Xu Jiang followed the dragon boats as they converged on Longshou Township, where cheers erupted. She then praised, "Brother, you really know how to find a place."
"That's right. But thanks to the villagers' guidance, otherwise I wouldn't have found this great place."
Shopkeeper Wang asked his wife to sit down, and after he and his son arranged all the food, he took out a packet of realgar powder and sprinkled it around to repel insects and mosquitoes for his wife and children.
After spreading the water, he called to the two people standing by the rock, "There's still a while before the race starts, come over and rest for a while."
"I'm coming," Xu Jiang replied, taking the dry food from Lou Yunchun and spreading it out. She brought rice dumplings, cakes, meat, bamboo shoots, and a pot of mugwort wine.
Climbing in midsummer, the sun is shining above.
Xu Jiang divided the cups, filling them for the Wang couple and then for herself and Lou Yunchun. Then she said, "Fine wine for this festive occasion. Brother and sister-in-law, this is a toast to you. Thank you for your care in the past."
Qin raised her cup and said, "I toast to you, sister. Ever since you came to our Huailiu Alley, this ungrateful person of mine has been coming here to eat and drink for free. Thank you for your tolerance."
Shopkeeper Wang chuckled and came over, saying, "We're family, don't be so distant." Then he said to Lou Yunchun, "Brother Lou, come on, let's have a drink together."
"good."
Several people drank together.
The big ones drink, the small ones eat, and a breeze blows down from the pine trees, making everyone feel comfortable.
"Oh, I didn't expect someone to be one step ahead of us." Several voices came from under the huge rock. Lou Yunchun and Manager Wang stood up to check, and they never thought that they were several disciples of Qianjinfang.
"Mr. Lou, Shopkeeper Wang, it turns out it's you!"
The leader was Fu Zi, who brought three fellow apprentices out to cut mugwort. Thinking they could watch dragon boat races here, they climbed up to take a look, but unexpectedly they ran into an acquaintance.
Shopkeeper Wang hurriedly greeted, "You've arrived at the right time. The food and wine have just been served. Would you like a drink?"
Fuzi glanced at his fellow apprentices behind him and waved his hands, "I appreciate your kindness. If you drink this back, you'll be scolded by the master."
Doctor Chen was also a strict teacher, so no one forced him.
Xu Jiang smiled and said, "It's okay to eat something, right?"
"That's fine. I'm just hungry." Fu Zi asked his fellow apprentices to take off the baskets on their backs, pour out the cut mugwort, spread it on the stones to dry, and then sat down under the shade of the trees and took the food handed to them by Manager Wang and Lou Yunchun.
Fuzi peeled the rice dumplings while staring at Xu Jiang's wound, "It's almost healed."
Xu Jiang flattered him at the right moment, "Qianjinfang's medicine is still the best."
The expressions of several Qianjinfang disciples suddenly brightened. Fuzi said proudly, "Of course, these ointments are all made by us. The efficacy is naturally better than others."
Another disciple said admiringly, "Our master is even more skilled. He has prepared many prescriptions. Many difficult and complicated diseases have been cured with just one dose of his medicine."
"Doctor Chen is truly an exceptional doctor. My son had a fever when he was a little over a year old, and thanks to Doctor Chen, he would have almost died." Shopkeeper Wang glanced at his son, who was enjoying his meal, and sighed, "So many years have passed in the blink of an eye."
After saying that, he saw his son was about to stuff his mouth with snacks again, so he patted him and said, "Eat less. Look at your bloated stomach. You might as well just roll back down the slope later."
How come such a small little dumpling looks like a piglet now and only knows how to eat?
The little pig reluctantly put down the snacks and stood up to watch the dragon boat race.
"The race is about to begin!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the deafening sound of drums came from Longshou Township, and everyone stood up and stepped forward.
Lou Yunchun reminded everyone, "Watch your step and don't stand outside." Then he pulled Xu Jiang behind him.
Everyone looked up and saw ten dragon boats lined up majestically on the river, waiting for the order to go upstream and compete for the championship.
The sound of gongs and drums inspires ambition, and the waving of red flags encourages brave spirits.
Xu Jiang was sharp-eyed and saw a huge bronze gong set up on the platform on the river bank. A strong man raised a red hammer in both hands and hit the gong with all his strength.
As soon as the gong sounded, the dragon boat rushed out like an arrow accompanied by the rapid beat of the drum.
The cheers on both sides of the strait shook the earth.
The people on the cliff couldn't help but cheer.
The shadows of oars fluttered, breaking through the mist and waves, and the calls echoed throughout the valley.
Soon, two dragon boats emerged from the roaring waves, leaving the others behind.
The cheers became more and more enthusiastic, and Xu Jiang couldn't help but grab Lou Yunchun's arm. Lou Yunchun silently pulled down her hand and held it in his palm.
When the dragon boat reached their feet, the disciples of Qianjinfang and the young man from the Wang family almost jumped up.
Just as we were walking down the Huiwan Bay, a golden dragon boat suddenly gained momentum and overtook the two boats in front of it, rushing to the front.
“We won!”
The painted drums roared like thunder, the red flags flashed like lightning, and the golden dragon flew in the wind to win the first place.
The crowd was bustling with noise, and the sounds of drums and shouts shook the sky. Even the people on the huge rock couldn't help cheering.
"That's really impressive!"
"Which township's dragon boat is this?"
"Leyou Township." Lou Yunchun replied.
"Leyou Township?" Xu Jiang was even more delighted when she heard this. "I was feeling frustrated because of the flood before, and now I've won the jackpot, so I can finally let out some vent."
Thinking of the nobles who were investigated because of the flood, Lou Yunchun nodded, "It's indeed a relief."
Xu Jiang understood the deeper meaning of his words and said with emotion, "Thanks to you and Master Lin."
"It's also thanks to you."
If Xu Jiang had not discovered the danger, not only the fields of Leyou Township would have been flooded, but also the lives of the villagers.
If she had not handed over the evidence to Lou Yunchun, the saint would not have been able to control Mu Congye and thus reverse the situation and bring these corrupt officials down with one stroke.
