervous and unconsciously clenched the corners of her clothes, she didn't say anything and waited quietly for her decision.

Su Baozhu took a deep breath, as if she had made up her mind. She looked around to make sure that no one was around, then she lowered her voice and said, "I had a dream last night. I dreamed that we were killed by refugees."

When she mentioned "refugees", her body trembled uncontrollably and the fear in her eyes could not be hidden.

The inhuman torture she suffered before her death became a nightmare that she could not let go of and could not easily get rid of.

Su Yin understood.

Su Baozhu was also reborn.

"Do you think that was a dream?"

Su Baozhu was stunned, then shook her head, "No, that was not a dream."

She didn't believe it was a dream.

Dreams are not that real.

She still could not forget the pain of having her flesh cut off piece by piece in the dream. Even more so, she could not forget the group of beasts roasting her flesh over the fire, commenting on every part of the meat with a smile, and even forcing her to eat it.

When she thought of this, Su Baozhu could no longer control the churning in her stomach and ran to the ditch to vomit violently.

Su Yin walked forward and patted her back gently.

When the group of refugees rushed into the village, she was the first to be stabbed to death by them. Her soul floated in the air and saw what the refugees did to Su Baozhu.

The way she died was even more miserable than mine. It could be said that she was tortured to death. Before she died, she watched her own flesh being roasted and eaten. She was forced to eat her own flesh and listened to those beasts criticizing her.

This way of dying is extremely tormenting to both the body and mind.

"It's over. Everything is over. Now is a new beginning. There's still time for everything."

Su Baozhu raised her head. Her face was pale, but her eyes were unusually bright, as if she had grasped something. "You also, also..."

She didn't know how to describe it.

"Rebirth." Su Yin completed the two words for her.

"Rebirth." She chewed on these two words carefully in her mouth, and suddenly cried and laughed, muttering, "Yes, it is rebirth. Isn't this rebirth? Let us live again."

After waiting for her to calm down, Su Yin spoke, "What are you going to do?"

Su Baozhu raised her head, her eyes became determined, "I want to live. You and Third Sister-in-law have been reborn, right?"

Very quick response!

Su Yin did not respond directly.

"Although I don't know what you are going to do, I think you don't want to continue staying with that group of people, right?" Su Baozhu asked tentatively.

Su Yin waited quietly for her to continue.

"The power of one person is limited. Only when there are more people will there be more hope for survival in the future. I think I can help, and I will definitely not hold you back." Su Baozhu said in a calm voice, staring at her with burning eyes.

Su Yin extended her hand, "Welcome to join."

Su Baozhu glanced at the hands, was stunned for two seconds, and then held her hands.

When two hands are joined, their destinies intersect.

The two headed straight for the county town.

It is difficult for them to take many things away from home, so they have to prepare many things themselves.

"Aunt, go to places like teahouses to get information. You don't need to ask too much, just listen to the conversations of the merchants outside. Can you do it?" Su Yin asked.

"No problem. What about you?"

"I have to buy supplies, equipment, uh, things that will keep us alive in the future."

Su Baozhu took out a silver hairpin from her pocket and said, "This is for you. It's useless to keep it, so you should exchange it for something useful."

Su Yin recognized that this silver hairpin was made by Su Baozhu, who had paid the money for it. When she bought it, it was almost taken away by Old Lady Su. If Su Baozhu hadn't cried and refused to give it up, she would have lost the silver hairpin and it might have fallen into the hands of her aunt.

The two separated at the city gate and went in different directions.

Su Yin went straight to the rice, grain and oil shop. There was a sign hanging at the door of the rice shop with the prices written on it. Most people usually went into the shop to ask about the prices and didn't know the words on the door at all.

Rice, one dou, 280 wen. [Note 1]

Millet, a dou, two hundred and fifty-five coins.

A dou of millet is worth two hundred and forty coins.

Su Yin stood at the door and took a look. The characters were similar to those of ancient China, and she could basically make out some of them.

The Su family had a scholar in the generation of my great-grandfather, but no one in my grandfather's generation passed the examination to become a Tongsheng. It was not until my eldest uncle passed the examination that the Su family was able to be proud again. This is why my grandparents favored my eldest uncle.

If you add some gilding to it, the Su family can also be called a family of farmers and scholars. Before she awakened her memory, she also secretly learned some. Now that she has recovered her memory of Blue Star, she should be able to recognize most of these words by guessing.

When she entered, two women were carrying rice bags and muttering to each other.

"Yesterday, the price of a dou was 220 wen. It has suddenly increased by 20 wen. It's really crazy."

"Let's go to the store on the next street. It's cheaper there."

The two women left with the empty bags, cursing.

The clerk sneered, not worried about losing business at all, and muttered, "Don't you see what kind of year it is now? It's good to have food."

Su Yin watched this scene silently and understood it in her heart.

I’m afraid that when the two women go to the rice shop on the next street, they will see that the prices are either the same or higher.

Su Yin walked in. The waiter took one look at her patched coarse cloth clothes and said directly, "The cheapest aged millet in the store is 180 wen per dou."
