After finishing speaking, Su Rong did not pay attention to the Emperor’s expression and waved at Zhou Gu.
Zhou Gu instantly walked over, looking at her inquisitively.
Su Rong said to him, "You must hurry back to the residence."
Zhou Gu silently nodded, "Okay."
Su Rong then beckoned Fan Yu over, Fan Yu immediately walked over to her. She patted him on the shoulder, "Get in the carriage, there is no need to go the Duke Residence, come with me to the Shen Residence."
Fan Yu nodded.
Fen Ling, who had earlier escorted the madam and the ladies, drove the carriage over, asking the madam and the six ladies to get in.
The madam glanced at Zhou Gu, then at Su Rong, confused at their present circumstances. Not being a suitable time to question them, after enduring such a fright, and many days of struggle, she had no desire to speak and thus climbed onto the carriage.
Zhou Gu merely said, "Please take care, Auntie, I will visit you tomorrow."
The madam responded, "Nephew, you need not worry about us, we are all fine."
Upon seeing everyone climbing into the carriage, Su Rong also squeezes in, holding Fan Yu, and then turned around to wave at Zhou Gu.
The carriage left first.
The Emperor, seeing that Su Rong had left, turned back to glance at the Crown Prince and Rui’an King, then climbed into his imperial chariot with a stern look, ordering, "To the celestial prison."
Rui’an King looked at the Crown Prince, who nodded in response and followed behind the Emperor to the celestial prison.
After everyone had left, Zhou Gu asked Ziye, "Has someone already informed the Shen Residence in advance?"
"Informed." Ziye had something to say tonight, "The young master, Lady Su Qi is amazing. Who could have expected that she planned the entire situation tonight? If you hadn’t happened to visit the Eastern Palace today, you wouldn’t have known that she, all by herself, had prepared this grand drama beforehand. How did she do it though?"
Ziye believed that he did not miss any news in Capital City, but he did not get half a hint in advance.
Zhou Gu also wanted to know how Su Rong did it. He only went to ask the Emperor because after Su Rong stepped out of Fan Yu’s door, she silently told him, "You should ask for an audience with the Emperor. Tell him that the mastermind behind the scenes is noble and precious. If the Emperor doesn’t personally come capture him, my token can make the decision for the Emperor. As for what this decision might be, it’s likely not something the Emperor would want to see."
Although he was puzzled at the time, he saw that after saying these words, Su Rong distanced herself from him and calmly urged him to take Fan Yu back to the Duke Residence. All he could do was obey her, taking Fan Yu and leaving the Imperial Palace.
The Emperor had already gone to bed and was reportedly sleeping heavily. Nevertheless, he had insisted on awakening the Emperor. If this had happened any other day, the eunuchs serving would not dare to disturb the Emperor’s rest, but Zhou Gu said, "If you don’t wake the Emperor, and miss tonight’s events, he will only regret it," thus those eunuchs naturally dared not refrain from waking the Emperor.
After waking up, the Emperor looked terrible. The Imperial Concubine, who was supposed to sleep beside him tonight, was supposed to be sleeping with him in the sleeping hall. But now, he was alone.
When he was awakened and was feeling groggy, even with the Emperor’s understanding, he knew that the heavy sleep tonight, as well as the absence of the Imperial Concubine beside him and the palace maids and eunuchs saying they hadn’t seen the Imperial Concubine going back to her sleeping palace, meant something was wrong.
After hearing Zhou Gu’s words, the Emperor did not blame the serving eunuchs, ordering to prepare his carriage, following Zhou Gu out of the Imperial Palace.
Zhou Gu did not know where he was going, but shortly after leading the Emperor out of the Palace, they encountered the Crown Prince’s carriage. After merging, they traveled a little further and ran into Rui’an King.
The actions of the Crown Prince were calm, clearly knowing Su Rong’s plan, Rui’an King, on the other hand, probably didn’t. His buttons were all wrong, obviously he was rushed, just like the Emperor, he had been abruptly summoned.
Zhou Gu finally understood, tonight was a set-up, and he just happened to be drawn into it when he visited the Eastern Palace.
