Chapter 490 - 470: Soft-Hearted (Second Update)

Su Rong was in the heat of her anger. Zhou Gu saw her tiny face tightened with a streak of fury. He scratched his head, feeling somewhat flummoxed.

But he wasn’t a fool, instead, he was very smart, he immediately apologized, displaying a pitiful demeanor, "Su Rong, I was wrong."

With a stern face, Su Rong said, "Spare me your pitiful acts."

He had coerced her into drinking ginger soup with the same tone earlier, but did he listen? He didn’t. So, she chose not to listen either.

Zhou Gu reached out to tug at her sleeve, "I was wrong."

Su Rong brushed off his hand, very cold and unfeeling, "Leave right now, I want to sleep." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Zhou Gu had not dreamed that a simple bowl of ginger soup would cause such a big disaster. If he had known, he would have never forced her to drink it before, or at least, he wouldn’t have been so domineering about it. He should have coaxed her into drinking it instead.

He looked regretfully at his own hand, which was slapped until it turned red. His voice was full of somber, "Su Rong, I was wrong. I won’t dare to do it again."

Su Rong glanced at him. His current pitiful state almost broke her.

Zhou Gu tugged at her sleeve again, gently this time, "I won’t force you to drink it again if you’re unwilling to. I was really wrong."

Su Rong observed how this intelligent man could also behave so foolishly sometimes. She mentioned the matter of the ginger soup and he really took her at her word. She wanted to tap his forehead to correct him. Was it really just about the ginger soup? It was him kissing her every day, taking kissing her for granted, as if it was easier than drinking water. By now, this had ceased to be a good sign.

Even though she had not eaten pork, she had seen pigs run. The romantic scenes of men and women depicted in picture books explained how to court and express love: maintaining some distance, the initial awkwardness, the shy and hesitant expressions, the pounding of the heart, and so on. All of these things seemed to be missing in Zhou Gu!

Missing!

This was terrifying!

They were just newlyweds, but they were living as if they were an old married couple. Was this right?

This trend had to be stopped.

So, with these thoughts in her mind, Su Rong hardened her heart again, "You can’t kiss me in the future without my permission."

After saying that, she irritably signaled him to leave, "Go now, I don’t want to see you right now."

If he continued to look like that, she would probably soften up again. Letting him have his way like this was not a good idea.

Absolutely not.

Zhou Gu choked up, "Su Rong."

Su Rong ignored him. She slowly made her way to the bed, undressed, climbed up the bed, dropped her bed curtain, and covered herself with her quilt. "As you can see, I can take care of myself at night from now on."

Zhou Gu: "..."

He stood there like a forlorn puppy, standing by the table, "I really was wrong."

Su Rong moved her hand to her forehead, blocked her face with her arm, and with the bed curtains heavy, he couldn’t see her. Applying a hard heart, she said, "If you keep mumbling nonsense, it’ll be two months."

Zhou Gu widened his eyes.

Su Rong covered her face with her hand, "Are you leaving or not?"

Zhou Gu resigned to his fate and could only leave, like a little dog that had fallen into the water, wet and pitiful, even his retreating figure looked irresistible.

The door opened and then closed again. Zhou Gu reluctantly left, as if the sky had fallen.

Su Rong: "..."

She wanted to be angry and laugh at the same time. After a while, she savored the lingering spiciness in her mouth. She reached out and felt around, taking a cube of sugar from beside her pillow. She unwrapped the sugar and stuffed it into her mouth, feeling relief instantly.

This sugar was something Zhou Gu had especially bought for her to relieve the bitter taste of the medicinal soup she had to drink every day.

She let the sugar dissolve in her mouth and when it reached her heart, she sighed deeply at the sight of the half-empty large bed, two pillows, and two quilts, then couldn’t help but call out, "You come back."

After shouting, she felt like she deserved a slap.

Why was she so soft-hearted?

Soft-heartedness was truly lethal.

Zhou Gu was standing outside the door, not having left. His face was bitter, almost drowned in regret. He wasn’t adept at sweet talking and coaxing people, so the only phrase he kept repeating was "I was wrong.". He believed that his predicament was well deserved due to his slow wit.

Ziye, who was busy with his duties, saw Zhou Gu in this state and jumped. He was about to go over and ask what the matter was when he heard Su Rong calling out from inside. At once, Zhou Gu’s ears perked up and he hurriedly pushed the door open to enter.

Ziye: "..."

He shouldn’t have worried needlessly. Miss Seven and his Young Master were inseparable. How could they have quarreled? Even if he had a fight with Fen Ling, Miss Seven and his Young Master wouldn’t have the same issue.

So, he turned back to his own affairs.

When Zhou Gu returned to the room and came quickly to Su Rong’s side, he spoke to her in a soft and pitiful voice: "I was really wrong, will you forgive me?"

Su Rong sat up, lifted the curtain, and saw Zhou Gu standing in front of the bed, still the same pitiful look which she absolutely couldn’t resist. After a moment of silence, she got out of bed, knelt in front of him, wrapped her arm around his neck, and gave him a deep kiss, her mouth still sweet with the taste of sugar.

Zhou Gu widened his eyes but in just a moment, he held her slender waist more tightly.

"You’re not allowed to initiate." Su Rong dominance was unmistakable even with her muffled voice.

Zhou Gu immediately stopped.

So, for the first time, Su Rong took the lead and smeared her sugary sweetness all over Zhou Gu’s mouth. And then, when his hand that was around her waist tightened unbearably, she pulled away from him, her eyes like pools of water, and she hummed in a light voice, "Zhou Gu, don’t think you’re the only one who can bully me."

In that moment, it was as if Zhou Gu had suddenly seen the light. He seemed to understand something. He hugged her waist without letting go, whispering into her ear in a soft voice, "Miss Seven is right, I was wrong. From now on, you can bully me however you like."

Su Rong hummed in agreement, patting his handsome face, "We need to sleep now, I’m tired."

Zhou Gu was ready to comply with her every request, as long as she didn’t ask him to leave again. He nodded eagerly in agreement, "Alright, let’s sleep if you’re tired. Let’s sleep together."

He let go of her waist, let her lay down on the inside, and quickly got on the bed. He dropped the curtains, lay down on the outside next to her, and loosely embraced her. Patting her gently, he said, "Sleep now!"

He was treating her like a child.

Su Rong, struggling with her sleepiness, turned over and snuggled into his arms. She held his waist, laid her head on his arm, and found her familiar and comfortable position. She closed her eyes and murmured discontentedly, "I’m only forgiving you this time because I am kind-hearted, not because you haven’t done anything wrong."

Zhou Gu’s brows and eyes curved into a smile. He held her delicate body in his arms as he nodded in agreement. "Mmm, right, it’s my fault. You were kind-hearted. Thank you, Miss Seven, for your forgiveness."

He knew she was soft-hearted towards him, but he had never truly realized it. It wasn’t until this moment when she was about to explode with anger that he truly understood. She only needed a piece of sugar for her anger to dissipate, which showed just how soft-hearted she was.

He tightened his hold on her waist. His little lady was just too lovable.
