Chapter 80 Eighty Cuts

Soon after the envoys' motorcade entered the imperial city, the sound of gongs and drums was heard, and then a grand parade carriage drove out of the imperial city.

The first to emerge was the dragon chariot, atop which was mounted a massive leather drum. Dozens of people gathered around to beat the drums, the sound so strong that it sent shivers down the spines of the people. The people erupted in jubilation, their shouts and cries mingling with the drumbeats, resounding through the heavens, seemingly scattering the clouds and stilling the wind.

After the dragon chariot passed, it was the phoenix carriage, on which sat more than twenty musicians, who started with the pipa, breaking the tremendous wind and snow, and then played the sheng and the xiao, playing the music to bring joy to the world and eternal peace.

Following the dragon and phoenix chariots was a four-horse southern carriage, which pulled six white-haired and bearded Confucian scholars, who chanted the Zhou Li in a loud voice. As the carriage passed, the scholars all bowed and listened solemnly.

The scholar passed by, and was followed by twelve warriors, who were still riding in a four-horse carriage. They were all mighty and majestic. Xu Jiang saw Lou Yunchun among the twelve warriors at a glance.

The warriors each held a sword, a spear, a sword, and a halberd. Their voices were as loud as thunder, their eyes were as sharp as lightning, and they were like ferocious beasts, ready to tear apart any invading enemies at any time.

Lou Yunchun held a long sword in his hand, standing upright, his eyes fixed on the front, like the strongest killer, slaying all the evil spirits in the world, breaking through the eternal night, and shining brightly.

Xu Jiang couldn't take her eyes off him and followed him involuntarily, no longer having the heart to appreciate the magnificent scenery that followed.

But there were too many people, and she was blocked by the crowd and could only watch him go away.

The dancing carriages, egret carriages, phoenix flag carriages, and leather carriages that followed were all magnificent and ingeniously crafted. Although Xu Jiang's eyes were filled with prosperity, her soul had already been captivated by the brave warrior.

She was trapped in the sea of people, her heart pounding, until all the carriages in the procession had passed and the crowds had dispersed, and then she was free.

The donkey carried Xu Jiang and ran quickly towards Yonghefang. It was surrounded by the crowd and was hungry and thirsty. If it didn't go back, it would starve to death on the street.

Xu Jiang's hot cheeks were cooled by the cold wind. When she got back to the gods, they had already arrived at Shoukangfang. There was a temple fair going on in Shoukangfang and it was very lively.

Xu Jiang stopped her donkey at a teahouse, asked for a basin of water for the donkey, and ordered a cup of tea for herself.

The tea attendant still remembered her, looked behind her, and asked with a smile, "Madam, are you alone today?"

"Um."

"What would you like to drink?"

"What kind of tea do you have?"

"Would you like a cup of Laocong Rock Tea?"

Laocong is a rock tea tree that is more than 60 years old. It has an orchid-like fragrance and a mellow taste that is bitter but sweet and lingers for a long time.

This tea must be expensive. Xu Jiang swallowed his saliva and thought, "Never mind, it's rare to have a taste of joy and fragrance in this world."

"Give me a pot!"

"Okay!" This man is knowledgeable about tea, and the tea waiter went to make tea leisurely.

As the fragrant tea arrived, Xu Jiang suppressed her inner impatience and waited until the tea soup was perfect, first smelling it and then tasting it. In a breath, in a taste, it was a thousand mountains after the rain, and ten thousand pines on the rocks.

"Beautiful." She cherished the tea and drank it slowly, waiting until the last half cup. The tea soup was like amber, the tea fragrance was like mugwort, and the taste of the tea went from bitter to astringent, and then turned sweet after entering the intestines.

Xu Jiang ordered three more cups, but after they were no longer tasty, she stopped drinking. She asked the price, paid, and rode her donkey home feeling satisfied.

Then, in the middle of the night, I tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

As expected of a sixty-year-old fir tree, the tea is indeed strong.

She tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. In her mind, one moment she was Lou Yunchun dressed as a warrior, another moment she was Mo Ming with a bald head, and finally the hundred-cent tea money. She fell into a drowsy sleep only when the cock crowed and the moon set.

It was a bizarre sleep. When Xu Jiang woke up, she heard the sizzling sound of sawing wood, and she thought she was still dreaming. She lay there for a long time before she realized the sound was coming from the yard outside. She jumped up, put on her coat, and opened the door, only to see Lou Yunchun sawing wood in the yard.

She looked at him stupidly, unable to speak for a long time.

Lou Yunchun heard the noise and looked up. He saw her with disheveled hair, clothes askew, and an innocent and cute look on her face. He was stunned for a moment.

They stared at each other in a daze for a long time before Lou Yunchun looked away and continued sawing wood.

Xu Jiang saw his shy expression and his evasive gaze, then reacted. With a soft cry, she slammed the door shut. Then she hurriedly changed her clothes and tied her hair. After tidying herself up, she hurried to the bathroom to wash up. After a long delay, she finally walked slowly to Lou Yunchun with a red face.

"When did you come?"

"I came early this morning."

"What time is it?"

"Shenshi."

My God, she slept until the afternoon.

"I stayed up all night last night, and I went to bed late last night, so I couldn't get up."

"It's okay. I was exhausted before the New Year, so I might as well take this opportunity to rest."

"Have you taken a break? You've been attending banquets at the palace for two consecutive days, and you have to go home to celebrate the New Year's Eve, and then you have to go on a parade..."

Lou Yunchun paused as he sawed the wood, staring at her with burning eyes, and asked, "Did you go to Zhuque Street?"

"I went." Xu Jiang nodded, and then said with longing: "I saw the mighty and heroic figures of my Dasheng warriors."

The saw in Lou Yunchun's hand almost went off the mark, and his handsome face flushed red with embarrassment. Seeing him like this, Xu Jiang realized that she had spoken recklessly and her face turned red again.

The only sound in the yard was the crackling of sawing wood.

When the heat dissipated, Xu Jiang suddenly thought of Mo Ming and asked, "Where do the foreign envoys who came to pay tribute yesterday usually stay?"

Lou Yunchun replied, "I live in Liquanfang. Are you looking for someone?"

"I saw Mo Ming last night."

"Mo Ming?"

Lou Yunchun thought for a moment before remembering who this person was. "Isn't he in Furong City?"

"It should be, but I did see him last night, walking among the monks offering scriptures."

"A monk?" Lou Yunchun was stunned. "He became a monk? Then Wuluolan..."

"I didn't see Wu Luolan. If Mo Ming came to the capital, he probably didn't meet Wu Luolan."
