Chapter 192 One Hundred and Ninety-Two Cuts

Xu Jiang bowed to him and said, "Thank you very much."

The patrolman sighed inwardly. When they reached the gate, Xu Jiang suddenly stopped and asked, "Sir, is Xu Hao imprisoned here as well?"

"Yes, he has been transferred here by the county government." The patrolman asked tentatively, "Madam, do you want to see him?"

"Can I see you?"

"Yes, just inform the chief clerk." The patrolman said, "Madam, please wait a moment. I will go and inform you."

"Thank you."

After the patrol left, Xu Jiang stood there in a daze for a long time before his spine relaxed.

"Miancun." These two words broke through the soil and quickly sprouted and grew in Xu Jiang's heart, making her uneasy.

She searched for the two words in her mind, but only found the painting.

Countless guesses and conjectures crowded Xu Jiang's mind, but she couldn't make sense of it.

She didn't know how long she stood there until the patrol guard reported and turned back, and she finally escaped from the fog.

"The chief clerk has approved it." The patrolman saw that her face was a little pale and asked with concern, "Are you really okay?"

Xu Jiang shook his head and said, "It's alright." Then he bowed and said, "Please lead the way, sir."

The patrolman sighed inwardly, but he didn't want to persuade or ask any more questions. "Madam, please come this way."

The prison in the Dali Temple was brighter and cleaner than the government office. Xu Jiang followed the patrol guard inside. When she passed a cell, someone called out, "Madam Xu."

She looked in the direction of the voice and hurriedly bowed, "Master Mu."

Mu Cong also returned the greeting and asked, "Madam Xu, what are you doing in the prison?"

"I came to ask someone something." Xu Jiang asked with concern, "How is Lord Mu?"

Mu Cong didn't pursue the matter further and replied in agreement, "Okay, peace and quiet."

Xu Jiang smiled slightly.

The patrolman coughed, and Mu Cong glanced at him. He then said to Xu Jiang, "Thank you, Madam Xu, for the cakes and drinks. Since you're busy, I won't keep you any longer."

"Your Excellency is very kind."

"Let's go." said the patrolman.

Then the two of them went inside again.

The prison was dull, and someone coming to visit immediately attracted the attention of the prisoners. The Zhou family was imprisoned together because there were many people. When they saw Xu Jiang passing by, they immediately pounced on her like a kicked dog and cursed her through the wooden bars.

The patrolman whipped the man with the hilt of his knife, and all that was left was a cry of pain.

The patrolman warned: "If you make another noise, you will be spanked twenty times."

Zhou Huai refused to accept the oath and continued to curse, but was hit on the mouth by the patrolman's scabbard, and his mouth was immediately filled with blood.

"Still arguing?"

The Zhou family fell silent.

The patrolman led Xu Jiang further inside. She never looked at the Zhou family members directly from beginning to end.

Xu Si was imprisoned in the innermost cell. Hearing the noise, he quickly got up from the ground and leaned over the wooden fence to look into the corridor. When he saw Xu Jiang, his joy faded, he sat back down, and took Xu Si's money.

"This is it."

The two men walked to Xu Si's cell. The patrolman knocked on the wooden bars and shouted, "Xu Hao, someone's looking for you."

Xu Hao looked up and glanced at the two of them, his gaze landing on Xu Jiang. He said sarcastically, "Hey, didn't you say you didn't want to see me anymore? What are you doing here today? To listen to a dog barking?"

When the Zhou family members in front heard this, they couldn't help but curse, "Who are you calling a dog?"

There was a commotion for a while, and it ended with the patrolman's scabbard sweeping across his face again.

Xu Jiang said, "I came here to ask you something."

"What's the matter?" Xu Si responded with a few words, and after his brain caught up, he added, "You can ask whatever you want, but whether I answer or not depends on my mood."

"Do you know a man named Miancun?"

"No..." Xu Si's eyes turned and he changed his words: "I know him."

It seems that he doesn't know her. If he knew her, he would have used this to control her.

Since he didn't know him, there was no need to waste time talking to him. Xu Jiang said to the patrol guard, "Excuse me, let's go."

The patrolman was confused. Is this the end?

Xu Si was about to pretend, but when he saw her turn and leave, he quickly got up and chased after her, shouting, "Hey! I really know! Xu Jiang! Xu Jiang!"

Xu Jiang had already gone far away.
