Chapter 13 Thirteen Slashes

Du Hui pursed his lips, his expression yearning, and asked again: "Can you perform rituals?"

Xu Jiang was both amused and confused. She hadn't realized that Mr. Du not only liked to collect classics, but also liked to eat.

"Now is not the best season for eating fish sashimi. We have to wait until next spring or summer. Then I will invite you to taste it in my shop."

"It's a deal."

After the meal, everyone chatted for a while. Seeing that it was getting late, Xu Jiang stood up and said goodbye to everyone.

Lou Jing sent someone to escort her out of the garden. It was Liu Mei. When the two of them came out from the corner gate, they saw the boy from that morning and another servant waiting at the door with a donkey.

Xu Jiang almost stopped dead when she saw her donkey. It had two baskets on its back, piled high with persimmons. The donkey pawed the ground in dissatisfaction as soon as it saw her, breathing heavily through its nostrils.

"Why did you pick so many?" I'm afraid there are about a hundred pounds.

The servant said, "We happened to meet the young master when we were picking persimmons. He said if we wanted to pick as many as possible, he told us to pick these two baskets. He even picked many of them himself."

Didn't they say his young master wasn't around? And where did this guy suddenly come from? Xu Jiang thought of a burly man climbing a tree to pick persimmons, and somehow it reminded him of the monkeys on Mount Emei. He immediately burst out laughing.

"Miss Liu, thank your young master for me."

"Okay." Liu Mei smiled and said, "Remember to send some over for us to try once it's pickled. I've been thinking about it."

"I remember. I remember."

Xu Jiang said goodbye to her and went back with the boy who came to pick her up in the morning. When they returned to the market, Xu Jiang asked the boy to wait for a while and took out two jars of mushroom oil and asked him to take them to Du Hui.

"Thank your master for me."

"I understand, my lady."

When Hu Xu saw her coming back, he came out to greet her. He was also a little surprised to see that the donkey was carrying two large boxes of persimmons.

"Didn't you say you were going to the mansion to do some outside work? Why did you bring back so many persimmons?"

"It was given by the master of the Lou family."

"He's kind-hearted."

He helped Xu Jiang lead the donkey to the backyard and helped her unload the persimmons.

Looking at the two baskets of persimmons, he worried about Xu Jiang, "How can we eat all these persimmons?"

Xu Jiang said, "These are hard persimmons. You can't eat them right after you pick them. You have to pickle them before you can eat them. And after pickling, they can be stored for a long time, so there's no need to worry about them going bad."

"That's good." He breathed a sigh of relief.

Xu Jiang asked, "How's the market today? Has anyone come?"

"The rice shop owner has been here, and no one else is here. While no one's around, I've fixed a few paintings and put them on the fourth shelf. Would you like to check them out, boss?"

"I'll go check it out later." Xu Jiang glanced at the sky and urged him to go back. "Go back quickly, it's getting dark."

"Okay, boss, see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow."

After seeing the guests off, Xu Jiang closed the door. She took out her purse and counted the silver in her room. There were actually ten taels.

Du Hui was right, Lou Jing was indeed generous.

After collecting the silver, she went to the shop with a lamp to look at the paintings that Hu Xu mentioned. She knew that Hu Xu was an excellent painter, but she had no idea that he could do such a job as repairing something so beautifully.

She couldn't help but think that she had really found a treasure.
