Chapter 12 Twelve Slashes

"My lady, please have a cup of tea."

"Thank you very much."

Xu Jiang drank her tea and looked up at the girl before her. She was no more than fourteen or fifteen years old, with a round, fair face and clear, bright eyes. She was dressed in a light green dress, looking like a newly sprouted bamboo shoot, very pleasing.

"May I ask your name, young lady?"

The maidservant smiled and said, "Madam, you can just call me Yinyin."

"Yin Yin of the green grass?"

"Perhaps, I cannot read, and the name was given by the young master."

"You can't write either?"

Yin Yin smiled shyly and shook her head.

Xu Jiang looked around and saw that among the utensils the servant had just brought over was a set of the Four Treasures of the Study. She asked Yin Yin, "Do you know how to grind ink?"

"meeting."

"I have nothing to do. Let me teach you."

Yin Yin nodded happily, and hurriedly spread out the paper and ground the ink for her. Xu Jiang walked to the table, picked up the pen, dipped it in ink, and wrote the two words "Yin Yin" steadily.

Then he pulled Yin Yin over and said, "This is your name."

Yin Yin stretched out her hand to trace it vaguely, and said with a smile, "It's really beautiful."

"You try it."

Xu Jiang put the brush in her hand and taught her how to hold it.

Yinyin held the pen, her hand shaking. Xu Jiang held her and put the strokes on the paper. After writing over and over again, three or four times, Yinyin's writing had already begun to take shape.

Xu Jiang let go of her hand and let her write it again.

"It's starting to take shape. It will be better if I write it a few more times."

Yinyin then wrote on a few more sheets of paper. At the end, she stared at the two words she had written best as if they were treasures, and said happily, "Madam, I can write my own name now!"

Xu Jiang was also happy for her. "It doesn't matter if you don't know other characters, but you still have to be able to write your own name. If you need to sign your name in the future, you can't just circle it."

"Well, I will practice all the time." Yin Yin's eyes sparkled as she picked out the best piece of writing, blew the ink off the paper, carefully folded it and tucked it away in her arms. She then stepped forward, took Xu Jiang's hand, and said affectionately, "Thank you, sister."

The little girl was the cutest when she acted coquettishly. Xu Jiang couldn't help but pinched her round face.

The incense is out.

Xu Jiang buried the incense ash under the persimmon tree, and then began to pack up her belongings. She didn't have much stuff to begin with, and with Yin Yin's help, she finished packing quickly.

"Sister, this garden is huge and there are many interesting places to visit. I'll take you to see them."

"good."

The two walked away arm in arm.

A man came out from behind the rockery, walked to the persimmon tree, stepped on the place where the incense was buried, and then went into the pavilion.

He walked to the desk, took out the one written by Xu Jiang and looked at it carefully, then picked up the wet brush, dipped it in ink, and wrote the two powerful words "Yin Yin" next to the beautiful small calligraphy.
