Chapter 155

The two of them paid the bill and walked back, leaning against the breeze. They spoke little along the way, but when they reached a dark place, their hands naturally crossed together.

After returning to the shop, Xu Jiang had Lou Yunchun try on the clothes, boots, and hats she had bought. Fortunately, they all fit well. Then she checked out the medicine, travel notes, and maps one by one for Lou Yunchun to listen to.

Lou Yunchun stared at her intently, his heart as restless as if there were endless sands shaking off. Without waiting for her to finish, he stepped forward and leaned into her arms, resting his head on her shoulder.

Thousands of words turn into shadows, inseparable.

After a long while, Lou Yunchun whispered, "Zhao Xiu told me that Feng Miao was in Qingque Garden, and there was someone with him, most likely Xu Hao."

"Bluebird Garden?"

"Qingque Garden is the garden of Prince Ying. No one can enter without an imperial decree. He must have been able to enter the garden with the help of Feng Miao. These two are both profit-seeking and greedy people, and are easily instigated."

Lou Yunchun pulled Xu Jiang aside to sit down, then lifted her face and said seriously, "These two have a grudge against us. I'm afraid they'll take advantage of my absence to cause trouble for you. So, when you go between the mansion and the bookstore, remember to bring guards. If anything happens, go and discuss it with father. Don't take it on yourself, understand?"

"I know." Xu Jiang nodded. She would not be so stubborn about such things.

"I'll also have the guards keep a close eye on Master Lin. He's now teaming up with the Secretariat and the Ministry of Justice to impeach Minister Wang and Minister Luo's cronies daily. He's pressing them relentlessly, and I'm afraid they'll become desperate and act against him. You should also remind Zeng Zhui and Hong Chu more often so they're on their guard."

Xu Jiang took note and said, "Don't worry, I will visit them often and ask them to keep an eye on them."

"Zhou Huai is now the head of Wanjuan Tower. Although he has been dismissed, his foundation and connections are still there. If we have to confront them, avoid them if possible and be patient. Wait until I return, and a new situation will emerge."

The Imperial College is about to publish "Tracing the Origins of Cultural Heritage". Once this book comes out, it will surely become famous. Now that the Xu family has come to the capital and smelled the taste of fame and fortune, they will definitely not give up.

Right now, Xu Si and Feng Miao are in cahoots with each other, and are tied to the same rope as the Zhou family and Prince Ying. If they are used to cause trouble for Xu Jiang, she will probably find it difficult to deal with it.

"I'm an official now, so they don't dare to act rashly. Even if they want to cause trouble, I'll listen to you and hide from them. If I really can't hide, I still have the Imperial College backing me up, so I won't suffer any loss."

No matter what, the capital is safer than going to Liangzhou. Xu Jiang didn't know Lou Yunchun's specific plan, but she knew it was very dangerous. It involved a military governor, which meant a major change in military power.

Such a major event can only be resolved through bloodshed.

Xu Jiang pressed Lou Yunchun's chest and said solemnly, "I will wait for you safely in the capital, and you must also return safely from Liangzhou."

Then he smiled and said, "The newly bought house is waiting for you to come back and decorate it together. There is also a farmhouse outside the city. We agreed to go see it together, so don't break your promise."

Lou Yunchun placed a promise between her eyebrows, "I will definitely return safely."

The two of them snuggled together, and Xu Jiang couldn't help but think to herself, so this is what it feels like to be worried about someone.

The next day, Lou Yunchun went to court as usual. Xu Jiang packed the things she bought for him into a bag and prepared to take it to Lou's house later.

From now on, she will be living in the building temporarily, and she feels a little nervous when thinking about it.

After she packed up her things and checked whether she had forgotten anything, she was about to open the door when she suddenly heard a loud dog barking outside.

Immediately afterwards, the sounds of Guards Zhu and Xue training their dogs were heard.

When Xu Jiang opened the door and walked out, she saw a lively big yellow dog running to the big tree in front of her house, raising its leg to urinate.

Then, like a general inspecting his territory, he held his head high and chest out, turning his big furry dog head to look around.

Yue Nu heard the noise and rushed out of the cat's nest, lying in front of the door and meowing.

When the yellow dog saw it, it tilted its head to look at it, and then tentatively called out to Yue Nu.

Yue Nu suddenly rushed out, raised his two front paws, and slapped the dog's head dozens of times.

Everyone, including the dog, was stunned by the sudden series of punches.

Xu Jiang was afraid that the dog would get angry and bite Yue Nu, so she quickly picked it up and took it to the bookstore.

The yellow dog then whimpered twice and wagged its tail at Guard Zhu, as if complaining.

Guard Zhu patted its head and said with a smile, "I didn't expect this cat, which usually seems aloof, to be so ferocious. This dog is a genuine mountain dog, usually taken hunting in the mountains, so majestic, but I didn't expect it to be intimidated by this little yellow cat the moment it came here."

"I've always seen it so lazy, but I never thought it would have such a violent temper." Xu Jiang walked up to the yellow dog, looked at it, and asked, "What does it eat?"

"I usually hunt rabbits and mice in the mountains. It eats human food, just avoid adding salt. If you find it troublesome, you can buy some bran to feed it. It's very easy to keep alive."

Xu Jiang tried to stretch out his hand.

The yellow dog first looked at the hand warily, then sniffed it, and when it smelled a hint of food, it came closer and nudged the palm of the hand with its nose.

Xu Jiang took the opportunity to touch its head and rubbed it hard.

It's quite sturdy.

"Does it have a name?"

"Uncle Jackal."

"Legend has it that there was a divine dog. Jackals, upon seeing it, would bow down to it, and so they called it Uncle Jackal." Xu Jiang held the silly dog's mouth and examined it. "It's a rather impressive name, but I wonder if it's really that powerful."

"I took him out hunting. He's a good dog."
