Chapter 41: Forty-one Cuts

Half the yard was filled with people standing outside. When Uncle Cao saw them coming out, he led Lu Zhen over and introduced him to his friends and family. Lu Zhen was a little uneasy and shy at first, but then, with the encouraging gazes of Xu Jiang and Uncle Cao, he began to call out to them in a sweet voice, and soon won their hearts.

Seeing this, Xu Jiang felt completely relieved and was happy for him.

It was bustling here until noon. Seeing that the groom was coming to pick up the bride, the door was full of people, all wanting to play a trick on the groom and steal the wedding money.

Xu Jiang followed to watch the fun, but was pulled into the house by Aunt Cao. "Hey, my boss, we're waiting for you here with an umbrella, don't run around."

After waiting for a while, a voice suddenly came from outside: "The groom is coming——"

Then another burst of laughter broke out, probably from the scramble for wedding money. The other aunts in the room joined in the laughter, and Xu Jiang stretched her neck, wishing she could get out and take a look.

Finally, Xu Sanhong's voice, like a bell, came from outside: "My wife, I'm here to pick you up!"

The room erupted in laughter, and Wang Chan blushed. Mrs. Zhuang and Aunt Cao came out, laughing, saying, "If you don't give me the wedding money, I won't let you pick up the bride. Hurry up, bring me the wedding money."

A Lai's loud voice came: "Give out the wedding money!"

There was another round of laughter.

After the wedding money was snatched away, Aunt Cao's voice came: "The bride is leaving the house——"

"Let's go!" Xu Jiang handed the fan to Wang Chan to cover her face, then picked up the umbrella and helped her out.

Wang Chan held her hand tremblingly. Xu Jiang patted her hand and said soothingly, "You are marrying your sweetheart, my dear husband. Don't be afraid."

"Yeah." Wang Chan calmed down, smiled, and walked out of the room with Xu Jiang and the aunts.

As soon as she walked out of the room, Xu Jiang felt that her ears were almost deafened by the laughter. She saw Xu Sanhong standing outside the door with a beaming face, his eyes fixed on Wang Chan.

"My wife..."

Everyone laughed again, and A Lai said maliciously: "We haven't even gotten married yet, Third Brother!"

Xu San's face turned red from laughing.

The matchmaker placed a piece of red silk with a flowered pattern in each of their hands and led the newlyweds to the main house to pay their respects to Wang Chan's parents and adoptive parents. Xu Jiang followed the newlyweds to the main house and watched them offer tea and listen to their teachings. She couldn't help but tear up as well.

"The bride is leaving the house—"

With a shout, the guests laughed again. Wang Chan came under the eaves. Xu Jiang quickly held an umbrella over her head, escorted her out of the courtyard, and helped her into the sedan chair.

After getting into the sedan chair, Xu San rode his horse around the sedan chair three times. With the sound of a gong, he led the wedding procession to his home.

Xu Jiang looked back at Wang Chan's parents, only to see tears in their smiles and a look of reluctance in their eyes, and she couldn't help but sigh.

Poor parents in the world.

After the newlyweds left, Xu Jiang and the Cao family were going to Xu San's house. Cao Dali brought a donkey for her, and she couldn't help laughing when she saw it.

I saw that the stubborn donkey had a big red flower tied on its head and neck, and with its smug expression, it looked as stupid as it could be.

Xu Jiang was laughing when she saw Lu Zhen, so she did something naughty and carried him onto the donkey.

He shouted loudly: "The champion is here——"

The Cao family members immediately laughed so hard that they fell down.
