Chapter 109 One Hundred and Nine Slashes

"Okay." Xu Jiang walked over to the wooden couch and took a quick look. It was a fashionable style, knee-high and engraved with water and cloud patterns. It matched the Tai Chi-shaped low couch perfectly. Xu Jiang sat on it to try it out. The height and size were a perfect fit.

Xu San had his hands free, so he brought over the matching small table and set it up. Xu Jiang put his arm on it, which fit perfectly in his hand.

"Suitable!" Xu Jiang smiled with satisfaction.

Xu San said, "It can be delivered to the store tomorrow morning." He added, "I've already found a buyer for that counter. He'll come with me tomorrow to take a look. Once he's satisfied, we can take it away right away. We won't have to run back and forth."

Xu Jiang nodded and thanked him, saying, "Thank goodness I have Third Brother. Otherwise, I don't know who to find to sell it to."

Xu San chuckled and went on to apply tung oil.

Xu Jiang beckoned Lou Yunchun to try out the wooden couch. Lou Yunchun did as she was told and sat on it. Xu Jiang estimated that his size should be just right for lying down.

Xu San looked at the two of them stealthily, then cast a questioning look at Uncle Cao, who smiled and nodded.

Although the boss didn't say it in front of others, they were all experienced people and it was clear to them.

Xu San couldn't help but look at Lou Yunchun a few more times. He looked handsome, but a little serious, which made people hesitate to talk to him.

After Lou Yunchun finished testing the wooden couch, he walked up to the two of them and watched them paint it. Xu Jiang smiled, got up, and went to the inner courtyard to find Aunt Cao and Mrs. Zhuang.

Uncle Cao had met Lou Yunchun several times and was quite comfortable with him, so he started chatting with him. Although Lou Yunchun was a man of few words, he answered every question and the conversation was not dull.

After a few exchanges, Xu San gradually relaxed. He was a cheerful person, and after a few words, they became brothers.

Lou Yunchun asked, "Can I try?"

Xu San nodded and handed him the brush readily, and Uncle Cao explained to him how to apply the oil.

Xu Jiang hid behind the second gate and saw that the three of them were getting along harmoniously. Only then did she feel at ease and went to the kitchen to look for Aunt Cao and Zhuang.

As soon as she reached the kitchen door, she smelled the aroma of wine. Xu Jiang took a deep breath and asked, "What delicious food is Auntie making?"

Aunt Cao smiled and said, "You have a very sharp nose. The steamer has just been opened and you can smell the aroma."

As he spoke, he pulled her over, then took the grate and pressed it into the middle of the pink and white wine rice. The light pink wine sizzled out, making Xu Jiang drool with greed.

“It turns out to be peach blossom rice wine.”

Aunt Cao took out several ceramic bowls, wiped the wooden spoon clean, and poured the wine into the middle of the grate. After pouring the wine, she handed a bowl to Xu Jiang to taste it first.

Xu Jiang was not polite either. He took the bowl and licked it, praising it as "so sweet". Then he drank most of the bowl in one gulp after another.

Aunt Cao handed another bowl to her daughter-in-law, and then took a bowl to taste it, "Not bad, it tastes good."

After finishing a bowl, Xu Jiang licked his lips to savor the taste, and then he tasted a subtle astringency, which was the taste of plants and trees.

Peach blossoms are cold in nature and astringent in taste, which is unavoidable when made into wine. However, this astringency is what creates its unique flavor, making people want to explore more.

She raised the bowl towards Aunt Cao and said greedily, "Another bowl, please."

"Hey!" Aunt Cao liked the greedy look of her younger generation, so she quickly served her another bowl.

After drinking the rice wine, Aunt Cao scooped out another spoonful of lees, then asked her daughter-in-law to boil water and cook a few bowls of eggnog.

Xu Jiang and Zhuang first brought a few bowls to the people working outside, and then the mother and her two daughters hid in the kitchen and ate happily.

"Aunt, I got some fruit wine recently. I'll ask Uncle Cao to bring you some tomorrow. It tastes really good."

"Okay." They were all like family, so Aunt Cao didn't hesitate.

After finishing her eggnog, Aunt Cao stared at Xu Jiang for a moment, then lowered her voice and asked, "My dear, is that young man outside your fiancé?"

Xu Jiang was so shocked by her question that she gasped for breath, choked on a mouthful of soup, and started coughing until tears streamed down her face.
