Chapter 77

"It's not sore anymore." Lou Yunchun massaged her and she felt much better. "Just a little hungry."

Lou Yunchun didn't want her to cook anymore, and since he couldn't cook himself, he suggested, "How about we go eat some free food?"

Xu Jiang chuckled, "Okay."

Having said that, I feel a little envious of Xi Liuzi from their family.

The tea was ready, so the two of them drank it, ate an orange, and whispered some romantic and leisurely conversations before locking the door and heading for Baishi Station. The two places were not far apart, so they didn't lead their donkeys or horses, but simply walked slowly down the street, carrying a lantern.

"What's painted on this lantern?"

"Can't you see it?" Xu Jiang turned the words over for him to see.

"Ginger has a spicy and slightly warm taste. It is used to treat headaches caused by colds, coughs, shortness of breath, and vomiting." After reading it, Lou Yunchun turned the lantern back. He couldn't tell that the black mass of ink looked like ginger at all.

He thought of the donkey lantern in his study and didn't understand why he had a special liking for such ugly lanterns. Was it some special hobby?

Xu Jiang pointed at the ink ball and said, "Interesting, isn't it? This is me."

Lou Yunchun was silent for a while, then said, "I'll draw you a new one when we get back."

Hearing this, Xu Jiang laughed out loud.

The two of them arrived at Baishi Station. There were only three or four tables of guests in the hall. Perhaps because it was the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, many travelers had already returned home, so it was a bit deserted.

The waiter was the same one from last time. When he saw Lou Yunchun, he seemed much more relaxed and friendly than before.

"Please come in, both of you."

The two of them continued to sit by the window. Xu Jiang looked out. The red plum blossoms on the tree had all faded. Looking closely in the light, she saw a few buds sprouting from the protruding branches. They were just waiting for the sound of spring thunder to bring forth green and spring.

The waiter asked with a smile, "What would you two like to eat this time?"

Lou Yunchun asked, "Is Xiliuzi still available?"

The waiter nodded. "Yes, do you want it fried or pan-fried?"

Lou Yunchun looked at Xu Jiang and asked, "What do you want to eat?"

"Let's each have one portion as usual." After ordering, Xu Jiang asked, "Has Master Lin been here today?"

"Master Lin didn't come. It was Miss Lin who came these days." That must be Lin Hongchu.

Thinking about the last time he was caught by Master Lin here, Xu Jiang laughed.

The waiter asked again, "What else would you like, sir?"

Xu Jiang came back to his senses, "Are there any new additions to the menu?"

"Yes, roast duck. We choose the fattest duck, roasted over fruit wood. Would you like one?"

"That sounds good." Xu Jiang asked Lou Yunchun, "Do you want to eat?"

Lou Yunchun nodded, "One serving please."

"Okay, we also have celery soup, clam soup, windproof porridge, and glutinous rice porridge, how about that?"

"One bowl of celery soup, and another bowl of porridge. That's all for now."

"Where's the wine? We have Tusu wine and Jiaobai wine. Would you like a hot pot?"

"Yes, I'd like a pot of Tusu wine."

Tusu wine is mild, while Jiaobai wine is spicy. Lou Yunchun is not good at drinking, so a milder drink is better. Besides, after dinner they still have to go back to the restaurant to write and paint lanterns. How can they write or paint when they are drunk?

"Okay." The waiter took note and went to the kitchen. "One portion each of fried and pan-fried willow seeds, one portion of roasted duck, one bowl each of celery soup and glutinous rice porridge, and a pot of hot Tusu."

Just by hearing him announce the names of the dishes, Xu Jiang's stomach growled. Fortunately, the celery soup and glutinous rice porridge were ready and served quickly.

With soup and porridge to fill your stomach, your body and mind will feel at ease, and then you can savor the delicious food and wine later.

"Here." Xu Jiang pushed the porridge toward Lou Yunchun, leaving the celery soup for herself. Then, they both eagerly began to eat. Not only was Xu Jiang hungry, but Lou Yunchun, after a day of reviewing files with the two county magistrates, was also already ravenous.

After scraping the bottom of the bowl clean, their stomachs felt at ease and warm, and Tusu wine, roasted duck, and Xiliuzi were served one after another.

The aroma of Tu Su wine wafts away with the steam, tempting the lips and tongue.

The two of them sat opposite each other under the window, leisurely drinking a cup to celebrate the old year and toasting the spring breeze of the coming year.
