Yinyin opened the window, and mist came in, making the room cold.
"Sister, are you still going to the bookstore in such heavy rain?"
"go."
"I guess my sister is going too."
Xu Jiang smiled faintly. There was still a lot of work to do in the bookstore, so it was not the time to be lazy.
Yin Yin looked at the rain curtain outside the window and murmured, "I wonder if the young master will get wet outside."
When you are outside, you are often exposed to wind and sun. Xu Jiang looked out the window, hoping that the wind and rain from the northwest would be kinder to Lou Yunchun.
——Dividing Line——
Quwu Mountain, Inn.
Lou Yunchun lay on the bed with his clothes on and his eyes closed to rest. Old Duan was sleeping on the floor with his legs spread out, snoring and talking in his sleep from time to time. Lou Yunchun had already learned from his sleep where his private money was hidden.
Private money.
Lou Yunchun touched his purse and remembered Xu Jiang's advice before leaving, asking him to save money. He couldn't help but curl up the corners of his mouth, thinking that if she was willing to take care of it, he could give all his salary to her and never hide any private money.
I was feeling happy when I suddenly heard very light footsteps coming from outside.
He waited quietly, and sure enough, after a while, he heard the sound of the bolt being pried open at the door. The man was obviously an experienced person and pried open the bolt without much effort.
Old Duan moved, but heard Lou Yunchun knocking on the edge of the bed three times, so he immediately lay back down.
The door was pushed open a crack, and he peered through it. Seeing no movement from inside, he gently pushed the door open. He waved to his accomplices and then led them in. In the light from the corner lamps on the eaves, they could see two people lying on the bed and one on the floor. He raised his hand and made a few gestures, indicating that they should split into twos and take care of each person.
After the agreement, they took out their daggers and attacked Lou Yunchun and Lao Duan in two groups.
Suddenly, there was a burst of hurried footsteps outside the door. Before the assassins could react, several people rushed into the house and pounced on them.
The two sides fought each other, and the furnishings in the room were scattered all over the place. Lou Yunchun and Lao Duan were not idle either. They turned over and got up to help subdue the assassin.
The noise of smashing and looting in several rooms was so loud that it soon alarmed the other guests in the inn. The waiter and the shopkeeper hurried upstairs, but were stopped by a flying stool.
He stepped back in shock, then slapped his thigh and yelled, "What's going on? What are you doing?"
He took advantage of the opportunity to run to Lou Yunchun's door and was about to go in when he suddenly saw the flash of a knife and quickly jumped away. Then he remembered that the official living in the upper room was an official, and he became even more anxious. If this official died in his inn, then he would have no chance of opening the inn.
"Gentlemen, please stop immediately. If you have anything to say, please talk it over nicely. Don't use knives. What if someone gets killed?"
Fortunately, the fight didn't last long. With one side being a ragtag group of soldiers and the other being a well-trained group, the outcome was quickly decided. The assassins were pinned to the ground. Seeing that they were the same group of merchants who shared the hall, they realized they had been tricked.
They were about to start cursing, but their mouths were blocked by their own sweat towels.
Lou Yunchun said to the soldiers, "After daybreak, take him back to General Kang for interrogation."
"Yes." The leader was a captain under General Kang. He ordered his men to force the assassins to the lobby and then tie their hands and feet together to prevent them from escaping or committing suicide.
This is the military's way of dealing with prisoners.
Lou Yunchun also gathered his people to check if there were any injuries. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
The shopkeeper took the waiter to inspect several upper rooms. Seeing that few of the chairs and furnishings were complete, he cried and cursed, and finally ran to Lou Yunchun and asked, "What on earth is going on?"
Lou Yunchun said, "These are a group of murderers and robbers who broke into my room with the intention of stealing my money and killing me."
The shopkeeper pointed at the group of 'traveling merchants' and asked, "What about them?"
Lou Yunchun thought for a moment and said, "Be a hero and do good."
The shopkeeper's expression was distorted, and he was yelling in his heart: Who can believe such nonsense?
As he was speaking, the captain came upstairs and handed Lou Yunchun something, "Sir, this was found on the bandit leader."
Look, these merchants are clearly in cahoots with him!
Lou Yunchun avoided the shopkeeper's sharp gaze, took the thing from the captain's hand, took a quick look at it, and saw that it was a bird talisman, probably a token of trust.
He put it away and studied it in detail later.
The shopkeeper glared at the two men, thinking that he couldn't just destroy the house for nothing, he had to make them pay for it.
"You two, this house has been smashed to pieces like this. There should be an explanation, right?"
As soon as he opened his mouth, the captain's eyes swept over him, then he remembered the silver he had been extorted from him and asked, "What explanation does the shopkeeper want?"
"I spent a lot of money and effort to decorate these four upper rooms with tables and chairs. Now that they're destroyed, I have to pay some compensation to make it right."
"How much compensation do you want?"
Seeing that there was a chance, the shopkeeper's eyes lit up, and then he counted secretly on his hands, and finally raised two fingers, "This number."
"Two taels?" The captain pretended to be confused. "That's reasonable this time."
The shopkeeper said anxiously, "It's two hundred taels, fifty taels per room. These furniture and furnishings were specially commissioned and are rare to see. I'm losing money at this price."
Lost? The captain sneered in his heart, but said reluctantly: "Two hundred taels is two hundred taels, but I don't have that much cash. I'll write you an IOU and you can come to the General's Mansion at Shimen Pass to collect it yourself."
When the shopkeeper heard about the General's Mansion at Shimen Pass, he felt a little uneasy. He looked at Lou Yunchun and asked tentatively, "Does this guest have any cash?"
Lou Yunchun nodded, "Yes, but the official silver must be accounted for, so that the local government accountant can come and check it later."
Upon hearing this, the shopkeeper stammered, "Check, check?"
