No one would remain calm if a knife was held to their neck. Zhao Xiu held up his hands and dared not move.
"I saved you."
He wanted to repay the favor, but the Turks were not buying it. "What is your purpose?"
This was a tough one, so Zhao Xiu decided to tell the truth, "You took my things."
"Bullshit, I don't even know you." The Turkic man learned Chinese without missing any swear words.
"In Gaoshan Town, a Vietnamese doctor came to you to sell a piece of stolen goods. It's mine."
"What stolen goods? I don't know." The Turkic man was quick-witted and pretended to be confused even though he knew the truth.
"A jade tiger." Zhao Xiu's heart was like a sieve, how could he not know what he was planning? "If you give it back to me, I will save you."
"You Central Plains people are cunning. If I return it to you, will you still carry me as a burden?"
"So Yuhu is really on you?"
The Turkic man was stunned, then he said angrily: "You are trying to trick me!" He is indeed a cunning Central Plains person!
Zhao Xiu felt a sharp pain in his neck and said hurriedly, "Calm down. If you kill me, you will die here."
The Turkic man did not respond, but the dagger left Zhao Xiu's flesh.
Zhao Xiu held her breath and said slowly, "I just want us to be honest so that we can discuss cooperation."
The Turk gave him a look that said, "Let's see what tricks you're up to."
"You're not an ordinary caravan, am I right?" Seeing he didn't respond, Zhao Xiu continued, "I've chased you all the way from Gaoshan Town to Fuqiang. I've seen you kill, and I've seen you killed. An ordinary caravan's experiences aren't as...exciting as yours."
The Turkic man's dagger cut down again. "If you continue to be sarcastic, I will kill you immediately."
What does this barbarian know about sarcasm?
Zhao Xiu said seriously, "The one who attacked you in the inn was a government official. Who is he?"
A hint of surprise flashed across the Turk's eyes, but he didn't answer.
Since he didn't say anything, Zhao Xiu guessed, "The only person with such power in Fuqiang County, besides the garrison commander, is the local magistrate. But looking at the design of the carriages, horses, and weapons, it doesn't look like a garrison, so I guess the one who killed you was the county magistrate, is that correct?"
"You don't look like an ordinary merchant." The Turkic man raised his hand and demanded, "Tell me, who are you? What's your purpose?"
Ordinary merchants wouldn't even have time to hide when they saw this scene, so who would dare to approach? Ordinary merchants couldn't even tell the difference between the weapons of the yamen runners and the garrison troops. The Turks were truly murderous at this moment.
"I said, I just want to get my Jade Tiger back."
"Can a jade tiger be more important than life?" The Turks did not believe his nonsense.
Zhao Xiu said mysteriously, "It's really more important than life. That's not an ordinary accessory. It's..."
"What?" His voice became lower and lower, and the Turkic people could not help but lean forward to listen.
Zhao Xiu took advantage of the situation and bumped into the Turkic man's face, causing him to shudder. He then pushed him hard and rolled to the side.
The push hit the Turkic man's wound. He cursed in Turkic in pain and tried to struggle to get up and kill Zhao Xiu, but his injury was too severe and he couldn't get up at all.
Zhao Xiu touched his neck and fortunately, the dagger had only scratched his skin and he was not seriously injured.
"You Central Plains people are indeed insidious and cunning."
"Thank you for the compliment." Zhao Xiu sat on the ground. He had no intention of beating the man to death or knocking him unconscious before searching him. After all, the Turkic barbarian was seriously injured, and he could slowly endure it and get some information from him.
The Turkic man was so angry that he almost died. "None of you Central Plains people are good people. You go back on your word!"
"Who? The Fuqiang County Magistrate?" Zhao Xiu asked, "Why did he kill you?"
The Turkic man gasped and glared at him fiercely. If he could move, Zhao Xiu would have been killed by his sword.
Zhao Xiu said considerately, "If you don't want to talk about it, forget it." Then she asked, "Where is my Jade Tiger?"
The Turkic man squeezed out a few words, "I don't know."
Zhao Xiu smiled slightly, "I can wait until you die before searching you."
"You!" The Turkic man was so angry that he spat out a mouthful of blood and then fell to the ground motionless.
Zhao Xiu waited for a while, and seeing that he didn't move, he picked up a stone from beside him and smashed it on his head.
The stone hit the Turk, and he twitched twice, but still remained motionless. Zhao Xiu then walked over, touched his hand, and forcibly pried it open to pull out the dagger, then put it on his waist.
"Dead?" Zhao Xiu checked the Turkic man's breath and found he was still breathing, then continued to search his body.
He stripped the Turkic man of his robes and finally found his jade tiger in the pocket under his inner garment. In addition to the jade tiger, he also found a token. He couldn't make out the words on the token, so he just touched it and found that the front of the token was engraved with Turkic characters, and the back was engraved with... a wolf's head?
"Wolf head?" Zhao Xiu was shocked. The wolf head is the totem of the Turkic army. Is this man a Turkic soldier?
Could it be that the county magistrate killed them in order to do a good deed?
How strange.
The stars and the moon are hidden, the clouds are colorful, and the light from the sky is scattered like a fire that burns through the dark night.
The entourage and the caravan appeared at the intersection. Zhao Xiu put the jade tiger and token close to his body, stood up and waved to them.
"here."
When a group of people came up to them, the follower ran over quickly and saw the Turkic man lying naked, his small eyes constantly glancing at Zhao Xiu.
"What are you looking at?" Zhao Xiu glanced at him and ordered, "Treat his wound first, then change into our clothes and go to the next checkpoint to find a doctor."
"Oh, okay." The attendant immediately called two people to help treat the Turkic man's wound.
Soon, a human-shaped stick was tied up.
Zhao Xiu nodded in satisfaction. With the man wrapped like that, even with a pair of piercing eyes, he wouldn't be able to tell he was a Turk. He then had his followers throw the Turk's clothes over the cliff, and then stuck a human-shaped stick into the camel and headed towards the next checkpoint.
