When Xu Jiang came over with the cut paper, there was not a single persimmon cake left on the plate. She glanced at Lou Yunchun and felt that he seemed... unhappy.
Then she quickly gave the paper to Shopkeeper Wang and politely asked him to leave. Shopkeeper Wang felt a little uncomfortable, so he gave her the money and left as she asked.
Xu Jiang coughed lightly and asked, "Are you borrowing books again this time?"
After a long while, Lou Yunchun nodded and said, "Borrow it."
Xu Jiang breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Then choose for yourself and tell me when you've made your choice."
After saying that, she went into the backyard again, found a food box, took out the wooden steamer, and started taking out persimmon cakes.
Lou Yunchun selected two books, and seeing that Xu Jiang had not yet come out, he began to browse through the shelves one by one. Finally, he found a copy of "Southern Journey Notes", which was not a printed copy but a handwritten note. He recognized the handwriting at a glance.
Xu Jiang came out from the backyard and saw him holding the notebook. She paused, then smiled and said, "Do you like this one?"
Lou Yunchun nodded. "Sell it?"
“Not for sale, but available for loan.”
"Then I'll borrow these."
"It costs money to borrow this."
Hearing this, Lou Yunchun untied a purse from his waist, took out a tael of silver from the purse and handed it to her, "Is that enough?"
"That's too much. Only five cents a day."
"Then keep it for now, and give it to me when you return it."
Xu Jiang had no choice but to say, "Okay." After that, she handed him the food box and said, "Take it back and eat it."
He took it and looked at it. Inside were rows of neatly arranged persimmon cakes, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.
"Thank you very much."
Pretty easy to coax.
The book has been borrowed and the persimmons have been given, so there is no reason to stay any longer.
Xu Jiang escorted the man to the door and watched him mount his horse.
"See you later." Then he seemed to remember something and said, "I forgot my umbrella. I'll bring it next time."
"No, I'll give it to you."
"Okay."
What's the good thing? That's quite rude.
Then he rode away, and Xu Jiang waved goodbye to him.
"Who is this person?" A voice suddenly sounded beside his ear, startling Xu Jiang.
"Shopkeeper Wang, you scared me to death."
"You haven't told me who he is."
"Just a guest."
The guest offered him dried persimmon cakes? Tea? And reluctantly said goodbye? Shopkeeper Wang didn't believe it.
Xu Jiang looked at him with amusement, "Don't make random guesses."
"No, I just think this person is a little strange."
"It's a bit strange."
The two smiled at each other.
Shopkeeper Wang flattered, "Madam Xu, do you still have those persimmon cakes? Can you... I want to take some home for my wife to try."
"Yes, I'll get it for you."
Xu Jiang packed another box for him and watched him leave happily.
It was agreed that the persimmon cake had to be delivered to Liu Mei, so it seemed that she had to find a day to go to the mansion.