Ziye sighed, "Young Master, when we were in Jiangning County, who knew that Lady Su Qi was so incredibly capable!"
Zhou Gu remained silent.
Ziye sighed again, "Ah, Young Master, the lady of the Su Family came to the Capital with two objectives, one is to arrange a marriage for the sixth young lady, and the other is to meet with... with the Second Young Master Ye who is engaged to Lady Su Qi." He sneaked a glance at Zhou Gu, seeing his calm demeanor, he whispered, "In the old days, madam would have been delighted to talk to you. But today, she didn’t say a word to you, it seemed she didn’t like you as much."
Zhou Gu didn’t answer.
Ziye
encouraged Zhou Gu, "Young Master, just snatch her, what’s the point of tormenting yourself all the time? In my opinion, Lady Su Qi feels something special for you."
Zhou Gu finally spoke, "What do you mean by special?"
Ziye whispered, "In front of you, she has been silent since the break-off marriage. I specifically asked someone for you. It’s a sign of care when a woman always remains silent in front of a man."
Zhou Gu frowned, "Who did you ask?"
Ziye hesitated, "Qingqing from Bixiang Building."
Qingqing was the top courtesan from Bixiang Building.
Zhou Gu glared fiercely at Ziye, "Unreliable."
Ziye touched his nose and stopped talking.
In the carriage heading to the Shen Residence, The lady looked at Su Rong as if she was seeing her for the first time, "You cheeky girl, you’re quite impressive."
She spoke just as casually in front of the Emperor as she had done in Jiangning County, and she even led them away before the Emperor left. It seemed like she was not at all afraid of the reigning monarch.
Su Rong hooked her arm and smiled, "Mother, were you scared when you and my sisters were kidnapped?"
The lady gave her a blank look, "Of course, we were scared. How could we not be? If it were just me, so be it if I died, but we had six blooming flowers with us. I was worried that those people would harm your sisters, fortunately, they turned out to be decent enough not to do such a disgraceful act."
Hearing this, Su Rong looked at her six sisters. Seeing her looking over, they all looked back at her. Although they were all somewhat disheveled, they seemed to be in good spirits, and there were no signs of panic or depression.
Su Rong tsked in her heart, thinking it seems all these years of playing the villain and bullying them had some use after all, it was good for training their courage. When the critical moment came, none of them were screaming or losing their composure.
She praised with a smile, "Having experienced this, my sisters have surely seen the big world, and in the future when you are with your in-laws, just treat falling skies as if it were nothing, just as you did this time, without fear."
Upon hearing this, the six young ladies couldn’t hold back and laughed at her remark.
The fourth young lady immediately glared at Su Rong, "Can’t you just wish the best for us? I don’t want to experience the same thing again."
"Of course, I wish the best for you. In the future, when you are married and if someone bullies you, I will draw my sword to fight for you." Su Rong said matter-of-factly.
The fifth young lady laughed, "If you draw your sword, are you going to beat them up? Aren’t you going to kill them?"
"They are the same thing. The hilt of the sword can beat people, and the tip can kill. It depends on whether your brothers-in-law and the in-laws are messing up." Su Rong tilted her head, "But with mother and Aunt Shen looking out for you, this sort of thing probably won’t happen."
Upon hearing this, the lady reached out and tapped her forehead, "Just take care of yourself, always talking about fighting and killing." After saying this, she looked at Fan Yu, "This child is..."
"His name is Fan Yu, his elder brother was killed and his mother died due to illness because of the case related to Imperial Concubine Zhen." Su Rong gave a very brief introduction, "His house was messed up tonight and can no longer be lived in. As compensation, he chose to follow me." She paused and added, "In the future when I go to Nanchu, he will follow."
Upon hearing this, the lady took a good look at Fan Yu. Seeing the skinny little boy without much meat on him, she nodded, "Make sure Fan Yu eats enough, he’s too thin, don’t let him end up like you, so thin that a gust of wind could blow him over."
Su Rong promised with a smile, "Okay, I will feed him meat every day."
