Chapter 48 Forty-Eight Slashes

Lou Yunchun nodded, but in fact he was extremely jealous.

Xu Jiang pulled him and asked him to sit next to her. He leaned on her thin shoulders and let out an almost inaudible sigh.

Xu Jiang chuckled, a hint of indulgence flashing in his eyes.

Zeng Zhui whispered to Lin Hongchu outside the door, "Is this person Madam Xu's..." He put two fingers together, "That one?"

Lin Hongchu nodded, "Yes, Lou Yunchun, Mr. Lou Jing's son."

Thinking of Lou Yunchun's cold eyes just now, Zeng Zhui felt a chill down his spine. "He doesn't hold a grudge, does he?"

Lin Hongchu thought for a moment and said, "I can't tell."

Lou Yunchun has always been taciturn in front of them. Perhaps only the boss can tell what he is thinking.

It’s strange, how can you tell?

Zeng Zhui patted his paws, then stole a glance into the bookstore and said to Lin Hongchu, "I'm leaving first. Saving my life is more important. Please tell your boss later that I will go to Mr. Du's place. Let her rest assured."

After saying this, he rode away on his donkey.

Lin Hongchu looked at it for a while, and suddenly remembered, isn't that donkey hers?

Lin Hongchu peeked out from the doorway and saw Lou Yunchun leaning on Xu Jiang's shoulder and seemed to be asleep. Then he tiptoed in and gestured to her: I'm going back.

Xu Jiang nodded, packed up her things, and left quietly, closing the door for the two of them.

Xu Jiang let him lean on her and occasionally flipped through a few poems. Yue Nu was hungry, so she crawled out of the cat's nest and twirled around at her feet. Then she climbed up Lou Yunchun's legs and into his arms, barking at Xu Jiang.

I also know who is in charge of the meals.

Lou Yunchun raised his hand to cover its head. It struggled for a while, and finally escaped from his hand using all four claws, and jumped onto Xu Jiang.

"It's hungry."

Lou Yunchun rubbed her neck and refused to get up.

Xu Jiang had no choice but to say, "I'm hungry too." After she finished speaking, she felt a lightness on her shoulders, and she hissed, feeling a little numb.

Lou Yunchun pinched her shoulders. Xu Jiang glared at him. He felt the pain now, but how come he didn’t know it when she was pretending to sleep just now?

I stared at his head again. It looked normal, so why was it so heavy?

Seeing her staring at him, Lou Yunchun misunderstood her and moved over to touch her lips.

Xu Jiang was stunned and his face turned red instantly.

Seeing this, Lou Yunchun moved closer again. Yue Nu, who was in Xu Jiang's arms, stretched out her claws and grabbed Lou Yunchun's badge.

Xu Jiang stewed fish soup for Yue Nu, and made a West Lake vinegar fish, fried vinegar pork, and a plate of pickled vinegar celery from the day before for Lou Yunchun. He was so angry after eating them.

She scooped herself a bowl of noodles, mixed it with mushroom oil, and ate it with relish. While eating, she asked Lou Yunchun with a smile, "Are you still jealous?"

Lou Yunchun finished all the dishes without saying a word, then strode to the restaurant to make some tea.

Xu Jiang almost spit out laughter.

After dinner, the two sat opposite each other and read a book. Xu Jiang suddenly asked, "Why haven't you returned my travelogue yet?"

Lou Yunchun turned sideways and pretended not to hear.

She snorted and laughed, then suddenly said "Ouch!", and Lou Yunchun quickly looked at her.

"I forgot one thing."

"What is it?"

"Before Yilaer left that day, he asked me to draw him a portrait of Ulolan, but I haven't finished it yet."

As she said this, she hurriedly got up to find pens and paints, and asked Lou Yunchun to spread out the drawing paper and light the lamp for her.

"Luckily he didn't come to ask for it, otherwise where would he get it?"

After working for a while, the two finally got everything ready. Xu Jiang took the pen, and Lou Yunchun helped her grind the stones and match the colors, mainly using malachite green, azurite and ochre.

Xu Jiang sketched the outlines, quickly capturing Wuluolan's figure on the paper. As she drew, she said, "I've always wanted to go to the Western Regions. Before coming to the capital, I almost went with a group of Hu merchants."

Lou Yunchun paused for a moment, then listened to her continue, "But because I wanted to come to Kyoto so badly, I reluctantly said goodbye to that group of Hu merchants."

The tip of her pen traced Wu Luolan's toes, which were about to take off into the air. Then she looked up and smiled at Lou Yunchun, "Thank goodness you're here."

Lou Yunchun only felt that what was being ground in the stone mortar was not paint, but his heart. No matter how cold and hard it was, it was ground into powder and turned into colorful colors after just a few words from her.

Very beautiful.

Xu Jiang stole a glance at him, and seeing his eyes smiling, she felt relieved. She had only recently become aware of his instability. Although men may be rough and unconcerned with trivial matters, they are also human beings with flesh and blood, so it is natural for them to feel uneasy and confused.

The more they get along, the more she feels that Lou Yunchun is very different from ordinary people. Although he seems to be unmoved by external things and cold and indifferent, he is actually very thoughtful and extremely sensitive. He can always easily grasp what she is thinking and act accordingly.

Being considerate, he also appears cautious.

At first she was particularly moved by his cautiousness, but after spending more time with him, she realized that he was afraid.

She paused. What was Lou Yunchun afraid of? Then she stared at Wu Luolan, the answer emerging in her mind.

She glanced at Uluolan's sad eyes and sighed slightly in her heart.

Lou Yunchun dissolved the paint in tea, then took up his brush and colored Wu Luolan's portrait. He effortlessly captured the shades, depths, and layers of color.

Soon, the gorgeous and sad foreign woman appeared vividly in front of Xu Jiang.

Xu Jiang exclaimed, "How beautiful."

Lou Yunchun changed his pen and wrote the song "Hu Teng'er" in the blank space again.

Finally, Xu Jiang asked, "Did you bring the seal?"

Lou Yunchun shook his head.

Xu Jiang thought for a moment, found a seal stone and started to make it.

She was used to doing this kind of work, so without making a draft, she used a carving knife to neatly carve out the word "Spring", and then carefully carved and polished it.
