Lin Hongchu responded and left.
Zeng Zhui cooked the rabbit meat, while Xu Jiang divided the dishes and listed them.
Reed duck can be prepared in two ways: stewed or stir-fried. Prawns can also be prepared in two ways: add the shrimp to soup and steamed eggs. Tofu can be pan-fried until golden brown on both sides. Sunflower greens can be blanched and mixed with other vegetables. Chinese yam and black fungus can be used in a vegetarian stew.
After dividing the dishes, Xu Jiang poured out the hawthorn berries that Kuiwazi had sent, washed them, removed the cores, and then boiled them in water. She then crushed the rock honey and added water to the mixture, simmering it until it melted and changed color. She then added the cooked hawthorn berries and stir-fried them. Once the hawthorn berries were coated with starch, she sprinkled a little flour on them and mixed them thoroughly. Finally, she removed each one from the pan and let it cool.
This is hawthorn candy.
Lin Hongchu stared at the candy several times, and when it was completely cool, he couldn't wait to pick one up and put it in his mouth.
Zeng Zhui saw her sweet look and asked, "How does it taste?"
Lin Hongchu glanced at him and said, "It's not salty anyway."
Zeng Zhui immediately glared.
Xu Jiang pursed her lips and smiled secretly.
When the dishes were ready, Shopkeeper Wang and his family arrived. Xu Jiang quickly packed two boxes of candy and went out to greet the young guests. Shopkeeper Wang's eldest son, a true master of his craft, clung to the candy and refused to leave. The youngest girl was no slouch either, clutching the largest candy in her tiny hands and nibbling away at it until her saliva flowed, prompting Shopkeeper Wang to wipe it away with his shirt.
Qin pulled Xu Jiang aside and said with a smile, "I said I'd treat you to a meal, but you've always been the one to do it. I'm so embarrassed."
Xu Jiang jokingly said, "Sister-in-law, it's a little late for you to be polite now. I don't know how many times your shopkeeper Wang has come here."
Qin immediately glared at Shopkeeper Wang, who smiled back at her.
"Next time he comes, beat him out with a big stick."
"Haha, okay."
Zeng Zhui came out of the kitchen with a smell of fireworks on his body. "The dishes are ready, everyone is here, set the table, set the table."
Lin Hongchu walked up to him and whispered, "There's still one person who hasn't arrived yet, why are you so anxious?"
"Who else?"
Lin Hongchu stared at him speechlessly. He realized it belatedly and said "Oh" in a long voice, then glanced at Xu Jiang.
Xu Jiang saw that it was almost time and guessed that Lou Yunchun was coming over here, so she asked him to set the table for dinner.
Shopkeeper Wang and Zeng Zhui carried the table, Xu Jiang placed the cushions, Lin Hongchu and Xiao Wang went to get the bowls and chopsticks, and Qin held the little maid to prevent her from running around and tripping.
A harmonious group.
Lou Yunchun arrived in the twilight, and as soon as he saw the donkey under the tree, he knew he had a visitor. When he reached the door, he saw the room filled with joy and laughter, and he was unable to lift his feet for a moment.
Then, he saw the woman he was thinking about look up towards the door. Seeing him standing outside the door, she was stunned at first, and then gave him an extremely gentle smile.
"You're back."
"Um."
He responded, stepped over the threshold and walked towards her.
