Chapter 449 - 429: Two Swords (First Update)

Nangong Yu knew killing Su Rong would not be easy, but he did not expect it to be this difficult.

The secret guards vowed to protect Su Rong with their lives, leaving him with no choice but to leave most of his men to tangle with her guards, and only taking a small fraction to hunt down Su Rong.

At the edge of the towering cliffs, Su Rong jumped without hesitation. After leaping off, she managed to leave quickly from beneath the cliffs.

If it didn’t for her being alone, gravely injured, and without anyone to cover her tracks, her path through the remote mountain wilderness would have made it very hard to track her.

There were tracking masters amongst Nangong Yu’s men, who followed the faintest traces from the foot of the cliff. After chasing for more than an hour, they were close to catching Su Rong.

Nangong Yu believed that she would inevitably be caught today.

He could never have imagined that someone would appear just as he was about to kill Su Rong, someone who would be able to save her.

That person was Zhou Gu.

As the young master of the Duke Residence, Nangong Yu had naturally seen Zhou Gu’s portrait and was no stranger to him. After all, it was not common for Zhou Gu to accompany the Crown Prince of Daliang, Yan Huisheng in the Eastern Palace. His status and his person were not unknown.

Especially considering that Zhou Gu had brought a large number of secret guards with him.

The secret guards with him outnumbered those who were with Su Rong at the moment.

Ziye held Su Rong up weakly, wishing he could join the fight. However, seeing Su Rong’s appalling condition and considering that the young master had entrusted her to him, he dared not leave her alone and quickly asked her, "Miss Seven is your condition. You, where are you hurt?"

Although Su Rong was severely injured, luckily none were fatal. She said to Ziye: "Find a place for me to rest first." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Ziye nodded repeatedly, helped her escape from the battle scene, and sat her down on a piece of rock. Looking at her bloody figure, he felt helpless. "Miss Seven, your wound..."

"It’s nothing serious," Su Rong shook her head.

Ziye immediately responded, "How could it not be serious? We should apply dressings first."

With her lack of strength and due to the unreachable injuries on her back, Su Rong responded, "No hurry."

Ziye looked at Su Rong’s body visibly wet with fresh blood and became anxious. However, this was the wilderness without any medical halls around. He knew how to dress wounds, but considering he was a man, and additionally the fact that there wasn’t a female among the guards, it indeed caused inconvenience.

Su Rong felt as though all she was doing was losing a little more blood, and it wouldn’t cost her life anytime soon. She then took out a vial, and after swallowing a pill from it, she asked Ziye: "How did you guys end up here?"

Mentioning this, Ziye eagerly replied, "after the young master resolved the issue with the Eighteen Villages yesterday, we heard that you had not returned to the Marquis Nanping Residence and instead went on to investigate the secret agent. Not feeling at ease, we decided to follow your tracks. Originally, we were headed towards the inn where you had lodged, but after finding out that you were not there, we followed your traces and discovered signs of a fight and corpses along the way. Recognizing that some of the ones dead were your men, and noticing the size of the hit squad, the young master feared that coming from behind would make him late. So, he decided to take a shortcut through Heifeng Cliff in hopes of meeting you from the front. It turned out just as he had anticipated."

Su Rong nodded.

Ziye, still anxious, asked, "Miss Seven, are you sure you are okay? Should I turn around while you dress your wounds? Or maybe, I can help you?"

"There’s no need, let your young master do it when he gets back." Su Rong shook her head. "It might look bad, but it’s not life-threatening. Waiting a while won’t hurt."

Seeing her say that, Ziye had no choice but to drop it. He hoped Zhou Gu would move quickly to deal with Nangong Yu.

Ziye didn’t even have to say it; Zhou Gu also wanted to kill Nangong Yu promptly. The moment he saw Su Rong, he knew she was gravely injured. Seeing her in such a state, without anyone to protect her and being forced to such an extent, he really wanted to tear Nangong Yu into pieces.

So, his double-handed sword was aimed directly at Nangong Yu. Even though Nangong Yu was immediately guarded and retreated, he was still gradually pursued by Zhou Gu and his men.

His swordsmanship was fierce; he used his double-handed sword to its full potential. Whoever dared to approach him was slaughtered by his double-handed sword.

Especially, his secret agents around him were not to be underestimated either.

So, as soon as Nangong Yu faced him, he knew that he was already injured, incapable of beating Zhou Gu. Not to mention, his troops were not large in number as they were mostly engaged in pursuing Su Rong, so he could only retreat with his men guarding him.

However, Zhou Gu was extremely bloodthirsty that night and was determined to take Nangong Yu’s life. He didn’t even want Nangong Yu to leave the forest.

Sure enough, under Zhou Gu’s frenzied pursuit, Nangong Yu simply couldn’t escape. As his guards fell one by one, he could only face Zhou Gu with a pale face.

Half an hour later, just as he was about to step out of the forest, Zhou Gu’s sword penetrated Nangong Yu’s heart. Nangong Yu’s pupils dilated and as he attempted to say something, Zhou Gu quickly turned around, stabbing him in the chest with a second sword!

Two consecutive stabs completely cut off Nangong Yu’s vitality. He collapsed on the ground and shut his eyes unwillingly.

Zhou Gu sheathed his sword. Without sparing a glance at him, he ordered his secret agent, "Search and kill all those who came with him. It would be best if none were left alive."

The secret agent complied.

Zhou Gu turned around without any delay and went to find Su Rong.

Su Rong was sitting in the cold wilderness waiting for Zhou Gu. She didn’t feel cold at all. The fact that she had narrowly escaped death made her feel extremely fortunate. She couldn’t see Zhou Gu or Nangong Yu, but she could hear the sounds of battle from the woods.

Ziye was anxious, "I wonder if Young Master could kill that guy."

"He can." Su Rong trusted Zhou Gu more than Ziye did.

Ziye was rubbing his hands and patiently waited with Su Rong.

Gradually, the sounds of fighting ceased. The moment the final echoes of the battle faded, Zhou Gu quickly rushed back to Su Rong. Seeing her in the same state as she was half an hour ago, her body covered in blood, her face pale, obviously her wound had not been treated and she was stalling at the same place, waiting for him.

Zhou Gu sheathed his sword, came to Su Rong, knelt down and almost didn’t dare to touch her. Speaking hoarsely, he said, "Why didn’t you bandage the wound? Do you know it’s dangerous to lose too much blood?"

Su Rong stretched out her hand and easily wrapped his neck, also saying in a raspy voice: "You left Ziye with me, it was not very convenient, so I waited for you to come back and bandage it."

Zhou Gu’s heart skipped a beat, shocked by her initiative to touch him and by her words. Was it convenient for Ziye to bandage her? Looking at her pale and blood-soaked appearance, he couldn’t say these words, after staying silent for a moment, he apologized, "I’m sorry, I didn’t think, I just wanted to kill Nangong Yu."

He wanted to kill Nangong Yu himself, in his rage; he hadn’t considered that it might not be convenient for Ziye to bandage her.

"What are you sorry for? I should thank you for saving me and killing Nangong Yu." Su Rong had indeed reached her limit. She didn’t let go of his neck, "Zhou Gu, I have no strength left. Find somewhere for me, a place sheltered from the wind, or maybe a cave somewhere. You can help me bandage, I need to rest."

Zhou Gu nodded, immediately held her up, and ordered Ziye, "Go find it quickly. See where there’s a cave nearby."

After all, they were in a wilderness, the nearest town was tens of miles away. As Su Rong said, it would be more appropriate to find a cave.
