Chapter 203 Two Hundred and Three Slashes

Liu Mei had no ideas outside, so whatever she said was what she did.

Xu Jiang also greeted the four guards. Seeing that Shan Bo and Liu Mei had responded, the guards also responded without hesitation.

After resting enough, Xu Jiang called everyone and said, "Wash your faces, water your horses, and set off."

"Okay." The guards scooped water for the horses and then helped Shan Bo into the carriage.

Xu Jiang also helped Liu Mei get into the carriage. When everyone was in place, the leading guard in front whipped the horse and shouted, and the carriage rushed out of the shade of the trees and drove into the swaying sunlight.

Although Xu Jiang's words just now pleased people, Liu Mei and Shan Bo still felt dizzy and vomited shortly after they set off.

Alas, these two still have some days to live. It’s all her fault.

————The dividing line between drama queens————

In the inner court, after the old Taoist offered the elixir, the sage ordered people to summon Prince Ying to the palace for dinner as usual, but today Prince Ying was late.

Seeing his dejected look, the sage asked with concern, "What's wrong with you, my royal brother? You don't look very well."

After paying his respects, Prince Ying replied, "Thank you for your concern, my Royal Brother. I've been suffering from a heat toxicity these past few days, and my heart is feeling a bit restless. I haven't been able to sleep or eat well. I'll be fine after some rest."

"Have you had a doctor look at it?"

"The doctor in the palace has examined me and prescribed medicine to clear heat and calm the nerves. He said that I'll be well again after a few days of treatment." He then apologized, "It's my fault for causing you to worry. Your Majesty's body is already..."

He raised his head to peek at the emperor's face, only to see that the saint's complexion was ruddy and his eyes were clear. The words "the saint's body will never heal" were cut off in his mouth and he could not utter them no matter what.

After a long while, he changed his tone and said, "My royal brother has looked better these past few days. This is truly cause for celebration."

The sage praised, "Thanks to the Taoist priest you recommended. This person really has some skills. The golden elixir he offered is truly a divine object. After taking it, I felt my body light and my sleep and eating became more peaceful." He puffed out his arms and squeezed them, saying proudly, "Even my physique has become stronger."

Prince Ying was deeply puzzled, but his face was filled with joy. "My royal brother is in good health, and I am relieved."

The saint grabbed him and brought him to his side, patted his shoulder and said, "This is all thanks to you. Come, today my brother specially asked the imperial chef to prepare a new dish. It's called... Muddy."

"Hun Yangmo Hu." The eunuch beside him continued with a smile.

"Yes, yes, it's this Hun Yang Mo Hu." The sage waved to the eunuch, "Tell me about the origin of this dish."

The eunuch stepped forward with a bow and spoke softly, "This Hun Yang Mo Hu was originally a delicacy of the foreign tribes in the northern frontier. Later, when the northern lands were conquered by our dynasty, it was included in the military banquet. Because of its delicious taste and preciousness, it has gained a certain reputation among the troops. Our palace chefs have searched the menu and improved it, removing its crudeness and cooking it with exquisite care, and now we are presenting it to Your Majesty."

The sage shook his head after hearing this. "Listen, to prepare this dish, we actually have to conquer the rebellious tribes at the border. It's truly painstaking." Then he asked, "What are the rules for making this dish?"

"Your Majesty, please listen to my humble servant's explanation. To make this dish, you first take a large, top-quality goose, remove its skin and internal organs, marinate it with a mixture of fat and lean pork and rice wine, and stuff it into the goose's belly. Then, you stuff the goose into a whole lamb, sew it up, and roast it over a slow fire until the lamb is tender and crispy. Finally, you carve up the goose, discard the lamb, and eat the goose instead."

The eunuch smiled like a Buddha, but his words were murderous, which made Prince Ying shudder.

But when he looked at the saint again, he saw that he was just curious and there was nothing unusual about his expression.

"How tedious and time-consuming!" the sage sighed, then urged, "Hurry and bring the goose up to me for a look."

"Yes." The eunuch clapped his hands, and soon, two palace servants came together to bring in a wooden tray, on which knelt a tender and juicy goose.

The palace maid placed the goose in front of the sage and Prince Ying. Prince Ying stared at the goose and for some reason, he felt churning in his chest and almost vomited.

The sage ordered the eunuchs, "Hurry up and serve the emperor's brother his meal."

The eunuch replied "yes", then asked the palace servant to bring water to wash his hands, and used a dagger to remove a goose leg for Prince Ying.

"Your Highness, please."

Prince Ying looked at the sage, who looked at him expectantly and said, "You can taste it for your brother first."

Prince Ying smiled, then picked up the goose leg and took a bite.

The goose legs were tender and juicy, but the fat that flowed into his throat made him unable to suppress the nausea, so he rushed out of the hall and vomited violently.

The saint couldn't help but frown as he heard the sound of vomiting outside.

"Alas, I really failed the Royal Chef's kindness."

The eunuch sighed, "Who says it's not?"

The sage propped up his chin and waved his hand lazily, "Go and take a look. Don't tell anyone what's wrong. If it's not getting better, call the old Taoist over and give Prince Ying a proper treatment."

Then he picked up the dagger and stabbed it into the kneeling goose with the missing leg. He said with a hint of coldness, "I want to see if he can diagnose what is wrong with my dearest brother."

The eunuch curled his eyes and said, "Yes."
