Chapter 94: Coaxing to Sleep

Chapter 94: Coaxing to Sleep

After successfully coaxing the little boy to sleep at night, Su Wan closed her eyes and fell asleep.

The next day, she slept until after eight in the morning.

Yesterday's washing was dry, and she dressed the little boy in his own clothes, as the room was heated enough that he only wore his base layer.

She herself was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and waiting for them to bring her breakfast, which was a big meat bun and fragrant lean meat porridge.

After they finished their breakfast, they played until almost twelve o'clock in the morning when there was a sudden knock on the door of the room.

Su Wan opened the door and was about to speak when she found a very handsome and dashing man standing at the door who looked to be only about 25 or 26 years old.

"Who are you?"

"Hello, comrade. I'm Xu Ruichen, Xu Chengyi's uncle."

The man extended his hand, and Su Wan quickly reached out and shook his hand. "Hello, Comrade Xu, your nephew is inside."

As he spoke, Su Wan called out to the inside, "Xiao Chengyi, your uncle is here."

When she said this, there was something strange in Xu Ruichen's eyes.

Su Wan didn't notice the surprise in his eyes. Seeing that Xiao Chengyi didn't say anything, she immediately turned around and called him, "Xiao Chengyi, your uncle is here. You can go home now."

Xu Ruichen also followed in. After he stepped over with his long legs, he saw his autistic little nephew being held in Su Wan's arms, and there was a light in his eyes.

"Why are you silent? Aren't you happy that your uncle is here?"

Holding little Chengyi, Su Wan asked curiously.

"I don't want to go home. I want to stay with my sister."

Little Chengyi spoke, and the tone in his baby voice was muffled.

Xu Ruichen opened his mouth, not knowing how to describe his feelings at the moment.

He rushed over and immediately grabbed little Chengyi's hand, "Chengyi, are you finally willing to talk?"

Xiao Chengyi lowered his eyelashes and said nothing.

Seeing Xu Ruichen's excitement, Su Wan became even more curious. "Comrade Xu, what did you mean by that? What do you mean by Xiao Chengyi can't speak? He speaks very fluently!"

Xu Ruichen tried his best to suppress his excitement, looking at Su Wan with hesitation.

Seeing that he seemed to want to say something but was hesitant to, Su Wan said to Xiao Chengyi, "Xiao Chengyi, go eat some beef jerky while I talk to your uncle."

Little Chengyi nodded, picked up the beef jerky and started to eat it again.

After closing the door, Xu Ruichen said to Su Wan gratefully, "Thank you for your help, comrade. Cheng Yi doesn't like to talk when he's at home. I once thought he was in a state of shock, so he refused to speak."

"I don't know what kind of trauma little Chengyi went through before. He was indeed quiet when he was first taken away by the traffickers. But in the past two days that I've been with him, I've noticed that he can talk, but he doesn't seem to like talking much. He likes to act like a spoiled child."

When Xu Ruichen heard the word "act like a spoiled child", he couldn't believe his ears.

After all, Xu Chengyi really said nothing at home and seemed indifferent to everything around him.

He seemed to understand why the people at the police station said that Xiao Chengyi only wanted this person named Comrade Su Wan to take him with him.

Is it because there is something about her that is worth him talking about?

"I'd like to ask, how did Xiao Chengyi finally come to be willing to speak?"

"I asked him if he was hungry, and he said yes."

Su Wan seemed to be saying that it was no big deal, but Xu Ruichen was very excited.

He took a deep breath before saying, "Chengyi's father—my eldest brother—died on a mission. Upon hearing the news, my eldest sister-in-law spat up blood in front of Chengyi and died soon after, leaving behind Chengyi, who was only a little over a year old at the time. Chengyi remained silent the entire time, and we all thought he was frightened, which was why he acted like that. But Comrade Su Wan just mentioned that Chengyi didn't have any issues in that regard."

"I think Cheng Yi speaks very well. He can say anything. He knows everything I teach him."

"Comrade Su Wan, do you have a job?"

Xu Ruichen asked with burning eyes.

"I don't have a formal job. I'm just experiencing it on my own."

Su Wan didn't think there was anything shameful about being a self-employed person. After all, he earned his money with his own hands. Besides, who would be ashamed of money?

Xu Ruichen didn't think there was anything wrong with being self-employed. He asked, "Has Comrade Su Wan considered going to Beijing?"

"I'm not planning on going to Beijing for now. My husband's employer is in Guangdong Province, and he's currently studying in Heilongjiang Province. I came here to visit him."

Xu Ruichen was a little disappointed when he heard that Su Wan was married.

If she was not married, he would like to offer her a higher salary to go to the capital to take care of Cheng Yi. But if she was married, it might not be appropriate.

Su Wan seemed to understand what Xu Ruichen meant and said, "Chengyi is a sensitive child, but he is very smart and he has no problem speaking. You can communicate with him more often on a daily basis, and he should get better slowly."

Xu Ruichen felt that the Cheng Yi that Su Wan was talking about was not the same Cheng Yi that he had always been with.

He sighed softly, "After my eldest brother got into trouble, Chengyi was taken care of by the nanny at home. My grandfather was also taking care of him, but he never spoke at home. I wanted him to be like other children, so I brought him out this time when I came to Pengcheng. I didn't expect him to run away secretly and be abducted..."

Having said that, Xu Ruichen bowed deeply to Su Wan, "Comrade Su Wan, thank you for saving Cheng Yi."

"Comrade Xu, you're too polite. I was just casually doing that. If it weren't for Cheng Yi's hand showing a piece of the material of his blazer and the gold bracelet on his wrist, I wouldn't have known he was abducted. I also feel that this child and I have a special connection."

"I had hoped to ask Comrade Su Wan to take care of Cheng Yi. I feel like he's just a normal child in front of you."

"I really can't leave what I'm doing to take care of him, and I have a family. If Comrade Xu comes to Pengcheng in the future, he can bring Chengyi to stay with me for a while, but I can't go to Beijing to take care of him for a long time."

Liking Xiao Chengyi is one thing, but asking her to put aside all her own affairs and take care of him alone is another.

Xu Ruichen nodded, "I understand. Comrade Su Wan has his own things to do."

He is not the kind of person who likes to force things. Besides, people are very kind if they can help him, so he can't just push his luck.

"I'll have a good talk with little Chengyi later. He's very sensible and will understand your good intentions."

"Thank you, Comrade Su Wan!"

Su Wan entered the room, but Xu Ruichen was waiting at the door this time.

He looked inside the door, his eyes filled with unremitting sadness.

When he learned that Cheng Yi was missing, he, who was always calm and composed, almost lost control.

He couldn't imagine how he would face them if something happened to his eldest brother's only child.
